Shine, it's awesome that you are soooo close to refeed.
I check out the other forum too sometimes, and yes, I find some of the moderators to be a bit full of themselves. I'm happy for anyone who has successfully completed refeed and maintained. But, it's a bit like some of them have forgotten what its like to battle. I think its called empathy and compassion, that's what seems to be missing in places.

LOL - I'm another one who looked at that and thought this looked better!

Hi shine - Congratulations on your success how exciting!!! It's so great to hear of successes when you're just starting out!

Sounds like you had a ball in Port Douglas - it's gorgeous up there!

As for the miscarriages, I had 4 along the way....but I now have 4 beautiful , healthy children, so I'm sure now that you're fit & healthy you have a great chance of having more beautiful babies! Good luck!!!

nickychic, we are both so close! It is such an exciting time! I have been doing little happy dances around the house in celebration! I hope you have been too.

sam, it's funny, because now things feel much better. Don't know what was going on (a mystery deviation? a little virus or something?) but my energy is back, the hunger is there but totally under control and I am so motivated and almost scared to deviate for fear of losing my energy and drive. I am on a roll.
Seeing things are feeling better, I will wait until 65kg to order my ReFeed. This is only 1.95kg away!! (Goal weight: 60 - 63)

L-Jay, thanks! And yes, you nailed it with "full of themselves" and lacking "empathy and compassion". Not all of them, there are just a select few who seem to be getting away with it by sitting confidently under the neon of "straight shooter"...which I don't think wins either them or anyone else any points.

whoops, I said rant over.

Hey choclover, thanks for visiting my diary! Nice to meet you. Thanks for sharing your experiences. 4 miscarriages! ((((hugging you)))) That is so rough to go through. I was really pissed off after the second one, I figured one was a part of what most women go through with the stats being 1 in 4, but 2 was like"hey, I've already been there ok!!!!" and I had to start wondering what was going on. Yes, I am confident there is a bambini out there not too far away for us, gotta say though, part of me is keen to stay slim for a bit first! It will be a challenge as big as this one to keep a good weight while "baking". Want to talk to the clinic more about this.
Congratulations on your tribe of 4!

Yesterday I drank nearly a whole liter before breakfast which felt great, today I it is already midday and I am still downing my first liter. Damn! Chug, chug, chug....

Ohhh, made the bolognese last night, with venison mince... so good I went back and made 2 more serves for later on this week!
(didn't have the straw mushrooms, so just put swiss browns through the mix)

Hiya Shine:)

Glad to hear you feeling better....and only 1.95kg till refeed that must be a wonderfull feeling!

By the way do you mind posting your bolgnese recipe...I tried to make a sheperds pie bit it turned out dry and not very appetising but I had to eat it...added a dash of nandos sauce to pick it up.

Have a good night now - Sam:)

It's the bolognese recipe with the straw mushrooms in the Cohen's Recipe Book.
I used minced venison instead of beef, skipped the curry and only had swiss browns instead of straw.

I let it simmer for a while slowly adding a little water over about 10 minutes.

Makes a delish gravy!

Here Sam, sorry didn't think! Straight from the book:

Straw Mushroom Spaghetti Bolognese

Fresh straw mushrooms are a delicious alternative to pasta because they have a spaghetti like consistency.

Beef, minced (allowance)
1/2 Tomato, finely chopped (allowance)
Zucchini, finely chopped (allowance)
Green capsicum, chopped (allowance)
1 tbsp Onioin, finely chopped (allowance)
1 Clove garlic, finely chopped (allowance)
Fresh herbs, basil and parsley (allowance)
Dried herbs, basil, oregano, chili
Balsamic vinegar
Salt and pepper
Handful of straw mushrooms, kept whole (allowance)

1 spray a small saucepan with oil.
Over medium heat, cook onions, garlic and meat until meat turns brown.
Stir regularly to separate the meat grains.
2 Add tomato, zucchini and all the ingredients except the straw mushrooms
3 add enough water to make a nice sauce consistency and cook for 15 minutes stirring occasionally.
4 meanwhile, bring a small pot of water to the boil and blanch straw mushrooms for a minute or so until soft - no not overcook as these are very delicate.
5 when mushrooms are soft, drain and put on a plate.
6 sprinkle with black pepper and salt to taste.
7 spoon over the meat sauce and enjoy immediately.

