Hi, everyone! So I've been on my weight loss journey for a couple years now but have never really had a chance or even thought of starting up a diary to help me keep on track and get me to my goals with ease. About three years ago in highschool i weighed 131kg/288.8lb and have reduced it to 105kg/231.4lb. I'm currently 19 years old and wish to at least lose another 30kg the most healthy and safe way i can, and what better way to do it with a diary! So here's my current stats:

Age: 19
Height: 6 foot 3 inches
Current weight: 105kg/231lb
Goal weight: 85kg/187lb
Activity level: Low
Current weight loss method: Calorie restriction
Calorie limit: 1500 per day

Alright! With those out of the way, my current situation is that i'm a student in medical school and as you may know im always bombarded with exams and such so excercise is really a tough thing for me to do daily or even three times a week. Like even as i type this i should really be studying for my big exam i have in 29 days ^^'. The way i lost my weight before was mainly through calorie restriction and occasionaly the keto diet here and there for a month if i ever got off track. Im not really too keen on keto so i will not be doing that much at all.

So the game plan for me here is that everyday at night once im done eating for the day i put in a daily report of my progress and how i did that day. Also i will include any diffculties or troubles i had along the way. This will help me keep my discipline towards my diet knowing that i must now document it here.

With that all being said, I'm really excited to be starting this and my motivation is through the roof! I welcome and am open to any help or criticism that anyone here has to offer and hope we all reach our goals together ^^/. Feel free to tell me if i missed anything I should have posted here and I will be happy to add it in.

P.S sorry for any spelling mistakes or typos im not used to using a keyboard haha ^^'

you say you did some Keto dieting. do you understand how/ why this works? do you understand the part insulin plays in nutrition and digestion? do you understand the digestive effects of the different macronutrients? have you ever heard the axiom that calorie restrictive diets do not work in the long term?

Hi! Yup, I do understand pretty much all how keto dieting is supposed to work. Nutrition was a part of my biochemistry course in first year of med school and understand how keto is probably the most efficient way to lose weight as i have personally seen myself. Of course i even when i reach my goal weight i will have to change my game plan on how to maintain it or maybe even lose a little more if i have to and i understand that i cant do calorie restriction forever but also im not really all too fond of keto since i'd rather eat smaller portions of everything than plainly keto friendly foods. My current goal is to reach my target weight and then I'll work on how i can maintain it healthily ^^

Congratulations on an already amazing amount of weightloss!

Sounds sensible to me and I´m looking forward to seeing your progress.

Compared to how you ate before starting to lose weight you will be restricting calories for the rest of your life. Just not as extremely as you are now.The trick, I think, is finding ways to make your food satisfying some of the calories. Figuring out what´s important to you, what you want to have sometimes, and what you can do without forever. For now I´m sure you´re aware it´s important to keep the nutritional quality of the food you do eat as high as possible because another 30 kg will take you a little while and getting undernourished will not help you get through med school.

Best of luck!

Thanks ^^
And yes, you're totally right about being undernourished and all. Usually when I feel like im hungry its hard to focus on other things and derpriving myself of foods i like such as pasta and potatoes will just make me crave them more. Even if i get to eat a small portion size of them it satisfies me a lot more as long as theyre on a bed of vegetables or in a soup so i get that illusion of satiation. The only difficult part is keeping my daily intake between 1200 and 1500 but with a calorie tracker app its tons easier. I feel pretty positive about the situation currently and it really shows in my other aspects of life too ^~^

That´s great to hear! You are in the privileged position of knowing a lot more about the body than most folks and that´s a real benefit in this whole process.

Morning Weigh in: 105kg
Calories consume: 1157/1500

End of day one of my diary. Usually when i brush my teeth at night it stops me from eating further and thus ends the day for eating which is at 9:26pm today. Had a vegetable mish mash of 600 calories with around 150 calories of condiments (shocking how much they add) and to fill in the rest of the empty spaces i had simple bread and cheese. I guess waking up at 1pm kinda makes it easier ^^'
Looking forward to tomorrow and probably gonna spend an all nighter prepping for my coming test. Further diary entries will most likely be shorter but its a good start today.

Hi, QuokkA & welcome to the forum. Well done on losing 26 kilos. You do have a head start on nutrition & how to lose weight sensibly & healthily, which is what we encourage here. Starting a diary is a good way to discuss your highs & lows with people who don't know you, but have a lot in common. All the best with your test.

Morning Weigh in: 104.7kg
Calories consume: 1580/1500

Had a bunch of boiled vegetables again today since i did not really feel like eating meat today. Also had some cheese toast and light snacks to fill in the rest. Went over by around 80 calories but i guess thats fine since i left like 300 yesterday. It was an alright day today but i can work on cutting out some of the snacks next time.

Maybe a low-fat hummus to dip your veggies in next time? Or Greek yogurt with some fresh herbs chopped in.

Okay i know this may sound gross but usually to add taste to my vegetables i slather it all in a mixture of ketchup, chilli garlic sauce and this green chilli chutney i found. It really makes it like im no even eating vegetables haha but Greek yogurt and herbs sounds really good tbh especially with carrots and cucumbers

Sounds delicious! Garlic and chutneys go with everything and ketchup is basically a pureed chutney. May be quite high-sodium though...

Hey Q welcome! I have enjoyed reading through your diary. Congratulations on your weight loss to date, that is great!

I also like the sound of your vegetables. I often eat mine with lost of Tabasco or other hot sauce. I like the sound of garlic and chutney.

Best of luck to you!

Had 600 calories worth of popcorn today in place of dinner and it was soooooo good haha. Other than that just some chicken for lunch and an egg sandwich for breakfast

Yup sodium can be a problem sometimes and kinda disheartening the next morning when you weigh yourself in but as long as you stay well hydrated it cant be too bad.

As long as you know WHY the scale is being temperamental it´s not so bad :)

Had some the usual stir fry veggies but this time with some nice meatballs. Other than that i had 9 oranges to fill in the rest of the calorie requirement. Love me some Vit C ^^

There is more to it than taste. Capsaicin, the active ingredient in hot pepper is a good appetite suppressant and can help with weight loss (How Does Cayenne Pepper Help You Lose Weight? ). I find that after eating a well spiced meal I feel more full.

Yup you're absolutely right which is why i like adding tons of chopped up green chillis into anything i make. Its really good for your metabolism and is packed full of vitamin C. Also personally the hotness usually makes me chug large amounts of water during the meal so it helps a lot on filling me up.
