Sparrows Experiment

*puts bonbons away quickly*
I'm just tired, just need to get caught up on sleep. I'm noticing things in my everyday activities. My legs feel like they have super strength. That sounds cheesy, but its true. I put on a lot more resistance on top of resistance in spinning with a good turn over and I can keep it up the entire hour. Today for cardio bosu workout I usually feel totally wiped out after just a small time. Our instructor really really pushes us on that and it feels anaerobic the whole time. I had more than enough stamina and my running feels so powerful. I have no endurance right now in my run, but I have some great speed going on. I'm also able to hold my "pose running" form much easier lately and I'm not sure if thats the strengthening or just more practice.

We'll probably just go into FL3 after this. I don't really know if I want to go into hypertrophy. I'm leary about too much extra muscle. I'm trying to get a better power to weight ratio so as long as i can pack the muscle but stay the same weight, or better I'm good. Fat Loss doesn't seem to be bulking me though and its really leg heavy, not as much arms.

Anyway, thanks for the questions Tom. I was starting to feel lonely in the little corner of my pages here :)

FL III was the hardest one for me, but it really got me conditioned to lifting. That's the thing about Alwyn's programs, no matter how much like a wet dishrag you feel after completing one, he's always got another that will bring you even closer to that feeling than the previous one.

You can do Hypertrophy I then Strength I and see how you do. The extra muscle you add in H1 will help a lot in S1 I think.

And as for feeling lonely, that goes both ways. :)

I'm tired of the gym. I feel bad for saying this but I'm looking foward to when my little one gets into school and I can do some outside stuff. I was very unmotivated to go work out today. My right ankle is hecka hurting from the bulgarian splits yesterday. I knew it would, it was hurting as I was resting it on the bench during the exercise.

I wanted to run today but the ankle issue made it hard. I got to about 3 miles and got bored and hurt. I mean, how much people watching can you really do running on the hamster wheel. I'm sick of my music too, I'd rather run in silence at this point. Boredom highlights pain and i wasn't into pushing past that today.

After the 3 I did 5min on the stairs and 15min on the eliptical. All that was purely a waste of time, and I knew it. I just felt guilty for such a sucky run. I'm wiped out, and thats weird. I feel like I'm hardly doing anything lately.

Went to the dr today. The heart palpatations continue and my dr ordered an EKG and a series of what I felt were unnecessary blood tests to test electrolytes and thyroid. Anyway, I'm sure its all fine, but my husband made me do it.

have a good weekend everyone

Yeah. Rest sounds like a good idea. If you're getting bored with the gym, take some time off and try a new workout or maybe do a workout based around the outdoors. If your ankle is hurting give it time to rest. Try not to aggravate it while it is hurting. Don't forget rest is an important factor in any workout routine. You don't need to feel like you're slacking off if you have to take a week off from exercise.

Have a nice day!

:)

Thanks Spice. You don't know me too well yet :) A week off! unheard of. I'd never make it! Really, I do appreciate your post.

I took the day. I actually normally take the weekends off now that I'm in off season. I'm busy enough on most weekends I hardly notice. Today was no exception. Soccer game at 8:30 and then I spent most of my day preparing for 35 Bible study leaders from church to gather at my house for a meeting. We had a TON of food and it was all gone practically the minute it was out of the oven. There was NONE left for me! lol. So I just got a salad at my favorite mex place just now.

Ankle was tender but okay today. I may swim tomorrow after church. I need to make swimming more of a priority right now.

Thats about all I have to say!

hahahah the drama of endurance extreme athletes...!!!!

you guys!! just let the precious lil lady cycle sometimes! hheheeh

You should see all the drama about trying to get into M-Dot sanctioned events with the Ironmen! hhehe We have a few on 'suicide watch!' well at least one that I kno of-- but i am doin better now that i've started talking about it.

glad you made it thru your peak 'drama momma'

hahaha

Okay, I set the alarm this morning for 5:30 thinking I'd actually get my butt out of bed and run before church? haha who am I kidding. My rational was that I was getting an extra hour of sleep, but it doesn't really benefit when you stay up an extra hour on the other end ;)

I succumbed to the fact that I'm just not working out again today. Its hard for me to make peace with peace. lol. I should just soak up this time of rest. In not so long its about to get wicked.

What else can I blab. Three more weeks of FL2 and then body fat testing before Thanksgiving. Good timing eh? :D I have been a bit more lax on diet this weekend but my body seems forgiving. Maybe its my big bulging muscles eating up all the energy. LOL.

Okay, so things to work on this week. Here is my schedule from here on out until I bump it up at the turn of the New Year:

M-spin and run-higher carb
T-lift and swim-lower carb
W-spin and run-higher carb
TH-lift and swim-lower carb
F-longer run or pilates if I need the day off-lower carb
Sa-longer swim-lower carb
Sun-off and cheat meal (higher carb)

So where are pics of these big bulging muscles? :)

Well since I never did get around to the "before" pics the "after" won't be very impressive. haha. How about this. IF I get to my body fat goal in 3 weeks I'll post pics.

