The recent bomb attack on US-bounded airplane

Anyone read about the guy who tried to blow up the airplane on Christmas day?

People call it a "failed attack" but it's far from a failure. The only thing failed about it is that the detonator went bad. The terrorist successfully placed the bomb, light it on fire, and the only thing that saved everyone was the fact that the detonator went sour which caused people to panic and one guy attacking and putting the flames out which would have blown up long before if the detonator hadn't gone bad.

Orrrrrrrr.... do you think this is a play out by the US government? Do you think Obama looking for a way out of Iraq but failed to do so now wants to renew everyone's hatred/lust to end the war in the Middle East? This particular guy who tried to do this went through extremes to get the bomb. He came from Nigeria, not knowing Arabic, went to someplace in the Middle East - I think Iran - to get explosive training then he flew to Spain where he then did this. The government painted him as a troubled person and grounds that terrorists are actively recruiting people on a global scale who are weak or easily persuaded to their plot. This is clearly grounds to establish a continuation of the war in the Middle East simply because they have "proof" which no one can fully verify that they are actively recruiting people.
 
So the government gets some uneducated guy to walk onto a plane, set his balls on fire and then use that as proof that they must bomb the **** out of the middle east?
 
Think about this. The guy wasn't uneducated. He was from a wealthy Nigerian family and he constantly blogs about things.

The fact is, I agree that he tried to blow up the plane. However, I highly doubt that his actions were influenced by someone in the middle east. Let's go over some facts: he doesn't know Arabic, he recently converted, and now he has this agenda that he's the next Jihad. The simple fact is this sounds like a mentally disturbed person who lives in a world where he believes he's in some type of holy war against all that Allah is against. It sounds like the US is attempting to us this as a "proof" that the war has to continue or more people like this will show up. But if that's true then US should really declare war on mentally unstable people.
 
So you're not saying the US gov. made him do this, but that he's just disturbed and now the US gov is using it for all it's worth? That's possible.. he could just be crazy and if this can help US foreign policy in some way they'd be stupid not to use it.
 
Take off the tinfoil hat and stop watching conspiracy movies. This is reality, and Obama isn't 'staging' terrorist attacks to keep the US under his thumb.
 
I agree, Malk. Besides, it would make no sense, and here is why:
Americans won't go crazy about one guy on one plane since worse things have happened before. Obama is a smart guy and he knows this. So it is not logical at all that Obama would do this. He knows very well that he would have to do worse than what Bush did when he had those dudes fly into the WTC. You can't go down in scale, it just won't have any effect :p

Also, I'm not a conspiracy nut. I'm just saying that it's a little too convenience with everything they're saying.
 
Also I think you misread what I'm trying to say. I'm not saying they knew of the attack and used this man. I'm saying that after the fact, they start bringing this up. Sort of like if someone hit the back of my car, and suddenly I can't walk anymore.
 
Also, might I add a little history here.

WW2 started with Perl Harbor, and America knew Japanese would attack sooner or later but didn't put up defenses.

Korean war started solely on the basis of the Cold War with anti-communism and Russia.

Vietnam war started with a questionable ship attack off the coast which was blown way out of proportion.

9-11 attack happened with full knowledge that Osama and his terrorist pals are actively trying to find holes and loops in the system. They repeatedly attempted to fund and run operations against the world trade center, and then-President Clinton named Osama as the top threat against the US. And even so, at one point they had a chance to send a missile to destroy him, but refused to go through with it.

So what's to say that someone now can't say, "Clearly this is an attack of America's value and we will do full invasion."

If you read carefully, you can see that the most emphasis is given to when it's outside the area of Middle East. For example, if someone tried to blow a plan up in Iraq, it wouldn't get much coverage as if someone tried to blow up an American play in let's say Egypt or India. Why? Only possible explanation I can come up with is that people don't really care about what happens in the Middle East because we're anyway in a war there. However, if something could happen outside, like let's say in Europe like this incident with the Christmas bombing, people could relate and wish for retaliation against people in the Middle East.

The guy apparently wanted to blow up the plane and kill himself and 300 or so other people. It is only fair to grant him part of his wish. Take him up in a Helicopter to 10,000 ft and let him fly like a bird to the ground. Oh yes, make sure he is wearing super adult depends.

So according to you terrorists have to come from middle-east and speak Arabic? Where did you read that he went to Iran? So if his teacher claims that he was , how does that fit in with your definition of a terrorist? Do all Muslims speak Arabic? Do radiclalized Muslim speak Arabic?
 
had this debate a thousand times already lol. There's a conspiricy for everything. Believe me, the US gov't doesn't need to hire a guy to stage a act to keep the war going. The idea of that is just ignorant.
 
I'm not trying to say they hired this guy. I'm just saying do you think, after the fact, that they tried to play it out? Like, "Oh this guy has this, this, and this, clearly we need to attack now and strike." It just sounds to me more like this is a mentally disturbed guy who used Muslim as fuel to further his mental delusions. That's what I'm trying to say, but I suppose it's lost somewhere. Again, I'm NOT saying this is a conspiracy theory.

Are you from Cuba, North koreea or Iran or some place where people cnnnot see news for themself but are given state propaganda? Who need to "attack and strike now"? So that you are stating that there are no terrorist only mentally disturbed guys? your first statement is full of factual error

If you are reading the news for yourself you will see that it is his father who is probably Muslim who reported his own son. The government did not "paint him as a troubled person" .

Are you Muslim/Arab by any chance?

No, I have this thing called common sense to see that this particular man is mentally disturbed using Muslim as a base for his delusion.
 
Darren you sound like you are in denial. Now the Western embassies have pulled out of Yemen because of terrorist threat. Perhaps you want to tell us this is also a conspiracy?
