Sport Vegetable Free Diet

Sport Fitness
I have a rather peculiar situation. It's more so common in children but I seem to have carried it on to my Adulthood. ( I'm 22 at the moment )

I don't like vegetables. None. Potatoes are .. not BAD but, I am really not a fan unless they're mashed with gravy. Generally that isn't even healthy.

I'm an all around really picky eater to be honest. I don't like any kind of condiments on my burgers/sandwiches/. Ketchup, Mustard, Relish and so forth. All are repulsive to me.

I do however love fruits, meats and grains. I'm curious to as if there's anything that'll help me replace the nutrients I'm potentially missing out on. Fibre is a big one I'm told.

Sincerely - disgruntled

The fiber can also be gotten from whole grains, beans, and fruits. (But most people in most rich countries have grain intake that is nearly all refined grain with little fiber.)

However, vegetables contain many vitamins, minerals, and other compounds that, while not essential, are likely to promote good health. Also, if you are trying to limit calorie intake, they have low calorie density, so increasing the amount of vegetables in your meals will reduce your calorie intake for a given volume of food.

Maybe you could just grow a pair, and eat veggies.

Seriously. Stop whining about things and eat em. BTW, potatoes aren't really a veggie in my book because they're pretty much pure starch with a pinch of fiber.

You're wrecking havoc on your body by not eating veggies. There's no fix for not eating them.

I'm with Malkore, grow a pair and step up already. My kids use to dislike vegs, but they are disabled so they have an excuse.

However, my solution was to puree vegs into the the sauces on their food. Also you can cut them up really small into rice (you know like chinese fried rice?) and mix it in.

Sad though at 22 you haven't got past this habit.

Go look thru recipes and then start trying vegs. A closed mind will get you nowhere. Be willing to try them and cook them different ways to see what you may like the best.

And most people eat potatoes prepared in ways that add lots of calories, but little or no other nutritive value (e.g. deep fried, or dripping in high calorie sauces (starches absorb fat very well, creating huge calorie bombs); most people also discard the more nutritious potato skins).

I don't eat veggies. Many people I know don't. I knew a guy who up until about 3 years ago didn't like any veggies and is a chef. Growing a sack doesn't solve anything. You won't eat poop out of your dogs butt if it had nutrients, why would you force somebody else to? If you can't stand the taste, don't eat it.

However, like they said, TRY them cooked different ways, and it MIGHT appeal to you. My GF does this for me as I don't eat veggies either, you just have to get the nutrients other ways, CREATIVELY. For example, I'll only eat green beans if her mom cooks them, or raw. I'll only eat spinach if it's made in a salad, I can't eat it any other way.

I've never really understood the "I don't like veggies" situation. I can if it comes from a 5 y.o, but not otherwise. It's like not like there is only one vegetable in the world. It would be different if someone says "I don't like broccoli". That, I can understand. There are hundreds of different veggies, and hundreds of ways to prepare them as well.

But yes, what I would do in such case is mix them up with rice or trying to work them into a cream. You can create a cream out of almost any veggie by simply boiling and blending it with some milk, strain it afterwards. Add some spices, salt and maybe a little corn starch (just a tad, if u want a thicker consistency). Serve it along with a chicken breast and you're ready to go. :D

I don't 'like' squats either, but I do them 2-3 times a week.
I don't 'like' picking up dog crap in my yard, but I do that too.

When someone says they don't like any vegetables at all, I call em out.
I don't like cottage cheese...the flavor or the texture, but I suck it up and eat it anyhow, because I know its good for me.

I guess the question is, does the poster want the easy way out? Cuz I can tell you, that road only leads you down a dark path.

Here's the deal. I've spent the better half of a decade now TRYING to eat them. I can't do it. Perhaps it's all in my head. Perhaps, I just really don't like them. I throw up / gag every time I try. It's not liek I don't WANT to eat them, I just can't stand the taste, so I don't eat them.

Now, as per wreaking havoc on my body, my doctor would tell you otherwise. Aside from now being somewhat sluggish from gaining 50 pounds in 10 months, I'm healthy. Only illness in my family that is "kinda" common, is Diabetes. I however, don't have it (yet).

Not everyone can just "suck it up and grow a pair" That's not how it works. When you've tried virtually all of the vegetables in a grocery store, hypnosis ( failed due to not having an open mind? ) blending them up, and plugging your nose ( doesn't do a thing ) and STILL can't eat them.... It's time to admit defeat. I'll try again in a few years. However for now, I'll stick to finding replacements.

Thank you all for your concern, but my testicles are fine.

I should also mention that, I'm not looking to dump a massive ammount of calories. My "normal" weight has always been 140 or so @ 5'10. I have a slender body. However since I'm training to become a police officer, I have been trying to bulk up. Now, I'm up to 190 pounds ( gained it WAY too fast. 50 pounds in 10 months. Killed my endurance ) and I want to remain around 180-185 with moderate muscle/core strength/endurance. I have a 5KM shuttle run on my first day of college, and I wont even make it 1 sadly. All my stamina went into the crapper.

