Sick people at work and PTO policies...a work-related rant!

Dallen is one of those weird germaphobes.

I dont get sick and I touch whatever the hell I want. I am not afraid of eating something that fell on the floor either, hell not even the sidewalk.

Just make sure to get higher levels of Vitamin D.

I'm finally over this weird cold bug...and I'll warn you all its definitely making the rounds.

To jetouleet...you have to understand that this rant is about my company forcing me to take all my PTO and not giving employees 'sick days'...and thus my options were:
A. call in sick , get dock'd pay and possibly get written up
B. go to work sick and do my best to avoid co workers so as to not get them sick

Really, Jimbob was in the same situation as me except he still had a day of PTO left, and he did take it.

My other comment is that many diseases, you are are HIGHLY contagious before you ever exhibit any symptoms. H1N1 is a prime example. By the time you start feeling bad and running a fever, you've been carrying it and spreading it for up to 48 hours. You're ignorant of the fact until its too late and you've infected your family/friends/co workers.

and since ignorance is no excuse for breaking a law, would you say its no excuse for spreading disease?

Of course you wouldn't. I do understand where you're coming from, and you're definitely entitled to feel that way. Normally when I fall ill, I do call in and avoid others. This rant was more about the PTO problems I face at work and the company shooting themselves in the foot by doing it this way.

Its a no-win situation for me or the company, or the co-workers I could've gotten sick.
BTW, I didn't spread it to anyone. :)
