Sparrows Experiment

Thanks Tom. Oddly it WAS fun! ha. Old people can be quite a hoot. :)

I haven't forgotten about NROL, in fact, I have a friend interested as well and we want to do it together. I just need to get the darn book. Looking at ebay...

Amazon has it for just over $17 + shipping new. Their marketplace has it cheaper used - not sure what the exact amount is though.

Thanks. Yeah I found it used on Amazon for 9 bucks...but I'm not sure that was the hardcover or how long that price would last. I'd really like to just take a few hours and go browse it at Boarders...but like thats really gonna happen! I always have a little person with me

I was up late last night listening to new tunes I want for "relaxation" while I stretch and stuff. I need to be motivated to sit still and do that every day. I'm putting a new playlist together. I found a new favorite as I'm a die-hard fan of Andrea Bocelli. LOVE his music and my new favorite came about while watching "Blades of Glory" haha funny movie...but I like that kind of humor...Its "Con Te Partiro" on his "Romanzo" album. It is the one I don't have. He sings it with Sarah Brighton. I'm sure its on her albums too...shes also very good (I'm a 'Phantom' lover as well). Anyway, thats gotten me in a relaxed mood this morning as I'm ready to go grind it out on the spin bike and pool :)

I'll edit my workout later but I had time to kill. Tri class runs today, which I'm not doing of course so I'm spinning from "Sausalito to San Francisco" today and then doing a small pool workout with tri class.

edit: hills hills and more hills, only 1100 yd swim afterwards. I only had 20 min to spare before i had to get the kiddo

As far as I know there only is a hardcover version...

I've seen Ms. Brighton on stage, back in the days when she was Mrs. Andrew Lloyd-Weber, though I can't for the life of me remember which show it was. You might want to try some opera or some classical - some consider it to be very relaxing.

It would be so funny if everyone on this board did an eye shot avatar for just a week or so. We all know each other by our eye. lol. :)

random thoughts, by Katie

I know!..and we all should! If we all did it that might really weird the "new guy" the one week he/she decides to check out the forum :)

I think somebody's bored... :)

Thats what happens when you take away my running!

Today I did an easy workout of 2100 yds just a lot of drills and stroke work. A nice finish to a tiring week. I'm happy I got way more yardage out of this week in the pool than usual. I think I did close to 12,000 yds for the week. When I was in high school that would have been my total for ONE day! I probably biked about 100 miles and I got in most of my weight training, all of my stretching and shin strengthening. My kids think its a fun game when I drop 20 pencils on the ground and pick them up one by one with my toes, or when I "write" the alphabet with my pointed toe in the air. We all do it. ha. I guess thats some good PREVENTION for them :)

I took my eye down cuz it felt funny. But- I will put it right back up there if you say so coach!

maybe
FF

yeah its kinda creepy huh? Well we could both put our eyes back up and see if others catch on ;) lol

Went to some garage sales this morning. The kids think its SUPER fun to use their allowance for junk. haha. We actually found a very high quality set of couches that will fit in our living room in the new place perfectly. We have a living room and family room..for the first time ever. It requires extra furnature! I had my treat-a Starbucks iced coffee with a splash of nonfat milk and 3 splenda. YUMMM. It was a great morning.

I hadn't planned on the gym but later in the morning the kids actually asked to go..so I got myself in the mood and we went. Our gym childcare is really super fun and the bigger kids rarely get to go anymore because of school. Pretty funny when they WANT to go. I walked 5 min on the tread to warm up my shins. Since doing some of the yoga (thanks FF!) and stretching/strengthening, my shins have gotten a wee bit tender again. Is this a good thing?

After the tread (I had to really restrain myself from starting to run!) I went to the eliptical and mimicked running (didn't use the handles and put it at high resistance) for 5 minutes and then went backwards (used handles) 5 minutes squatting down so my legs were at 90 degrees while moving my feet for every 30 sec of each minute. That really made my quads BURN! I alternated that for 45 min.

Then 15 min of the moving stairs at level 11 doing intervals

Then chest and shoulder weights paired with some abs. I was able to do my decline pushups today (decline off the bench to the floor) without much wrist problem. It hurts a little now, but it didn't then, which is a first in a while. I was also able to bench today which has been hurting in the past few months. I benched my last set of 12 at 80lb today. not sure I've done that before, normally I do 65lb. I was too scared to see how much I could put on since nobody was with me.

Then I stretched...a lot...but my shins have been REALLY hurting today. I'm back to walking funny.

Went to a birthday bbq and ate a massive hamburger, macaroni salad and cake . This may sound dorky but I'm not sure the last time I actually ate a hamburger. Some foods I just stay away from completely. Hamburgers are one. It was a late party though and I'd hardly eaten all day so I just didn't care what I ate.

Thats the day. its been fun.

I ate SO bad yesterday. i was eating brownies at like 11pm. Plus all the other garbage all day. So I planned to get up and take a long ride on my road bike. Didn't happen. I'm such a sloth in the mornings! I got up and didn't have to be at church till 10:30 so I did 45 min on the eliptical and hoped that was some redemption. Ironic thing was I did weigh when I woke up. I always like to punish myself by seeing the numbers of my gluttony :) I was UNDER 130 today! random. sooo random. I eat super clean, and I stay at 131-132, I eat crap and I go under 130. Anyway, nothing fancy on the eliptical just 5 min forward, 5 min backward at level 10. My heartrate never went above 122. I know I'm eating very out of balance because of all the out of control cravings I have going on. I need to be more consistent.

okee dokee!!

you have a lil shin trouble so you are letting yourself fall apart!!! hhahahaha

oh wait,, you are a professional swimmer ALL DAY long. I want a bownie too.

i will put my eye back up now.

thank for the help with the bike routne it worked good. It sure is easier running up a hill, than taking a bike with you. makes no sense. We should just park a bike at the top of each hil. run up, then ride down- NIC EBREEZE.

have a great week.

60 min spin class. Pushed hard. Decided on the "Wildflower" Century April 27 in Chico. It'll give me something to focus on.
