This is simply impossible!

For the last three days, I've been doing a lot of physical work, since I've been moving. I also had to walk to places so many times, more than twice my normal walking in a day, due to a busy schedule. I think I barely ate more than I usually do due to it, and mostly good things, like clementines or 90 calories bars. But I feel and look as if I had gained weight?! My face seems to be chubbier and worse than I used to be a week or two ago. I don't know if it's just the mirror, but I look horrible and it makes me feel bad. I can't even go outside anymore without being afraid of people looking at me.

I have no way to control what I eat, the calories, portions, and I'm doing my bext to exercise but I have no access to a gym and I live on the third story, so doing stuff at home might be bothersome...
I just don't want to gain weight! I don't know what to do anymore to shed that 10 pounds off.

you don't need access to a gym,t here's plenty you can do around your home -- search this forum, or google body weight exercises...

Why can't you control what you eat? That's just an excuse - if you can't control it - who can?

Three days is nothing in the grand scheme of things - look at the big picture... I doubt your chubbier looking face is weight gain, are you sure you aren't getting sick, or over tired or stressed, or allergic to something?

A chubbier face could be from anything. Don't dwell on appearance, focus on force of habit.

And I'm with Mal - what is it that's stopping you from controlling what you eat? (Because chances are, anything that's stopping you from what you deliberately put in your mouth is something that can be overcome one way or another.)

If you feel bloated, make sure you are drinking tons of water. Body weight in pounds / 2 in ounces of water per day. It's hard to do if you aren't doing it but it makes a significant difference in appearance especially if you're just 10 pounds overweight.

It's definitely not allergy, but maybe it can be fatigue, I don't know. My sleeping habits have been insane since the past week. I didn't know it could cause a change in appearance.
As for not being able to control what I eat, it's mostly because I have to eat at restaurants a lot lately because our stove isn't functioning at the moment, so I can't cook my own meals like I used to... and the microwave can only do so much. So I try to eat how I can, but I still cannot count calories for each ingredient I ingest. Thanks for the tips though, maybe once things get settled it'll be better.

you can do approximations for restaurant meals... check out the various calorie counting sites on the web and see what comes close...

When dining in restaurants, most will allow you to do special requests... so don't think you have to completely order what's listed on the menu...

When do you gete your stove back working again?

I agree with everyone else- it's mostly water retention from the sodium in restaurant food. And there are a ton of things that you can do without a gym membership to lose weight- you could simply go out for a walk.

Restaurant foods are going to be higher in sodium, causing you to retain water...

This is assuming the restaurant foods are higher in sodium than OP usual diet. If OP has been eating out regularly and/or already eats a good bit of sodium, water retention would not be an issue, more than likely.

I make sure to order foods that have the lowest amount of sodium possible, and in my normal meals I never add salt, nor buy things that are heavily salted. I drink a lot of water in a day, probably even more than I need if not just enough. Tonight I just ate some sushi. I also read, that according to two different calorie needs calculators, I require 2600 calories a day. Is that true? Isn't it way too much? Would that mean that in order to lose weight, I'd need to eat 1900-2000 and not 1400?

Also, my stove's going to be working once my uncle decides to come and fix it. Which is whenever he's available.

Been there....

I have no way to control what I eat, the calories, portions, and I'm doing my bext to exercise but I have no access to a gym and I live on the third story, so doing stuff at home might be bothersome...
I just don't want to gain weight! I don't know what to do anymore to shed that 10 pounds off.

That quote pretty much sums it up.....

I was once in this boat and know MANY many people here who are now. And it simply isnt true....

It may not be easy, but you always have control. Unless you are tied to a bed and being held captive and force fed through a tube, everything you mentioned here CAN be controlled. What was that movie with the writer tied to a bed by the crazy lady??? HE had no control.....

The fact you are online means you have access to enormous amounts of valuable and free information on calories, portions and recipies (tons of which do not require a stove, a microwave would be fine) Check out fitday.com for an enormous amount of free and fantastic tools such as calorie counters and tracking tools.

You also live on the 3rd floor. If you pretend the elevator is broken, there is your stairmaster, if you walk three times around the block, bang, thats your treadmill, if you dont unpack some of those boxes and move them from one side of the apartment to the other, there is your weight training equipment. Best of all, no expensive monthly membership fees or worries of how you look in exercise clothes.

