Sport Simple carbs after a workout? WHY and WHAT?

Just as the title says. I would love to have a snickers or something after a workout, seeing that I have almost taken all junk out of my diet. Why simple carbs though?

It's best to take some dextrose post workout (30G or so).
It makes sure that your proteine's are absorbed better by your body, and it tastes really really really good :D
 
They replenish lost muscle glycogen and help begin the repair/rebuild process of new muscle tissue.
 
Wow! This is important then. Ok. Where can I get that dextrose?

The owner of my favorite supplement store told me to try a local wine-making shop/supplier.

And I did..and I bought a massive tub of the stuff dirt cheap. I figure it'll last me a year or so.

How many of it do you use each workout? I get 30Grams Post and 30Grams Pre workout

Xenth: 2 TBS (36g carbohydrates) during and 2TBS after. Best taken with about half as much protein, from what I've read...just to keep it simple, mine ends up being 23g protein:38g carb, 'cause that's a scoop of ON whey and 2 TBS of dextrose. That's as close to 20g protein:40g carb as I can be bothered to get to. :) Works out to a 1.65:1 carb:protein ratio instead of the 2:1 I'd like, ideally.

You should be able to get some from your local health food store.

Or you could just buy straight glucose. :)

Isn't dextrose pure glucose in power form :confused: ?
 
Just another question...Is it ok to have "Grandmas Oatmeal Cookies" after a workout once in a while(there is 1g trans fat in 1 cookie). Please tell me what I want to hear. :)