Shine's Varietion:

I used venison mince instead of beef.
I couldn't find any straw mushrooms so just included normal button mushrooms at the end of cooking the sauce. Skipped the chili and the vinegar. I added the water gradually to build up a nice gravy in the mix.

Soooo good I am about to use up the rest of the venison with 4 more batches.

Yesterday hubby and I took our boy bowling for the first time. I had no idea how it worked, but the side guards come up for his turn and he gets a slide to launch the ball down the ally. Sacha won!!! Beat hubby by 4 points!!! Howzatt!!

I had a lovely morning this morning trying all my old dresses on.
NOTHING is too small.

I have a black tie dinner and a cocktail party one night after the other in a few weeks and wow, it feels so great to go to the cupboard rather than have to go shopping.... well, in fact I must get a strapless push up bra, if they exist, but that is a small order compared to looking for a whole outfit.

Also, my wedding shoes are wedged platform (so as to get somewhere near to my husband who is 6'6") and I walked around in them this morning for an hour or two, almost forgot I was wearing them! Being over 10kg lighter does have many many advantages!!

I am officially smaller than my wedding weight by 4.5kg.

I am not feeling hungry, but frustrated with what the diet offers a tad. I am busting to mix my proteins and have an egg in my tuna salad, or a cheese and egg omlette... wow, what a craving... I used to be a chocolate girl. hehehe

The end is so close now. I will be ordering my refeed in 1.5kgs.

I am actually really happy at 66.5kg (with some fitness added in to the mix) and I can imagine that maybe 65 will be my top limit, rather than the Cohens rec of 60 - 63.

Any thoughts on this?

60 just seems a little too skinny for me.

Hi Shine

Your body will actually settle at your ideal weight....I know for my height 63kg is very skinny on me (but I do like it:) and that also gets me into a size 10.

But realistically 65kg is what I should be at and I think if I can reach that goal and maintain it for awhile then I might look at losing alittle more later. I think the important thing is learning to maintain which for me and I know others is the hardest thing.

It sounds like you had a great weekend with the family Shine...your son must have had a huge smile after beating his Dad at bowling.

And what a great feeling for you to be trying on your smaller clothes and fitting into them. I can not wait till I am at that stage.

Enjoy the rest of your day and week Shine - Sam:)

Hi Shine, It's best to get to goal weight then give it a while & decide later. You may decide, like I did to settle up a bit. I don't like being skinny but I love being slim. You are doing so well. Congratulations! xo Cate

Hi Shine, you must be feeling awesome. Re goal weights, mine was set at around 64 -68 by Cohens. The lowest I've been was 62, but this time, I'm trying for 58, because even at 62 (when I was married) I felt I could have dropped a little more. But I will adjust that as I get there if need be. Everyones loses more in different places. So it's easier to tell when you get there. x

Remembering of course that we are all capable of dropping more weight but whether we should is another matter. Healthy BMI, slim & not underweight is the aim. Stress the word healthy. Most of us have had eating disorders of one kind or another & of different degrees. We don't want to replace one eating disorder with another. You'll have a better idea Shine of what is healthy for you when you get to the Cohen's GW, also keeping in mind that you do shrink a little more after finishing, xo Cate

Thanks Sam! OK, will stayed tuned for my bod to tell me that I am there. After having a really hungry week or two a week or so ago, but feeling much better now, I am back on track mentally which is more relaxing.

Thanks for your encouragement Cate, it's gold.

Thanks L-Jay. I must say, am curious to know what 60 - 63 looks and feels like on this post baby body. (I know it won't look the same as it did in my early twenties!)

OK, need to check out this BMI thing. Haven't gone there yet!

Cheers everyone.

I tried the cheesecake last night. Instead of coffee I used mango. Yummo.
Mixed lettice, tomato, mushrooms, fresh parsley and balsamic salad to start.
Mixed lettice makes a salad look huge doesn't it!

Stay cool everyone. :)

Hi Shine, no your body wont look exactly like it did in your early 20's, but you may be pleasantly surprised that things firm up a lot more than what you'd think. I find that mine comes up looking pretty amazingly toned, with very little effort.

I like this "very little effort" thing.

I guess with minimal fat covering my limbs, any muscle work will show up more easily!

With a little spare energy at the end of the day, hubby and I have started, dut duddle-ut, duddle ahhh "PROJECT SUMMER ARMS".

I have my 2.5kg weights in a lovely deep purple. He has his 5kg in a manly black.

We watch our tv shows in the evening (I am usually surfing the net as not into so much tv) and during the ads we rep!

