that's either a really small child or one of the biggest yams i've ever seen...

when they get that big - do they still have the same taste? (reason asking is zucchini can grow huge -but the big ones lose all their taste... )

How long do they keep before spoiling? Like do they last the winter?

my gardenning is limited to the basil and thyme plants I have on the windowsill

This is the first year that I grew these, and they were actually an accident. I have a compost pile that I throw all my veggie and plant leavings in. I must have thrown in a sweet potato in there with roots on it back in the spring. I let the vine grow because I wasn't sure what it was until I actually dug them up. I thought it might have been a squash or a bean from the looks of the vine.

I baked one of the smallest ones last night and it was not very sweet and had a pumpkin taste/smell. It wasn't disgusting, just not what I expected. I'm going to bake the bigger ones and see if I get the same taste.

It's def. the biggest one I've ever seen too! My son is making that face b/c right after I snapped the pic he dropped it b/c it was too heavy for him to hold! I still can't get over it!

I love yams!!! :drooling: Ahhhhh!

1. working out (running, especially trail running, Yoga, weight training, kickboxing)
2. reading
3. filming random people doing things, mostly making music, and posting on my youtube channel :D
4. Cooking, when I make time for it
5. Training for races, which usually includes giving up some vices for a short while :reddevil:
6. Going out dancing with girl friends
7. Visiting the Bay Area and all my Oakland homies
8. Hanging out with "family"--I love going on picnics or to museums with my friends and their grandparents, parents, siblings, cousins--oh yeah and my own family
9. I used to try to hang out with boys but I don't do that much anymore--maybe someday again...

And I bellydance too ! :)

And I looooove reading psychological thrillers.
