Greetings, Welcome to the Walking Club Duex February challenge. the goal is to have the most miles in a month. PLEASE use the honor system.

4 week (28 day challenge)

First place: most Miles.

what will you need?

to create a post in here that will be updated daily.

a Pedometer, cell phone that tracks miles using an app ( like runstar) or some other form of tracking or GPS. (map quest: not recommended )

most treadmills will track mileage for you.

RULES

Rule 1: you don't talk about walk club.(joke)

Rule 2: DO NOT count your total daily steps.
This is for extra ( above and beyond your daily life ) miles.
This means if you wear a pedometer and you count your total daily steps you must walk extra in order to compete in the challenge.

Rule 3: Honor system. Please do not lie or round up your miles.
If you walked 2.9 miles then put 2.9 miles.

Rule 4: do not over do and injure yourself

Rule 5: Have fun!

Notes: I have been doing a walk/run thing and it caught up with me. had really bad leg pains in my joints and what not.

Hi Tob, I'll join this club. I like walking and just joined a hiking fitness club through the parks and recreation dept here in AZ. We started with our first hike yesterday 3.2 miles. Each week they will get harder and longer. This is for 8 weeks. I also met some other people to go on local hikes with so this club is right up my ally!

Weight at start : 170lbs

Week 1: (2/1/2011 - 2/6/2010 ) (6 days)

Tuesday 2/1 : 5 miles I went on a 4 mile hike with some of the Lady's I met at the fitness hiking club then later 1 mile to get my mail.
Wednesday 2/2 : 2 miles on the treadmill.
Thursday 2/3 : 2 miles on the treadmill today.
Friday 2/4 : 0 Break day for me. I went shopping so I was on my feet a lot plus I parked as far from the stores as I could.
Saturday 2/5 : 2 miles outside. I'm going to try and go on a hike tomorrow.
Sunday 2/6 : 4.5 miles on a hike. First 2 miles going uphill. I wonder what my legs will feel like tomorrow!

Week 2: (2/7/2011 - 2/13/2011 ) (7 days)

Monday 2/7 : 1.25 miles on the treadmill. Tomorrow a small group of us are going on a 5 mile hike. Part of it will be up hill again.
Tuesday 2/8 : 5 mile hike.
Wednesday 2/9 : 2 miles outside. It was a beautiful day here. Tomorrow it's the group hike. About 15 of us.
Thursday 2/10 : 5 miles today, 4miles on hike and 1 mile to mailbox. We went at a very fast pace today. I got a good workout!
Friday 2/11 : 0 miles. Taking a break day. Going on a hike in the morning.
Saturday 2/12 : 4 mile hike. I went to Spur Cross recreation area. It was pretty and part of the hike was along a stream. Also went up a good hill.
Sunday 2/13 : 1.75 miles on treadmill. I worked outside today for a few hrs. I had to really force myself to walk. But I did it!

Week 3: (2/14/2011 - 2/20/2011 ) (7 days)

Monday 2/14 : 2 miles outside. Tomorrow a hike at Cave Creek Recreation area with a couple of the ladies from the hiking club.
Tuesday 2/15 : 5 miles. 4 miles on the hike and 1 mile to my mailbox. Today it's 77 blue skies with just a few thin clouds. A beautiful day!
Wednesday 2/16 : 2 miles outside. Today was overcast but nice at 72. Tomorrow group fitness hike.
Thursday 2/17 : 4 1/2 mile hike. A lot of uphill today. My feet hurt!
Friday 2/18 : 0 miles. Break day. I'll be staying off the trails tomorrow due to possible heavy rain. Heavy rain=flash floods.
Saturday 2/19 : 2 miles outside after it rained. It's nice and cool. Everything smells fresh.
Sunday 2/20 : 3 miles outside. It was cold and started raining on me before I got home. A little water doesn't hurt! Maybe I burned more calories rushing to get home!

Monday 2/21 : 2 miles on the treadmill. Tomorrow a hike.
Tuesday 2/22 : 6 mile hike. Parts of the trail were pretty rough. a lot of ups and down. But it was fun. It was a new trail I'd never been on.
Wednesday 2/23 : 2 miles outside. It's a beautiful day here. Tomorrow group fitness hike.
Thursday 2/24 : 6 mile hike. Same trail as Tuesday but finished it faster. 40 min. faster!
Friday 2/25 : 0 miles. day off.
Saturday 2/26 : 7 mile hike. It was a really nice hike. Lots of going up steep inclines like walking up steps. My legs and butt really got a workout!
Sunday 2/27 : 2 miles outside. I snowed in the hills surrounding my house. A very beautiful sight. Snow and cactus!
Monday 2/28 : 2 miles outside. Another beautiful day. I'm going to do some yard work in a little while.


Total Mileage week 4: 27 miles

Ending weight: 165 lbs -5 lbs
Total Miles for Month of February: 80 miles!!! WOW! I'm proud of myself!

Sorry to hear your getting such bad, cold weather. Right now the weather is pretty good here in AZ. where I live. The north part of the state got some snow yesterday. Tomorrow and Thursday it's supposed to get cold here. Maybe only in the 50's for a day or 2.

Its 7:54 pm here and i was just out the roads are glazed in ice! its so bad.. no work tomorrow haha.
 
Good thing you don't have to go to work tomorrow. Driving on ice covered roads is not good. I have always lived in the southwest. I once moved to the mid west where it snowed and after one winter I moved back here.
 
Yeah, well no walk either, its still crappy here... i walked around the house for a bit but forgot to ware my Pedometer.... DOH!!!! lol yeah well 0 for the day

It was too cold outside for me today. Only got up to 42 here. We're having a cold spell for a couple of days and it was windy. For days like this I use my treadmill. By Sat. it's supposed to be back in the 60's again.
 
I just read the OP again, I've put in the distance I walk from home to work (1.5 miles) and the distance I then walk home from work (4.25 miles) for a total of 5.75 miles a day. I have no included my steps for the day or any other mileage gained from just my day to day activities at work etc- is this alright, as those 5.75 miles are I guess, part of my daily routine now...

Today it is suppose to get up to 43 degrees, so I may get to walk outside today. I am looking forward for my next walk outside. Tonight it is suppose to show a bit and be back in its 20's, and snow a bit tomorrow.
