Some SERIOUS Advice needed!

Cindy,

With all due respect, I don't ever base my recommendations on assumptions when speaking on a broad base. Doing so is down right fallacious.

You are assuming all people who eat at night are in a caloric surplus.

Tony and I merely stated the facts.

If you are in a caloric deficit, it doesn't matter how late you eat.

If you are trying to lose weight, eating in a caloric surplus is NEVER recommended. No matter what time of day.

Our point, at least I know my point was based on the fact that in order to lose weight, you MUST be in a caloric deficit. And as long as that variable is met, it does NOT matter when you eat.

I've helped a lot of people lose weight and the less "constraints" you place on people the better, IMO.

I'm done arguing with you.

You're on some sort of power/ego trip where you have to find fault with the advice of others.

I do have extensive knowledge in anatomy and kinesiology.

(Kinesiology is the study of human anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and exercise physiology)

and I do enjoy discussions regarding fitness.......but debating and arguing is a bit unappealing to me.

Okay, so I like to eat late at night, but only if it fits into my daily calorie allowance. I don't eat right before I go to sleep, but sometimes within an hour or two beforehand. Will this hinder me or is the amount that your metabolism slows down at night insignificant?

Even if I eat at night, I'm always hungry for breakfast when I wake up. If I don't eat something after dinner, then I may wake up with my stomach growling. But this isn't a case of late night snacking, I usually "save" up 100 or 200 calories for an after dinner snack.

In this thread I am discussing the topic at hand. Nothing to do with you. Please don't bring in personal issues that you have with my personality. It's very lame to say the least.

And your "extensive knowledge" is yet to be proven. I hope you stick around to show it off though!!! If I see misinformation being spouted off as gospel though, you darn well better believe I am going to call anyone on it.... and I expect the same toward me.

You're right. It couldn't be the fact that there are a few people roaming the boards as of late spewing misinformation and I want the community to have accurate information. No way could it be that!

If you are in a calorie deficit, you are in a deficit. You can't store something out of nothing.

MOST people when eating at night are pushing their calorie content for the day way over the edge.

It's not like they have 6 meals planned out at 300 calries for each meal and will have EXACTLY their needed calorie intake fulfilled at their LAST meal RIGHT before bed.

Most people when they eat before bed are INDEED eating EXCESS calories (that WILL turn to fat)
and therefore should AVOID eating before bed.

Take into account who your audience is. Anyone who is having trouble with weight or wanting advice for losing weight should NOT be eating before bed.

Cindy

If this is the scenario you meant, then you need to state that.

Also it doesnt matter if you eat 5 meals at 500 calories or 8 meals at 311 calories or differences in each meal, its the same daily total.

I'm a late night eater so I always leave 300-400 calories for my egg white omlette , low fat icecream , peanut butter and banana sandwiches or what ever I feel like diving into at 10 pm and have had no problem losing.

nvme, that sounds like me. :) I have a hard time falling asleep if my stomach is growling, so I like to eat some of my calories late.