The bottom line is you. I have lost 70 pounds in the past year. Not from going on "a diet" or joining a gym and getting a personal trainer. But lord knows, I used to think that was the only way. I have several HUGE friends here now who are dead envious of the progress I have made, yet still tell me the "reasons" they cant do it. Always boils down to no time, no gym, no money, no...... something. Very few people seem to be able to see what they DO have.... And that is a choice.

I discovered I had the power within myself to make all the changes, not someone or something else. But I had to CHOOSE to make those changes.

Not having a stove is an inconvenience, but shouldn't be the end of your healthy choices. There are ALWAYS options, as many have suggested.

Not having a gym membership is also not an ideal situation for some, but millions out there stay fit and healthy everyday without ever setting foot in a gym. I have purposefully avoided gyms and instead put my efforts into body weight and cardio exercises that require no equipment at all and I have muscles like I have never had before! Now I can work out, anywhere and everywhere and anytime. Now I can never justify to anyone (including myself) why I cant workout.....

The most important factor, in my opinion, is you. You have to be able to accept the discomfort or lack of convenience, temporary or long term, and figure out how to work around it. Once you find that part in yourself, all you dreams will come true, even if your Uncle never has time and every gym within 100 miles closes down forever. But, if like my friends here, you find all the reasons "not" to so something, chances are you never will.

Good luck with getting those 10 pounds off, I am sure you will find the way that works for you.

Sorry, not true. My parents last owned a stove more than 20 years ago, and only got a combination microwave / convection oven within the last 4-5 years. Microwave + cheap electric frypan can cook anything. Microwaves are astoundingly bad at cooking meats unless you have very specialized gear (my dad is a lacto-ovo vegetarian, and it's only recently that my mom started eating meat at home, so not an issue for my parents), but the cheap electric frypan is good for meat.

Not getting enough sleep definitely causes me to retain water. If you're only 10 pounds from goal, and you're avoiding going out in public for fear other people will stare at you, that sounds more like a body image issue, though.

I must admit, all that you guys have said is true. And I've recently thought of something to help, that requires no money, no gym membership, no trainer.

After all, Internet is very helpful.
I decided to watch some 10 minutes Pilates videos and do them at least 3 times a week, once or twice a day. And I think it works; I'm stabilized at 133 pounds instead of 135, but I don't know if it's fat or muscle loss, because I do some weightlifting in between.

My stove has been fixed so I can cook again. I think if I keep doing this I'll be able to lose the remaining pounds; I'm just worried about my muscle mass. I try to eat as many proteins as I can but I don't want to exceed my calorie goal, which I'm still unsure if it's really 2600 because it still seems too high.

Dont panic! There are plenty of exercises you can do at home. If you are at work in a cubicle you can switch to an exercise ball for a chair and you can lose calories by keeping yourself balanced. About your meals try to portion as well as you can. I dont always have controll of what I eat because I am young and unless I am cooking my dad makes my meals XD He asks me if I want salad, so I have salad. When he dishes out the food I can tell him " thats too much". If you are WAY too busy to potion out your meals try to get a free day and buy some containers and make some meals and refridgerate so its easier. When you are exercising at home you can try to just listen to some music and maybe clean, walk around in a hallway, look for half hour workouts. 3 bursts of 30 minute activites are just as good as an hour 1/2 of exercise ( of what I have heard, I am no profesional!) Well I hope this isnt too much information and can be of help for you! All the best to you for the new year!!!

ntrol what you eat? That's just an excuse - if you can't control it - who can?

What she said. Its your body, you control it. If you cant control yourself then who else can? are you waiting for somebody else to do it for you? i can tell you right now they cant.

Check your woman time isnt comming up, often there is bloating right before and during it

As for exercise, lifting stuff around and moving is all good, but you need to check your heartrate is up. Thats what it takes to burn calories. I can lift hard weights for an hour at the gym and burn only 300 calories. Go for a hard ride on my bike for the same time burns me 900.

Yeah, I can control it quite well, usually. Depends if I have the money to buy my normal, healthy food.

And... I have no "woman time", I'm male, hehee. So I don't have to worry about any hormonal problems concerning weight.

I've also heard from an experienced person that even though the heartrate isn't going crazy, lifting weights and such is still a very good burning exercise as it works the muscles long after you're done, which burns calories even though you're not moving. What's true?
