Sparrows Experiment

I love days like that when you step on the cardio machine and you jsut seem to be in the zone. Could go for hours
Hope anything works out with the house. I wish I had a pool would be nice in the middle of the summa but I have a few friends that have pools so I crash there when ever it is hot
Brownie point for your man

Good luck with the home buying!

It looks like we're going to get that sucker! I'm sooooo excited I cannot even tell you. Now I can do lessons from my backyard and not have to impose on others!

Today was tri class after some swim lessons. This is my last week of swim lessons. sniff. I like the couple of kids I have finishing up right now, they're really cool.

Tri class was 30 min of hilly spin followed by running drills and abs and then swim. I ditched the swim cause I got stopped by my boss to talk about some things regarding Masters. Its supposed to be an "easy" or "crosstrain" day anyway, so I felt like I'd done enough. Tomorrow is another running day.

Spin was a little painful today. My legs are tired from the weekend and yesterdays run, I guess. The running drills were awesome. We did a ton of suicides, burpies, 'leap frogs' and sprints. I felt very strong, and very fast. Abs were fine, I just wish we'd done planks. I'll do some on my own tonight.

My diet has been cleaned up a little lately and I can tell big time. I have way more energy. I've resumed my post workout shakes again too and I know they have a positive impact on my next days performance.

Question regarding running..in the running forum if anyone has some imput...

Chris,
you are in Central Fl, and there will be an IRONMAN "great Floridian" and "Intimidator," and health fair in Clermont, near Disney Sat Oct 20th. I should finish the race around midnight (ok- just kidding, hopefully about 3:30). show up and we can have an early, "about to die" dinner.

Or, there is the Disney Marathon in january 08. I plan torun that one in prep for the full Iron. You could be ready to "complete" a marathon by January, even if you only lose 10 of the 20 lbs.

Chris there are also loads of duathlons that you might want to look into as incentive to get back in shape. Then you don't have to worry about the swim factor :)

Sparrow,
Actually the swim wouldn’t be as much of a problem if I could find a place to get in some swim time and training.

Running; I am planning on giving running a try as I slowly work my way up to it (doing a lot walking right know). I use to love to run, I played sweeper in soccer for years ran my butt off almost everyday for years (might be some of the reason for the knee pain).

Cycling; that might the easiest of the three. As I am get my road bike bake into shape and hopefully it will start to cool off soon and I will back the trails.

Who knows maybe a dual and/or a tri maybe in the future, but first I need to work a lot and the some more.

F.F. I think I will have to wait on the Marathon, but I might try to make it out to Clermont 10-20-07, and take some pics of the race.

p.s. good luck on the house Sparrow

Well Chris, you sound motivated and no matter what you choose to do, at least you are interested in getting back in shape. Thats awesome! Everyone here is so motivating and helpful, its a great place to come for that extra nudge we all need every now and then! I'd opt for the bike and continued walking. As long as your bike is fitted for you correctly you won't aggravate your knees and I feel the bike strongly and positively impacts running performance. I'd swear by it.

Measly workout of 2000 in the pool today. I feel kinda thrashed so I dind't mind the easy day. It was supposed to be a run day but I'll just do my longer run tomorrow.

Rest is as important as working out - muscles aren't built in the gym, they're built when you rest...

Amen brotha. Now if I can get my young male clients to believe in that I will be set. They have so much energy and want to spend all their time in the gym.

I subbed tri class today. Had them doing "stations" around the gym in groups of 2, even the rock wall. It was really successful and everyone seemed to have fun. I only got in 15 min of HIIT on the tread and some plyometric type stuff but I'm going to be able to go back for my weights and long run in the afternoon when my husband gets home. I need to do 8 miles today. Tonight we're going to dinner and a play in the city with another couple with some tickets given to us. Should be fun.

8 MILES!! that is great. Hope you have fun at the play what is it?

Made my 8 miles at 8:30 pace whooo hooo! my feet hurt. I did it right after lunch *urp* ick. that was hard. I hate food in my belly when I run. Had time for weights as well. Its a red letter day! Our babysitter fell through. not sure we're going to make the play. Its part of "Music Circus" which is a series of musicals all summer. I'm actually not sure what this one is tonight! We were given the tickets. I'd have to look it up. All it says on the tickets is "Music Circus". lol. I'm sure its great whatever it is. Still working on a new babysitter. bummmmer

got to go out last night afterall :) It was jekyll and hyde in a musical. it was really good
Today I was pretty sore and beat up from the running so I did pilates this morning and coached my swim class and came home.
tomorrow a group of tri gals are getting together to run 9 on the road. I might join them, we'll see. Sounds a bit ambitious at the moment but maybe if I rest up today...
eating pretty well. Feel thinner today. sometimes NOT working out makes me feel that way. strange.

8:30 Pace for 8 mile is excellenet. Great job

Rest is sometimes the best thing for the body and it repays you by feeling great

Got to go run 8.5 miles with the gals this morning out on the ROAD. How refreshing it was to get off the dang treadmill! I ran with a girl of similar speed but it was more of a pace workout and we stayed about 8:45 pace. It was perfect. I didn't have to fight myself and I had a lot left over. I sprinted the last one at 7:07 :)
Confession: had the "loaded brownie" ice cream last night. its either breyers or dryers that puts that out. wow it was yummy and I felt nice and gross this morning before I burned it all off in my run!
