Ha, ha, yeah I guess not completely defferently, the pronunciaton is somewhat similar and if you wrote them out with English phonetics they'd sound similar. But with each languages tones they sound quite different.

For example Dien Thoai is telephone in VN and I can't remember in Chinese, but it might be like Zian Zoai or something. The the vietnamese don't use the Chinese character sets. They used to, but the French came here like 300 years ago and 'modernized' it. They also taught them to make pretty decent bagguetts.
