I agree that the steroid laws in the UK are a little odd; they basically say it's OK to use steroids so long as you have to buy them from the black market and have to rely on internet advice on how to use them.

I would like to take you up on another point though;

Moat killed himself so it brings to an end his roid-rage fuelled rampage. He had threatened to kill a member of the public for every inaccurate detail about himself reported in the press. Very strange and unfortunate incident.

The only people who claim that Moat was a threat to the public were the police

Here is Moat's hit count:

1) Cheating ex
2) Guy that was banging his ex and mother of his kids
3) The policeman that arrested him and impounded the van that he needed to work as a tree surgeon because he was carrying metals in the back which he was uninsured for - therefore denying him his ability to provide for his family

Total number of people harmed that hadn't previously wronged Moat - Zero!

Moat claimed a policeman framed him which is why he ended up inside (police don't seem to have mentioned that bit), they've also made claims about sudden threats to the public which only they seem to have seen, they then shot him twice with a tazer that hasn't been passed fit for police use while he had a gun pointed at his own head and most recently the parents have ordered a second autopsy as the one the police requested mentioned nothing about the effects of the tazer gun or even the presence of any marks left by the tazer.

I'm not usually one for conspiracy theories but looks to me like the police are covering their own tails here. Moat wasn't randomly shooting people, he fired no shots at anyone other than people he felt had previously screwed him over. And if you look at the fact that the copper that pulled him over and arrested him for metals in his van just happened to be outside his old house while she was with her new guy then you start to wonder if there was a bigger picture here that has been hidden.

Time will tell, but I still maintain that IMO steroids have ****-all to do with this, he was just a guy angry that the mother of his kids had started screwing another man the moment he was in jail. Very simple.

His parents should have gone a bit further and lobbied for the "Matthew Dear Law" - anabolics reclassified as Class A or B and possession w/o a prescription be made illegal. That would have made it harder for teens to play around with deadly "gym sweeties".

Matthew Dear's autopsy found that steroids weren't to blame for his death and his friend who sold him the drug walked free.

Were you aware of that?

Maybe not as the entire world press ran with the story of a boy who took steroids and a week later died of swelling to the brain but once the hysteria died down they didn't follow up with the actual facts.

With Raol Moat, like other mass murderers or serial killers, people need something to point at and blame just to make sense of everything and this time it's steroids. Maybe the next time someone goes crazy and kills people they'll find out he visited a Mosque once and blame Islam. It's just people being lazy. Moat was a ****ing lunatic, steroids didn't make him suddenly start killing people
