Sport Raw eggs anyone?

Sport Fitness
At the moment I'm drinking 2 raw eggs per day, because, to put it frankly I can't be bothered to cook, nor do I have the time. Is this healthy or at all suggestible?
Btw, the carton the eggs come in certifies that the eggs are 100% free from salmonella, so if I do somehow get it the lawsuit will cheer me up :D

Yeah 100% Salmonella free...if you cook them :)

Gaston from Beauty and the Beast ate two dozen eggs a day (three when he was grown) and he was absolutely massive. He also had very shiny hair. So..go for it. :D

It takes all of 2 minutes to cook eggs (preferably whites) on a non-stick pan. This includes cleanup time. Come onnn. :p

Or you could boil them in advance. Every time I see someone make excuses or make a bad nutrition decision because of "time" or "options" I cringe. It takes 30 mins a day to prepare 6 healthy meals to take with you wherever you go. I know because I do it. It actually saves you a great deal of time in the long run and makes it much easier to stick to your meal plan.

crack them in a bowl, mix for 10 seconds, place in microwave for 1:30 and you have scrambled eggs.

so, is drinking raw eggs bad for you? Aside from how many people thinks its just gorss?

As long as it says its pasturized then you can drink it but I'd suggest cooking it to be on the safe side. Takes all of 2-3 minutes as [focus] said above.

I drink 4-6 in the morning, and whenever I don't feel like eating but need protein throughout the day. It tastes like salty water...

alright i found the reason NOT to eat raw eggs.

Aviden a protein and Carb molecule in the egg white, Binds with Biotin in the stomach and decreases absorption of This vitamin, thus can lead to a biotin deficiency.

Cooking destroys the Aviden, "thats a good thing"

biotin deficiency has many symptom's no one wants.

As the bioavailabilty of the protein in eggs increases when cooked, I am going to keep on cooking mine and getting the best value for money out of them

I can barely stomach eggs when they're cooked. If swallowing something that has the taste and texture of mucus appeals to you and doesn't make you sick, go for it. *shrug*

Apparently Mreik does it, and he's superman. Of course, a lot of things superman does would result in a grisly death for most people...:D

Not a very smart thing to drink 'em raw, not cooking them means your wasting 50% of the protein.

And where are you getting these amazing factoids from? Hmm, I wonder how they list the ingredients and macro breakdown on the label, maybe after cooked? Nope, so unless you're creating protein by some magical way, n/m.

Cooking the eggs denatures the protein, and this is the reason you should or shouldn't eat raw eggs. Because cooked, they're a great source of certain vitamins (everything but C). But cooking them will lead to the denaturation of the protein, some rendered useless. Although not cooking them, raw, will allow a molecule called avidin (sp?) to remain which can cause a certain vitamin B6 deficiency. So although you're right that raw eggs have a down side, you're wrong about the reason.

Oh, and as to bioavailibilty. I'm not sure where you got those numbers from but I'll pretend they're right: If you have a raw egg and it's 6g of protein, you eat it. According to you you'll get 3g of protein (50%); but if you cook it you'd get 100%, but at the same time if you cook it you render useless probably upwards of 50% of the protein..

whoa tiger! feeling aggressive today?
My facts? well My facts come from sciencentific research such as

yours?

Nope, but I hate illstated comments. I stopped reading the first one after "4 female, 1 male; aged between 28 and 76 y" give me something more applicable than a 74yr old woman. And your second article poses the idea that 30% is more available than in raw, not 50%, and neglects to address the denaturing of the proteins, also both articles assume that protein must be utilized by the colon to be effective?

My information is from text books, that's all I have time to read lately.

That doesn't make sense. An egg can't increase its protein levels by 50%, that's impossible. Downing raw eggs isn't hard at all, and as for getting ill because of it, well if a company states that their eggs have no salmonella and then they do, then there is somebody to sue xD.
