Sparrows Experiment

Off to a date night. whoo hoo. We're going on a walk then getting coffee. lol. Simple luxuries :)

Well that's better than what I'm usually full of I suppose :)

Edited to add: Well, since you're queen of experimentation... lol What about tofu?

Tofu Smoothie

yeah tofu is ok. I have some in my fridge right now. its never something I look forward to. lol. but maybe a smoothie is a good place for it :)

Hey Sparrow -

I was sorting through some prayers I had written down and when i read this one for some reason I remembered your signature and wanted to post it here for you to see:

Do everything with a mind that lets go.
Do not expect any praise or reward.
If you let go a little, you will have a little peace.
If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of peace.
If you let go completely, you will know complete peace and freedom.
Your struggles with the world
will have come to an end.

insight meditation - achaan chah

Thats pretty cool :) It reminds me of a quote, and often seen as a bumper sticker "Let go, and let God". I don't think I'm living up to my "don't sweat the small stuff" thing yet. I seem to be more sweaty than ever. lol:D

Tofu is so good! You shd try sauted it with some shrimp and vegies (pea). I'm not sure about smoothie tho  you think it will taste like soy bean milk? ... but thicker?...

Tofu and God on a fitness board . . . who would ever guess . .

well umm, as I recall yours weren't that bad off either *remembers sparrow's pics thread* :)

OHhh very nice of you to say so Stingo. For the record, I wasn't fishing for that  As we all know, I'm way over critical of my own self. I guess we all are

I know - we're always our own worst critic. But really, you're doing quite well in the abs department yourself (and other areas besides).

By the way, I went to the store today and got the ingredients for that soy milk smoothie - it's quite nice. Tastes a bit lighter than I expected it to even. (Couldn't very well having ya try a recipe I'd recommended but not tried, now could I? :))

AH awesome! I'm actually on my way now to trader joes to get some organic stuff.

I used Organic Silk - and followed the recipe to a t (except that I used a fresh, not frozen banana, and real sugar instead of sugar substitute) To my palate, it's quite nice - I may have to make this for myself now lol.

Edited to add: Oops, I opted for the raspberries - yum.

I got some organic soy, some raspberries and even some light coconut milk. I've never looked at that before but though a little higher in fat, its actually something I may add to shakes just to mix it up a bit. I also think unsweetened cocoa powder may be a new possibility. Its totally natural. I have flax seeds I'll add to it as well and plain yogurt that may work, I'll try it and see how my body responds with the yogurt. I thought getting soy yogurt was a little overkill. I also got some ezekiel bread and flax bread along with almond butter. I love the taste of flax, its strange. I also LOVE almonds and almond butter isn't half bad! I had some to taste I'll do some new stuff tomorrow.

You know that cooks in the Middle Ages used almond milk (they'd boil the almonds and add some things to the mix) instead of cow's milk a lot of the time simply because it didn't spoil as quickly as the other did - so these milk alternatives aren't exactly a new idea. You seem excited about your choices - this is a good thing. I'd be very interested to know what you thought of the smoothie of course. :)

7am-2 eggs, 1 piece sprouted whole grain bread
10:30am-1c soy milk, 1 scoop vanilla whey, 1 scoop fiber, 2T flax seeds, 1/2c raspberries, vanilla extract, 1 piece sprouted whole grain bread
1:30-2T almond butter, 2 celery stalks
5:00-chicken breast, 2c cauliflower, 3c salad w/other veggies, 1T olive oil, balsamic vinegar
PM-tea
this is still only about 1300 cals

Workout: 1 hour spin (all hills today), 2000yd (80 laps) swim
Feeling good today. I had way more energy spinning than Monday (larger breakfast perhaps? ;)) and didn't have any negative consequences from breakfast so that was all good. I didn't take anything extra with me because honestly I couldn't have eaten it even if I had. I was full from breakfast for a while.
I ditched weights today for the swim. I thought that was actually a good move. I did a lot of conditioning type stuff in the pool.

Did you mix the soy milk with the rest of the stuff or have 'em separately? (And what'd ya think of the soy milk?)

yeah I blended it into a smoothie that was really good. I thought it would be a little on the nastier side especially with the fiber (its a colonix program my husband and I are doing and it tastes like banana, but a gross banana.lol) and the flax but the raspberries saved the day and covered up any gross taste. it was yummy. I did use the soy milk and it was totally fine. I have unsweetened soy so I used some stevia to sweeten it a little but although the taste was very "soy-beanish" it was good. I think I'll do variations on this shake every post workout.