What I'm looking to do is maintain a solid weight and size ( I like actually having some girth to me finally ) Broad shoulders and chest with a strong core. I would LIKE to be able to run around 1-2 KM without being exhausted.

Thank you BasketLady =) I got it. I need to wait a couple days before I can send a reply but, I'll send you out a reply once I can.

I thank you for the tips. I might try those. It's be interesting to see what I can "hide" in some of the more tasty foods.

Suck it up, man. I don't like lunges, but I do 'em. There are hundreds of variants of veggies and thousands of ways to eat them. You can make it work if you try.

But, Malkore...cottage cheese really does suck.

So what you're all telling me is .... there's nothing in the world you don't like, and won't do? You people are kinda sad if you ask me. Someone comes to you with a predicament, and come back with snide remarks, and a closed mind. Not everyone likes the same things. Not everyone reacts the same way to certain foods. It's like telling a lactose intolerate person to deal with the symptoms. Milk is healthy. Suck it up.

I don't give a flying **** how good for me something is. I didn't once deny that. I was meerly asking for advice on how to replace the missing nutrients from my terrible ( yes, I agree it's completely unhealthy too ) eating habits. If I wanted to get flamed, I'd go elsewhere. I was thinking that a large community of fitness junkines would understand the tribulations of getting back into shape and developing healthy eating habits.

TJL - That was informative. I'll definately do a little more research to see if I can build a diet around what I can tolerate. Granted, I'll always be missing out on something due to the lack of veggies in my diet. I don't mind whole grain foods. I actually prefer them to the weaker counterparts.

OICDN - Thank you for that information. I'll take your advice and try to get a little more creative. It's just difficult on a limited Student income.

JunkieX - 5 year olds don't like them for a reason. They're too young to train their bodies not to like them. They're too young to let anything except the taste/texture/smell of them turn them away from the foods. Perhaps I'm being immature. However, perhaps I just genuinely DON'T like them. To say that there's no way in hell anyone can't eat them is being ignorant. People are all different and all have different quirks and flaws.

To everyone else, you won't like what I have to say. I value the information that some people have to offer on the site, so I'll bite my tongue this time around.

Thanks for the kind Welcome to the site. I can see how many of you need to get laid to vent a little already.

There is a difference between the chance of having an anaphylactic reaction to a food, and hating a tomato or avoiding a whole food group because "you just don't like it". That states to us, you are being lazy, or spoiled.

I know what it is like to have allergies to foods and enough so that I can have an anaphylactic reaction. I have allergies to ALL 3 major grasses, which means I'm not even *suppose* to eat fruit or vegs raw and some not at all! and Yeah, I can't have dairy either! But I manage to balance my diet.

But I can eat them, why? because I also know you can build a tolerance to them, not all but some. We made suggestions, and if you don't like them then feel free to go else where, but don't be an a$$ because your being spoiled.....

So what you're all telling me is .... there's nothing in the world you don't like, and won't do?

I don't like gay sex and I won't do that

In terms of veggies though, these things are vital to a healthy lifestyle. You're young enough to get away with a poor diet for a while but the damage will be silently building up inside you.

Grow a pair and eat some veggies.
If you gag when trying to eat them and can't get passed that on your own then maybe you need to see a psychiatrist? (not meant as insult, a genuine suggestion)

I have never had a food I wouldn't eat again. Can't think of one I don't like.
OH.....and I AM lactose intolerant. I take Lactaid for the symptoms and drink my milk.

My kids HATE veggies. They eat them. Not all of them and not a lot. But every night we cook at home they have to give it a shot. It is a pain in the ass to get them to. But one day they will appreciate the fact that dad cared enough to get them to try. Just like my mom did for me which I feel very strongly is why I eat anything now. Because taste buds and likenesses change. And the example I am setting now is worth it.

Now excuse my....my okra is done.

5 year olds also don't like them because they're bombarded not to. Look at most cartoons. They don't like them because they have fast and frozen junk foods that some parents prefer because they're a quick fix for lunch/dinner.

I NEVER said there's no way in hell anyone can't like them. I just can't fit in my mind the fact that veggies, being such a large group of foods with different textures and flavors, can be completely thrown away by anyone. Sometimes achieving your goal requires a little, or a lot, of SACRIFICE.

I also hated cottage cheese at first but I suck it up because I know it's good for me. I hated drinking protein shakes at first and I felt like I was going to puke but I still drink them. At first I almost puked when I tried sushi and it's now one of my favorite foods.

Anyway, feel free to take the advice or leave it as is (some have been harsh, yes, but that's what we need sometimes anyway). I hope you can find a way to fit the veggies in your diet. I honestly do. I already gave you a suggestion, try to look for some other creative ways to do so.
