Rob's Journal

been a few days from the last post, I been doing my workouts, Saturday I did my spinning cardio, took sunday off But yesterday I was off from work, and instead of driving here to do my strength I worked out with my wife doing the turbo jam strength DVD, while it wasn't ideal for me, it gave me a different workout and my wife enjoyed the fact that I tried it out with her.

Today I will coach my son's soccer team, and then do my cardio tonight.

Still eating good, but I treated myself to a small ice cream sundae on Sunday :) with the kids.

Otherwise I am proud with my diet and plan so far.

Sowly but surely I will get to my Six pack abs!

Today, Wed.

My wife woke up early and did her turbo Jam, not sure what she had for breakfast, I slept in.

Today I will be doing strength training at 4pm and for breakfast I had some oatmeal, and will ahve a orange for a snack. Chicken breast with romaine lettuce and cheese for Lunch with oil and vinegar.

All is going well, I am definately seeing change in my midsection, my legs are tight, I look thinner but I am sure my muscle gain will catch up to my cardio burning. Hoping to increase my workiout routine 5LBS around the horn from last week.

:D

Looks like you're doing good. I'd recommend looking into buying a high-quality green tea extract like Nature's Way instead of drinking so much tea, though.

why is that if I may ask? I enjoy my 1 liter of Green tea. I drink a ton of water so I don't see it as an issue. But curious to know why you say that?

thanks

well did my strength last night...wahoo.

had turkey burger on whole wheat bun.

this morning had to get up early to do my Cardio/spinning....had a egg on wheat toast for breakfast and had a glass of OJ.

Then had a coffee with skim milk and Equal when I got to work, and I just had a banana.

feeling good, noticing changes in the midsection area.

I just know I have to keep pushing towards the goal.

First, I just want to say that it reads like you're doing great, so don't take me too seriously, I'm just nitpicking. Keep up the good work. :D

Green Tea, or any kind of Tea really, contains a fair amount of caffeine. Around 60% of what an equivalent amount of drip coffee does on average. A liter a day of Green Tea borders on the amount that studies show can become addictive. Also, taking Caffeine too frequently can minimize its positive effects and exacerbate its negative impact. Please don't hate on me, coffee drinkers..I'm not judging you. It's just that from the what I've read I believe the ideal caffeine intake to be <=200 mg 2 or 3 times a week. Taking caffeine an hour before a weight training session can increase your energy for training by 8-12%! Avoiding it the rest of the time allows you to reap the health benefits without suffering the side effects and decreasing its effectiveness. Caffeine is also a diuretic, something I assume you're aware of from what you said in your reply. :)

I'm not saying that you should stop drinking Green Tea. Just sharing my perspective. "Ideally," I believe you should try to get your Green Tea in the form of an extract high in the polyphenols that make it so good for you, and lower in the caffeine and "warm beverage" dependency. If you'd like references for the statements I've made above so you can check them out and come to your own conclusion, just toss me a pm and I'll track them down.

no hating here, and thanks for the props....

first of all the green tea I drink is Decaf :) (bought decaf by accident)

Secondly I drink it cold, I put the tea bags in a liter bottle and let it sit overnight in the fridge and drink it cold at work.

But I appreciate the Information.

Don't worry all, I am still here and still working out, just been ultra busy at work these days and that is usually where I post from.

Anyway, still working hard and eating right, EXCEPT on Friday was my Daughters birthday, and Saturday was my birthday, so I did not eat great over the weekend, but it's justified.

Listening to Tony's advice with the new routine as well as reading the book he promoted ;)

My only question is, will I see a quicker "weight loss", as compared to noticable Muscle gain in my body??

Looks like I am shedding the pounds, nicely, BUT my chest is not developing to my expectations, maybe I am expecting to much to fast.

After my work out I do drink a glass of skim milk with whey protein and take (damn can't think of the name) but recommended on this board, I will post it next time.

But I basically do 10 reps 3 times each exercise. Should I try and max out my bench press once a week?

any help is appreciated. :)

OK decided to cut down on the cardio, until April. I am going to focus on gaining muscle mass.

added new exercises to my routine, eating right most of the tie, keeping up the routine for now.

Did 6 "wide gripe" pull ups for the hell of it, which is great for me and the shape I am/was in.

keep moving forward.

Next week I will start the New Rules Of lifting program.

day 1
Squat 2x15
static lunge (each leg) 2x15
two pnt dumbbell row w/ elbow out 2x15 (each arm)
push up 2x15
swiss ball crunch 2x15

day 2

deadlift 2x15
step-up 2x15
dumbbell 1-arm shoulder press (each arm) 2x15
close-grip lat pulldown 2x15
reverse crunch 2x15

well took a few days off, Tomorrow I will start the Beginner program for The New Rules of lifting, since I consider myself a beginner, I will do the 4 week break in routine.

It will be weird not starting off with a bench press....something new and I am excited.

Eating right still, notice I lost quite a bit on my stomach ever since I stopped drinking every weekend and I cut out my 3-4 cups of coffee with syugar and cream, I switched to 2 cups of coffee with skim milk and sweet&Low or Equal, while I hate the tase i am getting used to it. I did drink for the super bowl, but just three beers. :D

my wife is off the wagon due to the puppies death and getting a nasty stomach virus, hopefully she can start again tomorrow.

I can't wait until I get my bonus on March 5th so I can finish my basement, once that is done I will ahve a new weight room.

Ok started my NROL workout yesterday, the beginner phase.

Squat 2 x15 110lbs

Superset:
Static lunge 2x15 35lbs
two point dumbbell row with elbow out 2x15 20lbs

superset:
push up 2x15
swiss ball crunch 2x15

well, I am in week 3 of the Beginner session, Doing two days a week and it is killing me, I feel like I am not doing enough but I do show a difference. Which is interesting.

I can hardly wait to get to the new routine. in 2 weeks.

Hey Tony, I went with the "eternal beginner" because I really did not fit any other category, so the eternal beginner does the "break in" for FOUR weeks, twice a week. then a week off, then Fat Loss 1.

While I feel like I should be doing three weeks, I want to try his method, I am feeling the change, but I was probably doing over kill before starting this program.

Reading over the weight loss 1 program, that will probably be tough, but fun! Looking forward to it

well I finished my "break in period of four weeks", I feel good, except my tooth...lol

but this week comming up is my rest week.

Then I will start the "Fat loss 1" routine.

My diet is still crap, but better then I was. I am very proud of my wife she has been working out 5 days a week with Turbo jam and showing good results, but she has more to do then I do in the stomach area.

Our diet will be the hardest part, we are lazy when it comes to preparing good meals.......gotta work on that.

ok Started the Weightloss program 1 yesterday....

Feels good, sore today :)

still not eating up to par, but plan to change that this week, last week we had girl scout cookie delivery....put me in the tank :(

But coaching my daughters soccer team so I am kind of doing Cardio on Tues and Thurs, But doing the strength program M, W, F alternating workouts.

did my workout yesterday it kicked my butt, especially since I was on the sick side of things.

but it felt good beating it. Sore today, but feeling good.......eating better

just finished week 2 of weight loss 1 program, looking forward to monday. My diet still blows, but hitting the grocery store today after work. I printed out a bunch of healthy recipes and My wife and I are going to tackle this together. at the end of week 3 I may take some pics, I may not depends on my mood :)

I need to hire a persnal chef to make my meals so I can eat right.....now if I only had some money to do that.

was away in Raleigh, NC the gym at the hotel sucked so I took a week off and ate poorly, going to hop back on the wagon today, just got to eat better. :(
