Weight loss help needed!

Well I guess we can agree to disagree. Do you know how many people I know including myself who eat far more calories then what I "should be" eating and still don't gain weight like I should if that were false. I was 242 and lost 25 lbs without exercise due to changing my eating habits and I was actually taking in more food than I was before and still lost weight.

Even my wife's friend who was over 200 lbs, went on a diet and she complained about eating too much. She went from eating 3 times a day to 6 and eating far more per serving and lost over 50 lbs! She tried weight watchers counting points & calorie counting and could not lose weight until she actually ate more, ate better, ate breakfast and balanced her meals. She does watch her calories but she is eating a ton more than ever and is losing weight.

Besides if you have to count calories most people are going to fail down the road. The best way to lose weight is eat balanced (fats, carbs, protein) and change your foods often.

There are plenty of foods out there that require more energy to digest then have calories. (negative calories) I am not a huge fan of any one "diet" because diets are destined to failure. But changing your habits to a sensible varied approach with some portion control will do just fine and everyone will succeed at that if they stick with it.

Sugar carbs. That's what is making everyone fat today. All the fat free food and food that turns into sugar quickly. Stay away from all boxed, canned and pre made foods and cook your own and you will gain health lose fat and increase muscle without killing yourself in the gym.

HI Gymgoer,

Hmmm, I have a few thoughts here. I think first of all the idea of hitting a gym for 2 hours is not something that is sustainable, you've GOT to think long-term. i.e. "Is this something I can do forever?"

As for the suggestions to eat whatever you want, I think there needs to be a little more verbiage there which says, "As long as it's a healthy option." I'm not sure how old you are, but many times eating healthy is misconstrued as low-calorie and that's not always the case. A Snickers bar is 250 calories which is low but not healthy, does that make sense?

If I had 3 things that I would want to pass along to you it would be this:

1. Exercise regularly and create a program that sustainable and includes plenty of variety (try classes, do fun things outside, etc.)

2. When it comes to food, think Q2, quality and quantity, how much you're eating and what the quality of the food you're eating. I love the quote below that said, "Is what I'm eating bringing me closer to my goal?" Brilliant.

3. Last, look at the big picture. What are you trying to achieve? If it's a healthy body for the long-term, then create a lifestyle that will make that happen. If you're killing yourself at the gym, and not eating well, it will be short-lived.

There's a lot of good advice here, so pick what makes sense to you and your life style and good luck!

I want a schedule of fitness including cardio, weights and yoga with an emphasis on legs, back and stomach muscles. Health experts recommend one to go slow on the tasks to self-help and repetition so we can gradually practice with the trucks.

Hello there.

I am a 22 year old, weighing 53kgs. I gained around 5kgs for the past 2 months.
Is there an effective method of losing weight that you think can be suitable for me?

Behavior changes

Hi, Hope this might help. First you need to change your behavior and gain control of yourself. This begins with self-observation without judgement. After this, choosing to lose weight becomes much easier. We all struggle because we try to go straight to losing the weight without developing the required skills first.
