Taking Control!

Hi Guys! Most of you won't remember me, but I was a member clear back in 2004 and off and on since. My life has surely taken on a rollercoaster ride!

I was in an emotionally/verbally abusive marriage for 20 years. I suffered from depression and packed on the pounds! After a very dark period of depression and suicidal thoughts, I finally left my ex and got a divorce!! I finally started learning the full scope of just how depressed I actually was. I started gaining self esteem again, I started laughing again...and I found my best friend!!! I got married three weeks ago and I'm in a super good place in my life. Now I'm ready to give this my all!!!

I actually have alot of downtime at work, so I started watching YouTube and checked out weight loss videos and videos on exercise, drinking more water, sugar intake, ect. I realized that I was actually very addicted to sugar, and after doing the math, I'm consuming up to 8 times the daily recommended amount of sugar! YIKES!! I've decided to do a sugar detox, only consuming the daily recommended amount of 25 grams!

I'm not going to count calories, not yet. I'm going to focus on moving more, eating less, eating ALOT less sugar and chugging that water!!!

Wish me luck!

Congratulations on getting out, and again on getting married! Great to hear you´ve found yourself again and are ready to take excellent care of yourself. Looking forward to following along with your journey: best of luck!

Thanks LaMaria! Its been quiet the journey but I'm in such a great place right now! ITS TIME!

Nice to meet you Korrie--glad you got out of a bad relationship and are in a god marriage now :)
Looking forward to following your progress!

Hi, Korrie. So glad you got out of the nasty marriage & into a happy, loving one.
It sounds like you are well & truly ready to get healthy. I’m one of the Australians :)

Hi Korrie noticed your comments on a few of the diaries I follow . I'm Irish also , there were 3 of us at one point ! Congratulations on your wedding . Be happy

Its great to see you back Korrie.

Congratulations on getting married. Fantastic news! I'm sure that your lovely new husband will support you with your efforts to get healthier.

Good luck with cleaning up the sugar. Water and sugar are (as you well know) two fantastic places to start.

thanks everyone!! I'm super excited about this new time in my life :)

Yesterday was an easy day, which surprised me. I watched a ton of weight loss success stories on youtube. I expect this is the easy time, when I'm full of new motivation....but I'm hoping to establish patterns so that when the motivation dies down a little, I'll still be doing well.

Thanks girl, I am!!

So I thought I'd try something new and I'm glad I did...these StarKissed Tuna Creations packets of flavored tuna....actually super yummy! 90 cals and 14 grams of protein124336663_408478960533534_3346177668227975035_n.jpg!

That sounds like such a strange combination - but not bad stats! Plus it reminds me I have tuna somewhere and could make tuna wraps for breakfast tomorrow :p

Hi Korrie. Welcome back. I'm so impressed with how you turned your life around like that. The weight loss should be a doddle! ;)

I consider getting out of the marriage my first life renewal and the weight loss will be my next!

It tastes very similar to BBQ pork honestly!

How are you with salt, Korrie? I had to drastically reduce my salt intake years ago & that was a struggle. So much of what we buy is loaded with salt & sugar. Does the tuna have much of either?

Does the tuna have much of either?
That's what I was wondering. Anything bbq-flavored I can usually only have in small amounts, combined with plenty of neutral stuff, because of how overwhelmingly intense it tastes.

As one of the member who remembers you, welcome back :)

I am very glad life is sooo much better for you now :hurray:

So I did my daily weigh in and I lost another 2 lbs... How did I loose 4 lbs in two days? Not that I'm complaining lol.... We're putting up the Christmas tree tonight, it's been a throughly enjoyable Saturday!

I'm not worried about salt right now. One step at a time. Here's the go on the tuna... Screenshot_20201114-173536_Chrome.jpg

if it is lower in salt than you normally consume, the rapid loss could be and probably is water, reducing your sugar intake will have the same effect as carb also make the body hold onto more fluid which is why there is always a big weight drop for those who go low carb or keto, then the rate of loss drops back to a normal rate.
