running before or after a workout?

I like to run before a workout because I use this as my "warm-up". I usually run between 6-9 miles before lifting weights. However, I am an ultra runner so this mileage is "easy" for me. Bottom line is that you should not stretch or stress muscles that are not warmed up and loosened.

If you are a beginner then you would not run before or after workout. It would make you tired within couple of days.

Just start it before workout. Make such a routine for yourself which you can maintain with ease. Do not put any extra pressure on yourself. It would bring negative result. Just continue your current routine for couple of month.

After couple of month if you think that you are fit enough to do more exercise after workout then it is really appreciable since this practice would make you more active throughout the day.

If you are trying to get cut you need to do your main cardio after the lifting portion of your workout. You want your muscles fresher for the lifting so you can get more our of that work out.

It also may make sense to break up your work out and do the cardio at a different time of the day than your lifting.