I haven't had much luck with soup on Cohens, always a little miffed at the end result. Well, SUCCESS!!

I based this on my pre-cohens chicken stock, the only difference is that I once used La Ionica Roast Chook carcass and added some soy sauce... this time of course there were some few minor changes...

Precooked chicken (and then pulled it apart), garlic and diced onion in the saucepan with a little oil.

Added diced celery and capsicum.

1/4 teaspoon curry powder, salt and pepper.
A splash of balsamic.

Boiled the kettle and added the hot water slowly while stirring the mix.

Added fresh sage, thyme and parsley. (I chopped the parsley but pulled out the thyme stalks and sage leaves afterwards, not sure how to weigh for this, just did without eating the sage leaves this time)

Simmered for about 15 minutes with the lid on, then let it sit for awhile too, probably another 10 minutes. I added some mushrooms and baby spinach leaves in at the end.

SUCCESS! and YUM! (even on a 30+ degree day).

Soooo, this morning I dry-weighed myself and I am glad that I did.

After a small plateau from Tuesday a week ago to this past Tuesday, I have lost 0.9kg which has put me 0.25kg above ordering my refeed!

I am feeling good with my energy and hunger. I could do with some earlier nights to bed. I really want to get some energy out with a walk or a little swim or gym visit.... ohh, and I am quite desiring a lovely crispy cold glass of Sauv Blanc in this warm weather..... ahem, sorry, how did that happen!!

I tried a little yoghurt experiment this morning. I took out 20g of yoghurt and added in some sweetener and some instant coffee. Smelled good, I just don't think I am a fan of Stevia. My ultimate goal was to slowly add in the smallest amount of boiled water at a time to end up with the perfect Cafe Latte.

Dream On Shine.

Oh well.

Also, I bought a peach, in the hope it would explode into juicy flavour in my mouth once I first bit... *sigh* ~ dry. Not having much luck with the variety I am choosing to add!!

Actually, not true! I bought 4 cooked prawns yesterday (if you haven't yet, a whole prawn will lose about half it's weight once beheaded and pealed) and tried the prawn curry. It was delicious.

Hi Shine

Like reading about your recipe experiments....i think I need to be abit more adventerous with my meals but I stick with my stables which are yum anyway and convenient and quick.

Ohh can't wait till you get your refeed.....

Have a wonderful day now.

Sam:)

Hi All,

Refeed Ordered!
I emailed the clinic yesterday, told them my latest weigh in, wanted to be sure I got in before the clinic closes for Christmas.
I have my 2 month appointment on Monday night!
They are fully booked so don't have enough time to run through it with me but want me to get there early to read through it.

Yesterday: survived another social event. No probs. Even stayed a few extra hours which pushed dinner to the 7 hours since lunch mark by the time I got home. It was a 5th Bday party complete with my most favourite cream cheese and tuna dip (home made by the host, a beautiful friend of mine), bbq sausages in bread and a chocolate fountain with sweets and fruits on sticks to dip under the flowing chocolate.

Ya know what? I put myself off the food.... well, most of it.
I saw them add about 4 tablespoons of oil to the fountain chocolate to keep it flowing. Almost retched and couldn't hide the horror on my face!!!
The sausages in bread smelled amazing, but after about 10 minutes they were all dried and chewy looking and I didn't feel like one any more.
It was just the tuna dip that really got me.
Wow, notice that I didn't have an issue with the lovely wine and champagne!

Feeling really good and loved up on complements.
Hubby is a bit backwards and tells me what bad bits have gone rather what good bits are showing! But girlfriends are raving and I feel like the hard work is paying off!

OK, also feeling a little worried about keeping this weight off too, but I think that is a bit of fear of the unknown and am really keen to read my refeed and maintenance.

No new recipe experiments yesterday, but I am thinking about them!

Yoghurt and 100g of mango, sprinkle of powdered ginger.
Snacked on a ryvita.
Fish stirfry with bokchoy, 1/4 tomato, onion and mushroom. Seasoned with garlic, salt and pepper.
Snacked on a kiwi fruit.
Dinner, defrosted one of my bolognese portions and ate with another ryvita.
Had a glass of pepsi max in a champagne glass to celebrate the birth of my neice Olivia by C-Section yesterday, I get to hold a fresh baby tomorrow!

Realised I missed 50g of my mango allowance and missed 1 crispbread serving. Glad they are optional!
