*Serious* Running Music Thread

I want to start a serious discussion on good running music (as the other looked like a Spam advertisement).

So, what do you think is good to listen to? I know that if you have some good music playing while you run, you can run harder and longer that if you didn't...at least that's what happens to me.

I have a 30gb iPod Video, so running with it is kinda hard.

Anyways, what would you say is the best music for running?

Myself, probably hard techno that you would dance to.

Kind of funny you brough this up... because in one of our college classes we kinda 'studied' this to see if running to certain beat music helps your running... What you might want to do and is kind of fun is find a beat that is close to your "jogging" pace or a little bit above your jogging pace, and focus on steppign to the beat of the music.. some people like it, some people hated it...

See when I run, I like a little more layed back music... so called "cruising" music :D So it's all what YOU like to do, so just try a couple things... as well as for your ipod, just invest in the arm strap... I did that, and at first I can't believe I spent that much on it, but in the end I'm glad I did...

Personally, I can't listen to music when I run. I get distracted by the songs and then suddenly find out I'm barely moving... that's trouble. But a lot of my friends listen to music and stuff, so more power to ya :)

yeah same ere i cant stand music wen i run 2 much distraction... but ive heard good music is with a beat close to ya pace!!

by the way, the other "spam advertisement" thread, the violator was banned and he won't be posting his lyrics on here any more, just fyi :)

I have an older model 20GB iPod that I run with all of the time. I run on a treadmill and just set the iPod on the display part of the treadmill; haven't had any problems with that. I do suppose that it would be difficult to run outdoors or on a track with it though.
I made a playlist of about 100 or so songs that get me pumped (Eminem, Tupac, Guns n' Roses, and a bunch of other random stuff) and just set it to play randomly.

I like random essential mixes. But really, any form of electronic music makes the ideal running partner. Im almost to the point where I cant run without it. I cant stand to listen to myself breath for 30-40 minutes.

I should mention, hard house/uk hardhouse/trance is very very close to the pace that I run at, and I assume it would be the same with almost anyone.

Though, I rarely listen to those when I run. I just play house with a nice funky beat that I would dance to, that keeps my mind elsewhere and keeps me in motion.

with music i dont focus on my running at all. and its great, i wonder off into my own mind thinking about all sorts of stuff, and i dont notice getting tiered. then i stop, get back to the real world, and im almost dead tiered :p

Haha, I dont know, call me weird, but I would feel strange running with "eye of a tiger" playing... I almost think Id have to stop and have a laugh. But hey, if it works for you, go for it.

I will call you wierd! Listen to the lyrics they really get you ampd up. Hav'nt you seen Rocky!!!!!!!! If it gets him ampd up it gets anyone ampd up! :p

I think "Eye of the tiger" is a great running song! To borrow another song from the Rocky films, I'm also a fan of "Burning Heart" from Rocky IV.

I listen to massive attack, linkin' park and stuff like that when I run. Works great for me
