Im off to do my second cardio session for the day (25) minutes. The third is just before bed tonight. Yep........we step up the fricken business, baby! I am just repeating what worked before. There will be 30 cardio sessions between now and January 14th (average one per day). Yes, and this isnt a typo. Regular deficit diet at this point in time.

Oh yes,,,,is,,,this far too much cardio.......for me..uh..no. Nuff said.

2morrow is Upper Body Weight Training day with two cardio sessions split between morning when I get up and one hour before I go to bed. The weight training will be done in-between the cardio sessions. Diet and meal timing will be acting in accordance with the timing of the training.

Im rippen the old man...thats right.....you see that pic at the left corner of me......BUH........wait until you see the new ones......HEHEHHEE

Just Ger Er done........thats right......just fricken get er done!

Curious - why are you doing cardio 3X on this one particular day ?

What sort of cardio sessions will they be - i.e wrt intensity, duration, type etc. ?

Done with cardio. My love/hate relationship with this type of exercise, and I do it..... I just love the way it revs this old butt up and how it responds...its just flat awesome......but I hate doing it.....Geesh......thats messed up....HEHEHE..

Best I have felt in nearly a month.........Now....No execuses, I flat rock my self to my goal.

2morrow is my learning day for weight training. Since I was severely ill for just over three weeks, I didnt train (first time in two years, brotha and sista's), and I wll see how much strength I have lost. I do expect some loss of strength--of course. My body wasnt in the best state for three weeks with this fricken virus and many times I couldnt hold down liquids or food......But I gave time to recoop, and refed nutrients and feel strong.........gonna KILL The black iron things BABY!

Just like all of you will........

Todays post forth coming......

Chillen, you just inspired me to start doing cardio. The last time I ran was way too long ago.

I admire your determination.

Im NOT recommending you do as much as I am doing.....dont misunderstand. Nor would I recommend the amounts I am doing. I wanted to be sure to say this. In addition, you have to have a reason (I believe to add cardio in the first place---as reason that fits within the goals you desire to achieve).

My cardio is completed on a upright recumbant (with back rest) bike with a gauge to enter my wieght, etc. It tracks calories (not really all that accurate) burned, heart rate, etc. I increase intensity level EACH TIME I ride the bike (it is never the same)--but its steady rather than sporadic, and this works wonderfully (or my body responds great). In addition, I hold one 25 pound plate in each hand and shove them in the air and off on the sides----for a set time, rest for a time, and repeat---while doing the cardio, and yes its a killer.

I hate running to a large degree, and its something I would find myself not wanting to do. With the bike (even though I still hate cardio) it has less of an impact (im not pulling my body weight), I find myself willing to do it (and this is what its about) and it has a severe impact on my goals I desire.

Some do cardio on a bulk and some dont. Some recommend it and some dont. Listen to various recommendations since your bulking and make a decision. Im doing it for a "variety" of reasons, and though losing "body fat" is the "main" purpose, its not the only purpose in the overall equation.

ROCK ON!........

I feel so good......I may just knock the other cardio session out before 9P instead of 10p like I had planned.....HEHEHE......YES BABY!

ROCK IT!

Everyone!

Yo Chillen,

How much weight have you lost during your illness? I thought you lost a few pounds, why'd you choose to cut again? What's your body fat like? You trying to get down to 8% again?

You going to do a keto diet at all? Or just a regular defecit diet? How many calories below maintance are you going? What is your weight right now?

Heh, sorry for all the questions.

Just wondering cuz I know your really good at cutting.

Hey chillen, your cardio sessions motivated me to start doing cardio consistently again. Before I thought cardio while bulking was a waste of time as long as your in a small surplus, but I don't think science explains it all and I think I can keep fat gains down and improve gains with cardio. Though all I have is a jump rope, maybe doing 20-25 minute sessions 3-4 days a week.

I did lose a few pounds during my illness. I couldnt hold anything down, and thus I had no control over. However, I spent a week and recooped and ate a slight surplus and a careful diet to bring back hydration, nutrition, etc, my body definately needed after this. I wasnt going to hit it a few days after getting better, I thought this would be rather stupid.

I like the medium/small cut look with abs showing. I feel the most energetic and healthy. Honestly, bulking tore me up mentally. Im around 11% at the moment, and the goal is to be around 8% (like before). Its just easy to cut to me and a battle I have already won and know how to do well--and know what works for me (isnt this what its about?!! YES BABY!). I will end up being a few pounds heavier than the avatar pic at about 8% body fat when done (or around 160) which is perfect for me at 5' 7" (46).

It will be a straight deficit for now. But I expect (if the past experience of doing this holds true), that I will run into a slowing of fat loss at some point and will revert to what worked before to get that very "tough" last bit off. I just see the sense of doing what worked before.

Being at this level made the the happiest. I allowed others to persuade me to bulk, and I wasnt doing this for myself--which was a mistake. I did it for the wrong reasons. Remember to do your goals for the correct "personal" reasons--what ever they may be.

Don't worry, I don't think I could possibly handle 3 cardio workouts a day. I wouldn't have any reason for it.

The fact is, my resting heart rate is pretty high. On average it's anywhere between 75-90. I don't run at all. I think running at least 3 times a week may help me.

That's cool that you realized this. Don't do anything that you don't really want to do because others want you to. If you're happy with your body, and you're healthy, there should be no pressure to change anything.

In one hour its number 3 for the for the day. In May of 07, I did 45 in one month just prior to the pics of June 11th and then I maintained (the body fat percentage) up to the bulk period here recently....(around september).......

