Hi everybody. Ok, are we ready to do this? YES we are!!! Rhonda, you can still do this. It's true the metabolism slows down when you quit smoking, but there are ways around it. Increase the excercise, drink more water and there are alot of lists around of foods that can help you increase your metabolism. Alright I'm weighing in at 220 for this challenge. I'm also focusing on the 10 pound club. My actual goal is to get as close to 200 as possible for my birthday on March 3.

right.. Im weighing in at 164lbs.. I think thats right.. my scales are being a little rubbish. One minute it will tell me one thing then i try again and it tells me something else. :(

Im going to the gym tomorrow.. will weigh myself on the electric scales that they have there and post my weight down.. but for now im in at 164lbs.

Good luck everyone. :)

Hi, all!

Yet another challenge to start! Boy, do I need it! :D

Ok, my starting weight is 140.5 lbs. Those water fluctuations are really onto me - I feel like a bouncing ball - up-down-up-down...

I did not do very well on calories today. Hubby and I took a day off to go skiing, so I ate bigger breakfast (for energy) and HUGE lunch (I was so hungry and big juicy hamburger was so delicious, I could not resist!)

Now I am home, at 1150 calories and have not even had dinner. :(
What's more annoying is that fitday says I burned only 100 calories by skiing. I counted only actual downhill time, because sitting on the lift would not be burning too many calories, right? But, now I am so TIRED I can barely move! I just feel like I burned a lot more then that. So, I don't know who to believe-the program or my body. I'm kind of sceptical of both.

Well, I'm just going to get back on track tomorrow and stay under my 1200 calorie limit.

Good luck everyone, let's do it!

Hey girls don’t worry I will be exercising everyday to try and kick start my metabolism. I want to do something different every day though because I don’t want to get stuck in the rut of thinking that walking and gym ect is the only forms of good exercise. So yesterday I went shopping for around 4 hours and last night I went to 10 pin bowling. Food yesterday

Breakfast
Toast x 2

Lunch
6 inch sub chicken from subway

Dinner chicken and chips

Snack
3 beers

Hi, all,

Well, I don't have much to say this morning except that I did pretty good yesterday on the calories. I drank some water, and had a piece of turkey for dinner, and clocked in just under 1300 cals.

There are days when I have a very strong sugar craving, but I've been trying to resist it so far. The problem with eating something sugary is not as much calories they pack but they don't really satisfy hunger and they make me hungry again very quickly. How do you guys deal with sweet tooth?

I feel like crying. :( Im weighing in at 169lbs. Ive put on about 5lbs in half a week.. Im hopeing like hell that the weight increase is due to my heavier jeans. but still.. ive put on weight. :(

Went to the gym today and burned 501cal.. its a start.. planning on going tomorrow and sunday and monday! Wether or not i do it is another matter.. but this increase has depressed me. :(:(

ok, you put on some pounds. Cry, and get back to work! It's gonna happen to us all our lives We'll add a few and take a few off, but guess what? Skinny people do that too! It's a part of life and we just have to accept it and go on. I didn't eat much yesterday. Spent most of the day by the phone waiting and praying for Julie to call me. Hubby had to make do with leftovers! Oh well, I made him breakfast this morning to make up for it. I'll be getting my excercise today through cleaning. Organizing my office! Tomorrow we are taking hubby's motorcycle to sell it, so we will be running around most of the day! Probably won't be around much til Monday. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

hey guys, sorry i havent posted much. i've been very good. i'm determined to LOSE!!! i've been exercising (cardio) 5 days a week on elliptical ranging from 35 to 55 minutes and 2 days of pilates + 1 day strength training. calories are at about 1050 per day. water level is high. still havent moved on that scale but i'm sticking with this as i see you all are having success. so congrats to all of you!

Yesterday, i made a delicious salad with shrimp stirfry, amazingly low in calories with wild rice - if you need some healthy ideas..
NTL- i have HUGE sugar cravings but it doesnt do me any good. it tastes good and then i have a sugar up and down and then i am hungry so i found it isnt worth it.
Pinky -DONT cry. this is life and this is why we are all on this. it sucks sometimes but ups and downs are life. look at all of us. (or me, is just stuck). hang in there, kid! you'll drop em in no time! stick to your plan, the plans are what works...RIGHT??!! gotta believe that or we have nothing.