FF'er

then we can see the pics next year.

Ok ok. Well the truth is its a money thing right now so I have to wait just a tad before I register. Barbs is not in danger of selling out this early, that I know for sure!

Well hubby came home from overseeing the BMX track at church and we did a high five as I went out the door to run. The time change thing is throwing me off. It seems so late right now. I did a 5.7 mile loop in just under 45 minutes. I put that into my pace calculator and thats a 7:53 min mile :D happy days! It didn't even hurt or seem that hard. I love the dark. I had some side ache stuff at the beginning because I literally ate dinner a half hour before I went out but I warmed up nicely into the run. I notice when I'm on the road I have a lot less shin pain than on the tread. thats strange to me. The paths I was on were cement too. I don't dare run in the road at night. I'd be dead for sure. Anyway, I came home and sat in my FREEZING COLD pool as a substitute for an ice bath and now i need to stretch.

FF the body fat goal is only 3 % from where I am now so the pictures aren't going to look much different. The only reason I made the goal at all was because I needed one not pertaining to tri! Maybe some extra muscle but thats it. Thats why theres no need to post. Y'all have seen me before :)

and p.s. I wasn't beggin for a pick. I think you should be completely hidden forever. I was trying to help buy you some time to not post one... I had you all set up to wait until Sept next year.

BUT- now you got me worried. What did you do, go get a full body tatoo or soemthing?

ha. no my point exactly. no need to post pics when nothing looks any different ;) Even if I did, who cares.

Woke up feeling fantastic. no pains or aches. Normally my shins hurt a lot the next day after a harder run. I think the pool helped. Today I did a very hard spin class followed by 15 min of treadmill sprint intervals-1 min on-1 min off. The lows were 6.5 and the highs were 9.0. Felt awesome and I got some ice from the cafe before coaching to be sure I didn't do any damage.

Went to Chevys for lunch with my husband. I made wise choices. Have an eye dr appt and then back to the gym for PM Masters followed by small group at our house. What a great day, for a Monday.

A little bit of a rough day-situationally speaking. I'm trying to keep a positive slant on things, but its making me want to stress eat!

NROL workout A today back to 12 reps and 60 min full rest between supersets BUT we're keeping the weight we finished at with 8 reps last week. It was hard, but we did it.
After that I did some pool time. Wonderful to be in there, but wow was I zapped from the lifting.

300 warm up
30 minute timed swim-84 laps for the 30 minutes

I plan to do the 30 min swim each month to see how I improve. I fought tooth and nail to get through it and I was pretty happy with 84 laps at this stage of the game since I literally swim once every 2 weeks :(

Wow today is busy. I worked out before noon and I still haven't showered! EWWW! Now its back to the gym to work. Neverending. Secretly, I really love it ;)

I did my wednesday spin/run routine. Generally M/W are the same and T/TH are the same and then Friday and sometimes Saturday I hit whatever I feel needs some TLC in my "training". Tomorrow my lifting buddy can't lift so we'll switch our Thursday with Friday which means I get to attend tri group tomorrow. yay.

I was sore from yesterday, but a good sore. Sore in my thighs and middle back. I am noticing distinct muscle definition in my back now, which is weird cause I don't feel like NROL is very top heavy. Anyway the soreness was the kind that makes me work really hard because I can feel the muscles being challenged. My ankle is still weird from the bulgarian split squats last week so I'm still careful with my running but overall the shins are behaving.

I did finally shower ;) and then I went to the gym and got gross again this morning. lol. Whats the point?! haha

I did tri class today and it was okay. The run was awesome but the swim was disappointing. Just boring and not a lot of point in what we did.

Core work 20 min
35 min run: working on our 200 meter sprint time (.12 on the tread)
5 min warm up
.12 mi at 9.0
.20 recovery at 6.5
repeated this 10 ish times.
I was happy to note that 9.0 is no longer my sprint. I could run that in an uncomfortable zone, but easily could have bumped it up. I was glad too that I didn't need to dip below 6.5 to recover for about 2 minutes. No doubt about it, my legs are much stronger

Swim:
200 warm up
100 worth of drills
300 kick
25 sprint
25 easy
50 sprint
50 easy
75 sprint
75 easy
800 straight boring swim
cool down

Ankle was irritated today. I need to wear my orthotics more during the day I think. I've been wearing my boots and they have a heel. Just did workout B of NROL and called it a day. I wasn't feeling my strong self-but then its been a harder cardio week this week too. I cheated and did my body fat early since I was at the gym a bit before my friend and had time to kill. It was 17.9 err. I guess I can't expect much in 6 weeks? I dunno. Well thats about it. i'd love to run tonight but I may just take the day off since I haven't had one this week and run or swim tomorrow. Have a nice weekend everyone