Any hoot how is everyone! :)

December 14th, 2007: Thoughts for the day! (1)

I found this saying today, and it should hold alot of meaning to you all:

Growing past the familiar "Life it Up!" to something a little more forward looking and thinking. Life has spoken, and says I can be better. And so... being the student of Life that I am I enthusiastically am filled with excitement and say to you and Life...

Live some. Love some. Learn some. Everyday.

There are a few articles on this site that may be worth a read.

==========================================================

Life is Worthwhile if You... - Article by Jim Rohn

Life Tip 1) First, life is worthwhile if you LEARN. What you don't know WILL hurt you. You have to have learning to exist, let alone succeed. Life is worthwhile if you learn from your own experiences, negative and positive. We learn to do it right by first sometimes doing it wrong. We call that a positive negative. We also learn from other people's experiences, both positive and negative. I've always said it is too bad failures don't give seminars. We don't want to pay them so they don't tour around giving seminars. But the information would be very valuable – how someone who had it all, messed it up. Learning from other people's experiences and mistakes.

We learn by what we see - pay attention. By what we hear – be a good listener. Now I do suggest being a selective listener, don't just let anybody dump into your mental factory. We learn from what we read. Learn from every source. Learn from lectures, learn from songs, learn from sermons, learn from conversations with people who care. Keep learning.

Life Tip 2) Life is worthwhile if you TRY. You can't just learn; you now have to try something to see if you can do it. Try to make a difference, try to make some progress, try to learn a new skill, try to learn a new sport. Life is worthwhile if you try. It doesn't mean you can do everything but there are a lot of things you can do, if you just try. Try your best. Give it every effort. Why not go all out?

Life Tip 3) Life is worthwhile if you STAY. You have to stay from spring until harvest. If you have signed up for the day or for the game or for the project - see it through. Sometimes calamity comes and then it is worth wrapping it up. And that's the end, but just don't end in the middle. Maybe on the next project you pass, but on this one, if you signed up, see it through.

Life Tip 4) Life is worthwhile if you CARE. If you care at all you will get some results, if you care enough you can get incredible results. Care enough to make a difference. Care enough to turn somebody around. Care enough to start a new enterprise. Care enough to change it all. Care enough to be the highest producer. Care enough to set some records. Care enough to win.

Four powerful little words: learn, try, stay and care. What difference can you make in your life today by putting these four words to work?

==========================================================

I hope you all had a great day and made it over any and all obstacles in your personal goal paths. I wish you the best each day......I wish you no troubles or hardships in while pursueing your goals........

BE ALL YOU CAN BE!

Best wishes to you all.

December 15th, 2007: Agenda

So why did you decide to come back chillen?

Lets just say, I have many reasons why, and leave it at that, and move forward brotha!

Whats up NBS! What happenen.......Brotha!.......Are you tearing up the old cast iron? Are ya feeling it.....brotha!.......Ya better be rocken yourself man!

How is life treating the fellow forum brotha?

The agenda for today:

(From the the power of the mind thread article): No matter how high you jump, how fast you run or swim, how powerfully you row, you can do better. But sometimes your mind gets in the way.

Mind and body connection with fitness...........BABY!.......YES.......THIS ROCKS!

Two cardio sessions (one in the morning and one at night). In between I will perform Upper Body Weight Training (I do Upper/Lower Splits).

In addition, since I am deficiting, Ab/torso wrok will also begin at a prescribed plan.

Today is an off day from work and my calories will mirror this off work but will take in consideration the other activities but remain in a small deficit.

The first session of cardio starts just in a little while.....Gonna kick it......baby!

Morning cardio as much as I hate doing it (HEHEHE--its major suckage), sets the the tone and blood flow for the entire day......I feel it......and love the after effects......though it flat sucks making it.....What ever......Hehe :)

I remember when I started on my quest to lose 40 pounds, I used to put a picture in my garage (of a person I wanted to look like) and a picture of me beside it. Each time I cooked cardio/weight training I would move my pic closer to the other goal pic; if I decided (honestly) I sucked today, I would move it back further away from my goal pic (and this suckage could be a mental error that brought a wrong decision or an effort in the gym). And, every two weeks, I would replace the pic I was using with a new one......and saw the "results" unfolding in front of my eyes.........FIND YOURS PEOPLE>>>>>>>>>>YES.........FIND IT

I have been known that if a cardio session sucked, and the pic had to move back one peg, to go back in that same fricken day......and correct this complication. redo cardio (and adjust diet)....and move it back...I can be awfully stubborn when it comes to something like this. I drive my Doc...crazy..hehehhehehe.......she loves me. :) I dont let errors (that can be corrected) to hang very long.....if I can.

I have a different pic up now, one that is about 5 pounds heavier with beefy abs and the overall look I wish. Im only 3% off and know the work its gonna take.........So we take right off like a rocket of a launch pad!

I made a comment in a thread, that I was gonna run out in the snow after the 3rd session yesterday.....well it didnt snow.....but I went out and ran.......took the perdometer (Or what ever one calls it) with me, and did about a mile.....(and this is saying something to get this old fart out to run.....But Im the boss....not negative feelings contradictive to my goals........I rock this fricken thing....

Everyone have a enjoyable Saturday!

I will let you guys know how training went today off and on throughout the day.

You guys..........FLAT ROCK! :)

Best wishes to all of you!

Off to to do the first cardio session. I will be logged in still. I prefer doing cardio on an empty stomach in the am (just a preference only). I dont like feeling full when doing cardio or a feeling of being fed. Im getting hungry....so off I go.........HEHEHEE

Rock on brotha and sista's......... :)