Hi, Pinky,

Don't despare. Our weight fluctuates all the time. I seriously doubt that you actually gained that much only in a couple of days. Did not you mention that you were going to use different scales? All scales are not perfectly calibrated, so if you weighed yourself on different scales, in different clothes and different time of day, that can easity account for 5 lb difference. I know you hate to see such number, but the best thing you can do is put it out of your head, and concentrate on sticking to your meal and exercise plan.

When you weigh yourself, be consistant with the scale, the time of the day and amount/type of clothes & shoes you wear.

All the best, I know you can do it!

I found the same thing! If I give in, it just makes the next craving even worse and makes me so hungry!

Skyler, sounds like you're doing AWESOME with exercise! You're going to be so fit! Its really amazing that you can do all that!

Amazing you say, but it's not budging!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not letting that stop me. It has got to work eventually (i think i write that in every post).

As for stirfry - Wild rice or brown rice (boil in a bag is good and cheap), already cooked frozen shrimp (usually comes with tail on in frozen section), frozen mixed veggies (some say stirfry but its really your preference). Rice takes 1-10 minutes depending on what kind you buy for microwave. Use Wok, spray with nonfat cooking spray, put in veggies (they take about 6 minutes) on high, add soy sauce & i had some red pepper flake sauce (low cal, but spicy-fyi) or i've used some stir fry marinade you can find at the grocery but be careful some have high calorie content & it is a waste. Thaw the shrimp by running under hot water during first few minutes of veggies cookings, then dump them into the wok and let simmer on high to medium for another couple minutes until sauce is soaking in and shrimp is hot in the middle and veggies are hot (time depends on which veggies you use). Serve over rice, with a simple salad on the side (i had greens, broccoli/cauliflower already cut up, mini carrots, fat free honey dijon dressing). very filling and even my fiance loved it!
enjoy!

Skyler, thanks for the recipe! Its funny, I actually do something very similar with chicken breast, but for some reason it just never occured to me to use shrimp! I use crushed red pepper & soy sauce to spice up veggies. Sometimes I also add oregano, parsley, garlic powder and crushed dry onion. Gives veggies like broccoli and cauliflower a lot of flavor without adding calories, and my husband loves them prepared that way!

Hi, all,

I'll be out of the house tomorrow for an all-day thing, so probably won't post until really late. The bad part is that I'm going to have to eat out, which always means trouble for me. It is just so hard to resist french fries and burgers and cookies, especially when everyone else eats them.

I was good today and rode my stationary bike for 15 min. I'll try to sqeeze some strength exercises before I leave tomorrow.

I was watching the biggest looser the other day, and their training regimen is really hard! Even when my health was 100% I would not be able to do it. It really looked like torture to me rather then a path to health. Of course different people have their different exercise tolerance level and stamina, but to me one of their work outs would be the ultimate goal of fitness, not just a daily workout type thing.

We need to step up with our posts, we're falling way behind! C'mon, girls, lets get this thing rolling!

hey! NTL is totally right!! I was out all day as well but I went to pilates today which was great for strength exercising...then went to a seafood lunch out but i had shrimp and calamari salad so not too too bad. hope yall are doing great!!

Hi,all,

Hope everyone is doing well!

I am not really sure how I did yesterday. I was bad and succumbed to a gyro for lunch. Breakfast was good, 300 cals, and I just had some snacks for dinner (figured about 200cals), so my calories really depend on how much that gyro was. Fitday says it was 630(yeah!), but who knows.

The good part is that while at the expo I did an hour and half to two hrs of walking. Now it was just strolling throught the isles, but still, better then nothing. :) Oh yeah, and I did do my strength exercises yesterday before leaving, so good for me.

Today I'm horse riding, so should be good on exercise. I also lost another 1/2 lb! Whoo-hoo! Its really nice to see the scale move. ;)

Hope everyone is doing well!

hey all. hope everyone is having a good weekend. spent today walking around portland, maine which was fun. ate delicious/low cal seafood (mussells, oysters, scallops) and just got back.
