Top 5 Ways to Gain Fat!

yeah , me too i'm glad i've read it, i was loosing too much weight and didn't pay attention to the calories i've been lossing.

It is possible to gain muscle while in a deficit. Not everyone can do it, but it is possible.
I'm tempted to make that my sig. It's not very difficult at all, when the person in question is extremely overweight. I have seen it said many times in these forums: "You can't build muscle if you are in a calorie deficit."

It's not NORMAL for it to happen, but it isn't very unusual for someone who begins a food and exercise plan, mainly at first. I doubt it would continue for a period of more than a few months, but the fact that it does happen is important to acknowledge.

True, but my statement wasnt meant during that time period.

What period are you referencing? When a blanket statement is given, it usually is understood to be applicable at pretty much all times, which would seem to be the cause of the confusion.

well i just read this now :) thanx tony for putting this article on here. i actually tend to do all five :D yay for me hehe well apart from the 5-6 meals, i do 4-5 meals a day, but i guess that one can be forgiven right?

Am I reading this totally wrong, or is this article saying that any cardio done at the same rate for a long time is actually WORSE for you than no exercise at all? Like, even if I do 45 minutes at 80% or more of my max heart rate, that's going to prevent me from burning fat the rest of the day? Or does tip #1 apply only to people who barely raise their heart rates at all?

I always thought that ANY activity was better than none, but she seems to be saying that even a walk around the neighborhood, unless you're punctuating it with spastic bursts of running, is worse than sitting on the couch.

Am I totally off here?

I was thinking the same thing. I wonder who the target audience is? Bodybuilders maybe or at least people well along their path to fitness?

While the principles I'm sure are the same for everybody, the specific needs and requirements for a bodybuilder trying to maintain or increase muscle mass while keeping the percentage of body fat less than 10% (Men) might be a bit different for somebody like me at 29.5% bodyfat and trying to get back in shape.

I think the point is that you need to continually challenge your body to keep making progress. Doing the same workout day after day will allow your body to adapt to the workload and once it does, progress will slow or stop.

But it is certainly better than doing nothing. The best choice though, would seem to be to vary the workout and increase the intensity so your body will make continuous improvement.

Exactly. People tend to get lazy with their workouts, wow that sounds like a major contradiction. Taking it easy in your exercise routine will not produce results.

Great Info!

Thanks for the very helpful insight on several of the mistakes I am making. These are the very things that prevent me from getting all would like from my efforts.

wow...after reading this I will definitely be changing my exercise routine, that first one about steady aerobic exercise describes what I'm doing...probably why I'm not losing the weight I could be losing. thanks.

Finally i managed to earn 1 kilo weight.
It is not much, but is surely better.
