The runners high?

Wow Buzz. pretty impressive..and here I am thinking 9 miles in 60 minutes is good LoL....

Blimey that IS good as well! 6.6 minute miles is QUICK unless you are an olympic athlete or extremely fit.. I used to average 8 minute miles 10 years ago, so Im impressed - now, 4 minute miles? ID reach that if I was being chased by a bear..!

Do you do competitive running? Races?

no that was 20yrs ago mate,i have done hundreds of half marathons 10 milers 10k,5k, and there used to be a 5 mile league, you ran 5x 5miles in ten wks and your best 4 were added up.
cant run outside now got compartment syndrome in both calves.
and 9 miles in 60mins is good, imguessing your training is based on gaining muscle as well as fitness,so thats a good time if you concentrated on just running you could easily imrove that time, but would probably lose muscle due to the miles put in.

20 years ago? How old are you? I thought you were in your 20's...

No, I am not trying to get any bigger. Focusing on over all fitness including strength, endurance, and improving body composition.

Oh yea, and that sucks that you can't run outside any more. Compartment syndrome, do you mind explaining how one gets it?

no 50.
yes but its difficult to be good at all things, you can improve on all,but to exell at one you have to concentrate on one,but general fitness is a good way to go.

not exactly sure, the muscle is to big for the facia that covers it,so when you run and the blood gets pumped to that area,it basicly cant go anywhere, and is very painfull, you just cant carry on running.
i broke my leg and had to stop running for a long time, the surgeon said that if you do alot of miles in your training, and then suddenly cant do it anymore, when you start back that can cause it,he said he used to play rugby, but in med school he had to stop and now he has it:confused:.

Runner's high is actually one of the main reasons why I run.

I've never had experiences with hard drugs for comparison, but I consider myself "addicted" to running. I find that if I don't run frequently enough, I tend to become moody and depressed.
