Hi everyone,

For the past 2 weeks I've been feeling very fatigued and weak and am wondering if anyone else has experienced this on Cohen's. I wasn't feeling like this in the 1st month on Cohen's and now feel light headed and drained.

Fingers crossed that someone can come along with some answers because I really can't function like this for much longer.

Lethargy, feeling faint.

Irene

I don't have any suggestions for you, although I'm quite interested to see if anyone does. I haven't started my program yet, but lethargy is one of my biggest fears.

Interestingly, you and I have pretty much exactly same amount of weight to lose. How tall are you, and how long have you been on the program?

I'm keen to lose 12kgs in seven weeks . . we'll see.

I'm cutting back on caffeine as we speak - that's going to be the hardest bit for me I think.

I'm looking forward to seeing how you progress! Good luck.

Hello

I have patches were i get really tired, especcially at that time of the month, it's the worst time for cravings too.

Nohting much you can do except reduce your activity levels. try to rest when you can ans it will pass, plus keep up the fluids.

anyway hope that helps.

Lethargy

hi guys,

my suggestion is to perhaps check what mulivitamin you are taking- i noticed that some are actually better than others.

Other suggestions:
try having your veggies more raw
eat a diffent fruit than usual
meditate/yoga

All these things helped me in phase 1, and with the next 6kg i will do the same!:p

Hope this helps, and chin up- this is the last time you ever have to diet:D

Hi Isparkle50
My consultant suggested taking an extra multivitamin during the day.
I have In the morning 2 Calcium & Magnesium tablets(Natures Own) &
1 womens vitality multi (Blackmores).
In the evenings I take the same amounts again and I haven't experienced any noteable lethargy unless i have a bad night but even so i am still full of energy to run around after my two young children.
I also take 4 metamucil tablets a day.
I used to take a fish oil tab in the morning but I found this made me Nauseated so I stopped I am not sure why this occurred because i was taking them prior to starting Cohen's.
The brands of I have stated have no anti-caking agents or preservatives.
Take care
Sam

Hi isparkle, I know how you feel I went through the exact same thing at about 7 - 8 weeks in and it lasted for about 2 weeks. I was exhausted in the afternoons and early evenings. I realised a couple of things that helped me get on track. Firstly I wasn't eating my fruit, I mean some days I would have one peice afer dinner but that was it, I didn't feel hungry enough to have two peices a day. But what I realised with this is that our bodies need some amount of sugar to operate and the Cohen's plan is soo very low on any sugars that even sweet vegetables such as brocolli and cherry tomatoes are off limits. We NEED some sugar for our brains to function!! So I made sure I ate both peices of fruit and all my crackers during the day. Secondly the multivitamins I am on are the Natures Own Multi with Omega 3 Fish Oil, they are massive tablets (highly recommended by my consultant) but I didn't read the dosage properly and I was only having one a day instead of the recommended 2. ( I also take a zinc tablet a day for my skin) So I upped the intake of the multi's as well, also I made sure I was in bed by 10 - 10.30pm at the absolute latest. Everything balanced out, I got my energy levels back to full throttel and the weight loss sped up a bit.
Read your body and try and decipher what it is telling you. These tips may help you out. When ever I get tired when I shouldn't be I just adjust what I am doing a bit and also try and sleep more. Sleeping is your friend remember, it is when that wonderful Human Growth Hormone is released to most and we all need that to shrink up our skin and tone our muscles!
Good luck with it, don't get discouraged, you will get through it and see the other side.:)

Hi MellyP

Have you checked whether the natures own multi with fish oil is free of Gluten or wheat, lactose, added sugar, preservatives and yeast.

I think I was going to buy that brand intially but it wasn't free from the above if you go to page 11 in your book it details about the vitamins.Let me know if I was incorrect.

All the best

Hi Sam, this was the ONLY one my consultant recommended me to take for those very reasons and because it contained fish oil. Fish oil is essential on this diet, I notice if I don't have it my skin gets SOOOOO dry and no moisteriser will relieve it.
it does not contain:
Added yeast, starch, gluten, sugar, lactose, artificial flavours, artificial sweetners, artificial colours, artificail preservitives or dairy products.
I'm pretty familiar with the program book and know what I can and can't have, this multi is the only one I will take as I don't want the extra expense of having to buy a seperate fish oil tab also.

So, how many of you are taking fish oil tabs then? Do they affect your weight loss?

Sorry MellyP:confused:
It must have been another brand. I wish i could take the fish oil my skin gets dry aswell but they ended up making me feel so ill.
Sam:)

Hi Sam, I think it might be blackmores, I originally had those at home and thought I would use them when I first went on the program, but discovered they had too much hidden stuff in them so I ditched them. The dry skin really sucks doesn't it, I find my feet are the worst!!

I did see the natures own brand of multi-vitamins and fish oil and they were gluten, yeast, lactose, sugar and preservative free.

Mild warning!

If it continues ISparkle, please see your consultant or your Doctor.
As of today I am officially off the Cohen's plan for a while. It seems my liver is just not coping with the sudden weight loss and I have felt completely wretched and flat for three weeks, plus having water retention, a migraine and aching joints. It seems that I may be one of the very small percentage of people that Cohens just doesn't work for - hopefully you will be fine.
But please, check it out if it continues.
All the best
Cath

Thanks for your concerns Cath and i'm sorry your not well. Hopefully you will be better in no time at all.

Touch wood, have felt better today which i'm very happy about. Must be the extra vitamin.

Hi Guys

I found I was so tired in the first month that I had to have a sleep when I got home from work.

My consultant told me that I should eat red meat at least 5 times a week. I am not a big red meat eater and was lucky to have it once a week.

I was also advised to take a Multivitamin. I use Swisse Womens Multi and a fish oil tablet in the morning.

I find my energy is much better with the extra red meat.

A gal in the States had the same problem and she was advised to add some salt. It seemed she was getting any in her diet. Just a thought...are you adding any or do your crackers have any?

You definitely have to take a vitamin! I, fortunatley, have had more energy...I am "huge"..so dropping any amount of lbs. helped and not eating "junk"...this "healthy" diet was good for my energy and I use Saltine crackers..which has salt and I have not been able to give up adding it during cooking.

Feel better.
