Rob's Journal

Hey B, I fell off the wagon for a bit, between my business trip and the untimely/sudden death of my mother, picking up and going to NJ for a while to sraighten everything out, I finally got back into the rythum of things three days ago.

I have 9 weeks until summer vacation, so time to bust my butt. A bit sore today, which is a good thing.

Soon I will be back!!!! Photo up in 4 week! WAHOO!

did HIIT training with the wife yesterday, she is my pet project, I am training to get her into radical shape before vacation in July. While she is already hot, we will make her eceptionally hot. :) So bustig my butt and hers will be the course for the next few weeks.

not much to report, doing better with the diet, which is good, and sticking to the NROL routine as well as HIIT on Tues and Thurs. My wife joins me those days, While I am doing the NROl she is doing a combo of Turbo jam and YogaBootyBallet....the weight is melting off of her which is great, I look very thin for my liking, but I guess it's part of the game we play.

switching gears and trying a new type of diet, the "healthy living diet' my problem is my portions are to large, I need to cut them down a bit.

Start a new routine on monday

portion control is hard for me to. I will be watching, and i just turned around and told my wife about you two. Cool that you have your wife in this with you. Travel is tuff, and i do alot of it too. I find running is the best travel fitness partner.

oh yeah, Monday is a holiday- HA!
FF

yea monday was a holiday, But I had to work....So I started the New routine, basically it is NROL Hypertrophy I.

5 reps at 5 sets for Workout 1....KICKED my butt, sore today :)

We also switched from Running to swimming, Running was taking a toll on our legs so we will adjust to swimming and running to lighten the load on the legs.

We both swam 30 laps in our 36 foot pool. Our goal is to add on 10 laps per week, to get to a 150 laps slightly more then a mile for the end of summer. While I am a excellent swimmer (lifeguard for years) my wife is not, a head out of water swimmer. So it is tougher for her then me, my problem is the pool is to small for me to get into "stride". But anyway this allows the kids to play in the pool while we swim. :)

Diet is in full gear.

Dude-- glad I stumbled across your journal. Of course then I had to read the whole thing, but it's cool you have your wife doing this with you. Our stories sound similar in many ways except my wife tends to eat far healthier than myself (you've actually posted to her a coulple times on an outdoor allergy thread-- Beemss).

Anyway-- I'll have to start following your progress. We've got a couple kids (4 and 6) so I know it's rough to try and balance it all out.

Keep it up dude!

Thanks bro,

Keep on reading....

Yesterday my wife did the "turbo jam cardio party" I swam 50 laps, because I love to swim, but I am sore as hell from my lifting and swimming. How can you be sore from swimming?? well swimming 50 laps and it being the third time this summer, well it is working muscles that were not being used.

But today I will be doing the lower body Routine for Hyper I My wife is going to try and swim 40 laps tionight :)

Yea she is trying to get into Bikini shape before our vacation in 6 weeks. I think swimming will be the best way for her as well as the Turbo jam and other workouts.

I am definately showing progress since changing it up. plus sticking to my diet.

breakfast...

Whole wheat english muffin with PB, 2 coffee's with Skim milk and S&L
Snack...A banana
Lunch....Healthy Choice meal, 200 Cal.

Taking Cretine and Daily vitamins. Drinking water all day long with all meals Normally drink Green tea, but ran out of tea bags, need to buy some new ones when I go shopping.

5'8" Maintaining 162LBS Body fat ??? need to measure it.

Well it has been a while since I placed a journal entry, but I ahve been maintaining my work outs. If you checked I posted some pics of me in the gallery for your viewing pleasure, or Displeasure, lol.

Anyway, If you notice the change of my body, you will notice my body weight ahs not drastically changed from when I first started over a year ago. Just my Body has "changed" from more fat to more muscle mass.

While my goal is to ahve the same body as the man on the cover of the New Rules of Lifting. I still struggle with my diet, While my diet is not horible, it is better then most, I am not disciplined enought to get to that 10% body fat goal.

Anyway, I will still move forward and get closer to my goal. I am happy with what I have obtained so far, but still not satisfied, which to me is a good thing.

Well we have been on vacation for the last couple of weeks so took a 3 week break from working out and exercise.

Now We decided to bring it up a notch.

On sunday we will be taking Measurements and Pics of both of us and starting a new and imporoved "diet" (eating better) as well as work outs to improve our goals.

I am trying to bulk up, she is trying to slim down and lose that evil layer over the belly.

the diet is the Key as always, but getting back into a routine as school starts for the children and back into our "work" lives is always tough.

Hopefully this goes well.

Well just wanted to post an update,

On week four of hypertrophy II

I feel good, feeling the results of my work outs and I am enjoying it having fun.

Again diet isn't perfect, but alot better, and I am trying to bulk up as oppsed to cutting, so I amtrying to eat more, but I just don't eat that much to begin with. Staying away from Cardio, just 3 days a week.

My wife has also been working out 5 days a week doing cardio 3 and weights 2, this is the longest she has worked out ever, 4 weeks now and I am proud of her. She is slimming down that is for sure. I am sure she will be happy with the results when week 8 is complete and it's time to measure.

Ok on week 5 here, rocking and rolling. My wife is on week 5 as well but she is doing Turbo jam.

Tonight I start coaching my kids soccer teams, I am coaching 9 year old girls and 5 year co-ed teams. Been staying away from Cardio, but this will count towards it, because I just can't help not running around with the kids.

I love it.

should be a fun season

OK I ahd to take "week 6" off due to circumstances, So we are here at week 7 and back to the routine, I just view week 6 as a "rest week"

So back to the groove...

Now my biggest issue is my diet, I am such a damn picky eater, but trying to alter my diet to fit my needs.

Yesterday bought some fruit, Red and green grapes, watermelon, pineapple, blackberries, strawberries and Melon. I made two big tupper ware containers of chopped up fruit for "snacks" or when I want something sweet.

We had a girlscout meeting at ur house lst night....1 container disappeared, my daughter and friends ate it on me :( which is really ok, better then eating junk for the kids. So I got my 1 container of sweets.

I bought some Chicken, steak and pork chops (lean) to cook up for meals and of course my veggies which I love.

Just have to stop witht he junk and eat the good stuff.

Have two soccer sessions tonight the 5 year olds and the 10 year olds, The 5 year olds work me out more becuase I ahve to show them the basics and how to ahve fun with the game, so we play alot of games geared towards them. Which is fun ! The ten year olds, well they are ten and have that back talk, so while mentally they are more work, physically they are not.

My body is definatly comming along with the work outs. By next summer I should be stellar.

My wife is doing a good job too, she is definately showing improvement.
