Steve's Journal

Pu$$y! Flyinfree and I do it all the time:D

lol. i'm from the north. it was 60 something with no humidity when i left here on Monday morning...i get to orlando and its 90 something and 100% humidity.

I was sweating standing in place.

well this weekend was an utter disaster. didn't make it to the 10k on Saturday due to some issues on Friday. i managed to enjoy the fire department pig roast on Saturday evening though and add to my bad eating habits for the week. I also continued to eat poorly on Sunday night with my lovely General Tso Combo meal for dinner (i was at work until 11).

Gonna get back on track today. I need to get myself into a gym. I am thinking of joining one of the YMCAs here on LI. When you join certain ones you get the same access at a few other branches. That will help because there is a branch near my gf's which will allow me to get to the gym on the days I am down there and the branch I would go to on most days is on the way to work and thankfully open early enough that I can actually get in there and get something done before having to leave for work.

Speaking of work...back to it. peace out.
edit: almost forgot...

alrighty...i joined fitday to help keep track of what I am eating and count calories...i'm not sure how accurate the daily caloric estimator is on there...it tells me as a seated person with some movement that I should be eating 3000 calories a day. of course adding in sleep to my activities lowers that to like 2600.

I am planning on joining the local Y next week. Gotta get in gear and get myself looking good for Florida for New Years!

ehhh?

Not at all. It's only good for tracking caloric intake. The rest is crap.

Got something for you, though, later today (when I have time to finish the write-up), that is about as accurate as an estimation gets.

I hold out hope too. It's just very hectic right now with EMT class, fire schools, hospital rotations, traveling for work, and other events. Things will settle down soon.

Bah. Looks like I don't have time for the write-up, and it occurs to me anyway that the kind of people who might benefit from it wouldn't even bother to read it. XD

Please give me the following information:

Height in inches
Sex
Age in years
Body Mass in lbs
Body Fat (if known) in %
Activity Level
Protein Intake Level
Exercise schedule

So far I've got:

Sex - male
Age - ?
Mass - 195 lbs
Fat - ?
Activity - ?
Protein Intake - low (P.S. FIX THIS)
Exercise Schedule - 3 miles once a week?? :p

Also, I got the impression from what you wrote earlier that you would have a YMCA membership by now. And be using it. It is my observation that you are a dirty dirty liar.

fat...the one pinch test had me at 22 mm...whatever that corresponds to in % (haven't been able to do the 9 point test yet)

activity: combination of field work (walking standing for 8 hours a day) and any firefighting/ems activities (lifting, moving heavy gear, wearing turnout gear and humping hose)

protein intake: approximately 25-30% of my daily caloric intake of 2000 calories

exercise: sporadic runs 2-3 miles each a few times a week (not this week or last week)

and yes i wanted to start a membership at the Y. haven't had time to get there. monday i promise.

will be out of town this weekend. i will be getting a workout in during an alumni row/race during the crew reunion. should be fun and tiring and i am likely to be uber sore on sunday.

i'll need someone to help massage my muscles...any takers?

Well I am back from the Reunion weekend. It was quite the event. I did row about 4k meters on Saturday morning. Let me tell you...I never remember it being that painful. I can feel the soreness starting to set in. I haven't used most of those muscles in a long time.

The most memorable time was meeting the bow seat of the 2004 US Olympic 8 which won gold in Athens. If you saw it, it was the guy who "jumped" into the water after teh finish. So I got to hold an Olympic gold medal and talk with him for a few hours. What a treat. :)

OK back to my eating habits.

Breakfast: 1 bowl mix of Kashi Strawberry Fields and Cinnamon Harvest plus 1/2 bowl of Cinnamon Harvest with 1/2 cup milk; 1 cup pomegranate juice and vitamins.

2 cups of coffee at work. (made way too strong...was cracked out half the day)

Snack: Stonyfield Low-fat strawberry yogurt

Lunch: Buffalo and blue cheese chicken salad, apple, granola bar and water

Snack: Apple, 1/2 granola bar

1/2 glass of pomegranate juice

Dinner: 1.5 bowls Corn chipotle soup, half a whole wheat quesa-duh-la w/low fat cheese

I made the decision not to join the Y. I had 2 main reasons for joining. One was an interest in swimming, but after thinking about it for a while, I honestly don't think either of my shoulders could handle any type of swimming activity...imagine both shoulders subluxing at once and me drowning cause I can't move my arms. The second was there is a Y that is close to my girlfriends place. I don't see myself dating her much longer so that kind of makes the reason a mute point.

I will be signing up with my local gym again. It's about 5 minutes up the road so that makes for easy access pre and post work hours. It's also cheaper by $10/month with no $75 initiation fee. It's also within running distance. Its about 1.5 miles each way. nice warm up and warm down from lifting me thinks.

You're too far away from me for me to give you a deep tissue massage. The best I can do is massage by proxy :D

Tuesday...slept like **** last night...sudden onset of stress at work does not make steve a rested boy. weighed myself for S&G and was 194. Probably from dehydration though.

Breakfast: 2 healthy blueberry eggos, 1 bowl mixed cinnamon harvest and strawberry fields, WATER...so thirsty.

Snack: Stonyfield fat-free Chocolate Underground yogurt; water...lotsa water.

Lunch: WW wrap with ham, munster and spicy mustard; apple; granola bar; slice of pizza

Snack: unripe banana

Dinner (10:30 PM): Peanut Butter and Banana sandwich on WW bread.
