Sport Simple carbs after a workout? WHY and WHAT?

Sport Fitness
This is probably as ideal as it gets since glucose is what courses through the blood.

One could think that, but maltodextrin is actually better.
Its absorbed faster and doesnt need as much water to get Isoton either. Has to do with molekyl weight and osomality :)

Lol, man I'm desperate. But I'll just eat an apple and some almonds. Thanks for the response guys.

Apple and almonds post workout? If you don't have whey and simple carbs you can find something better than those still, you don't want fats (almonds) post workout anyway because it'll slow down digestion/absorption of whateve ryoure having. You'd be better off with a nonfat or really low fat chocolate milk...something with simple carbs, protein, and low fat.

- Whey/dextrose immediately following weight training.

- Lean protein/complex carb meal about an hour after your shake.

Dextrose/Maltodextrin

The site I read said that it was optimal to take both in your post-workout shake. Is 20-40 of whey/dextrose good, or should that 40 be a mixture of dextrose/maltodextrin? (or 40g dextrose + more malto)?

Lv, I was thinking. If a protein shake counts as 1 meal, why would I eat an hour later again? Shouldn't I wait 2-3 hours?

Just as the title says. I would love to have a snickers or something after a workout, seeing that I have almost taken all junk out of my diet. Why simple carbs though?

Well if you had to have a snickers, this would be the optimal time to eat it IMO. Along with some proper nutrients of course.

Got my Dextrose in!! Can I mix it with my protien post-workout? If not, how exactly do I take it?

You must put the dextrose in your mouth and wash it down with a protein shake.

Lol! My last question is actually the one I was mainly concerned with. I have come to the hard but firm conclusion that I indeed don't need a snickers!

Oh, okay! Thanks
