Weight-Loss The coke challange

Weight-Loss
I think this is a great challenge for everyone who drinks pop regularly.. though I'm really surprised at the number of people who posted here saying they have so many cans per day! Growing up, my brothers and I were only allowed one can of pop per week, at supper on Sunday evenings. Quite honestly, I think that was one of the best things my parents ever did. I'll have the occasional can now and again when I'm at a friend's place or with a mixed drink at the bar, but I NEVER have pop in my house unless my boyfriend is visiting (and since we are 1000 km apart, that's once every few months). Come to think of it, most of my friends aren't big pop drinkers either.

Anyway, after that tangent, I just want to say that cutting out those calories is a wonderful step for all of you! Your body will love you for replacing all that unnecessary chemical mixture with the pure water that it craves.:)

im like dariqueen, i dont want to give up my diet cokes completely. i never drink full sugar cokes but would like to cut down. i know its no good for me, but it doesnt seem to have stopped me losing weight. slim

I gave up all sodas cold turkey and I have been doing fine. I haven't had the urge to drink any of it and its working out well. I drink mostly water or the flavored water or every once in a while a crystal lite. My boyfriend said to me last night that my skin feels so much smoother and better since I've laid off that stuff and now he's trying to quit!

Hi there, Newbie here, the ol " i'll kick coke after I finish this one" I have done that myself. 2 years ago I was 290 ish. I drank close to a 6 pack a day or so of soda. I decided to kick coke, so I gave away my left over soda a few cases. Yep I know thats whack, yet you have to understand it this way. Action cures fear! When you want to kick something do it instantly don't do it after you enjoy one last slice of pizza or one 12 oz of COKE! Today was my third weigh in since I have started up again. I am down to 305 I was 319 may 17th. I gave up soda and all junk food. I drink water and the occasional unsweetened tea. I've heard it takes 22 days to break a habit. Tomorrow will be my 22nd day, and I think I have kicked soda to the curb forever, why forever? Sometimes you just can't just have a lil, you want more and more, atleast I do. Oh by the way the first time I got rid of soda it was for 2 years and I went from 290 down to 246. I felt so much better, but then I started drinking soda and eating junk and eating LATE! Why this time is different? It just feels right. I don't feel deprived at all. In the past I always felt like I was missing out on something great, but the only thing i've trully been missing out on is my health! Take Care. Anyone wanna be a motivational buddy just let me know. I am a married man but I enjoy meeting new people who want to change their life for the better. I have myspace.

Hey everybody, this is my first post here...

I love coke, I can't 100% cut it from my daily routine, but I'm trying to stick to one or maximum two per day...

All the best for everybody...

I'm in

I've never been a coke drinker, it's PEPSI for me. But 3 days ago I decided enough is enough. For the past 6 years I've been drinking nothing but pepsi, and I'm only 21! I was up to 4 liters a day, sometimes more. I was tired all the time, caffein did nothing for me anymore, I'm immune to it. I realized I went the last 2 months without having a sip of anything other than Pepsi. So I haven't had even a taste of Pepsi for 3 days now and I dont miss it. I haven't craved it yet, I have more energy and I wake up earlier. Probably the best decision I ever made! I drink crystal lite and water now, and I'm loving it. I will allow myself to have some on the weekends, but so far this weekend I haven't touched the stuff, I dont want it, and I hope it stays that way!

:)

its just not woth it, if you want to lose weight you've got to make choices. To me it's like eating funnel cakes and trying to lose weight. Why the coke zero but not diet coke etc? For the record, I do drink diet sodas, but have cut down substantially and rarely ever drink a reg coke(makes me feel like crap and guilty) When I was a kid I drank more coke, dr p, sprite than water.

I've recently discovered flavored seltzer water and it's working great.

I gave up all that diet and non soda stuff and haven't looked back! It literally kills you!!

I agree with you. Though I have not had coke since last 6 month, but i strickly advice people to stop having coke. Its been shown many a times on Discovery Channel that its chemicals are very harmful.

Coke VS. Water

Coke VS. Water ------ Got this in an email recently..

WATER

1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.
3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.
4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.
5. Lack of water, the 1st trigger of daytime fatigue.
6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.
8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

And now for the properties of COKE

1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.
2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.
3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous China.
4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminium foil dipped in Coca-Cola
5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.
6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminium foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.
8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

For Your Info:

1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.

2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate), the commercial truck must use the Hazardous Material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

chemicals

The problem is the food industry is loaded with chemicals. to Keep it safe for storage and transport and more storage. all so it looks good to the customer.
our bodies are loaded with chemicals and what does the body do? it surrounds the chemical toxins with fat to protect the body from the illegal alien.
I worked for the food industry. The chemicals that are used to preserve the food, protect the consumer from food poisoning, it is amazing no wonder we have an overweight, disease oppressed country.

And what is diet pop? more chemicals

indeed

I gave up coke and pepsi about 2 1/2 months ago now . I started out just having sprite to sort of ween myself off but then I just quit that too and now I drink nothing but water. I used to be at least 3 cans of coke a day . For a while I missed it but now I'm good . So now when they ask "what would you like to drink" Instead of me asking do you have coke or pepsi , it's I'll have water !

My Turn To Be Counted

They say the first step is to admit you have an addiction. Well I can honestly say I am addicted to Soda. (Coke, Big Red, & Dr. Pepper) I have to stop for many reasons. The most important is the calories. Recently I decided to count the number of calories I drank in one day. While this was a day that I partaked of more soda than normal, it was what made me realize I had to stop.

In one day I consumed 3200 calories from soda alone!!!!!:eek2:

So yes I am in.

I Believe it!

I am also addicted to soda. I haven't had one in a week. Soda is the only thing that I miss now. Its the hardest thing to give up.

Best Wishes,

Carrie

There was a post on another site about the step-by-step process after one consumes a Coke. It is pretty bad. They say that the only thing that keeps you from puking (from the sugar overload) is the acid in it. It had many other things related to what it does to the organs and so forth.

Give up the soft drinks and the cravings fr them will go away. I switched a few months back and JUST that made me feel better.

I've drank Coke my whole life. Right after I was born the doctor hang me a can of coke Instead of Milk. LOL j/k

I kicked Coke in the A$$ 3 months ago. but I miss it a LOT!!!!!!

Anyways. Keep up the good work People WE are doing great!!!!!!!!!

I just can't do it. Mainly because I don't want to do it. I have to admire all of you for giving it up. I didn't drink soda for 3 years. But I still had to have the bubbles. So I drank Canada Dry Sparkling Water in a can. No sweetener just carbonated water. One day at work I decided I wanted a soda. I bought a Diet Dr Pepper. Then I got on Diet Coke. I swear it flows through my veins. My lone addiction. :rotflmao: Since food is no longer my muse, Diet Coke is.

Great job all of you on giving up the bubbly. It's hard to do I know. I don't drink coffee. I don't think for me it's the caffeine. It's the carbonation.

Keep up the good work everyone.

At least, you are drinking diet soda rather then regular. I hate diet soda. I, too, believe its the carbonation plus the sugar for me. If I have a regular soda, it always sets me up for a binge. It must flow through the veins. :)

Best Wishes,
Carrie
