hi guys, im 17 yr old from Singapore. im chinese, and im 1.68 m and 75 kg. i know im short, lol. anyways, when im 19, after college, i would have to go for National service, a compulsory enlistment to serve the country, which is more or less becoming an operational-ready soldier.

im not fit, but i have been going to the gym for the past 1 half months. i do weights here and there, and run twice a week, about 2 km each time. but every week from mon-fri, i walk bout 2 km carrying my bag of bout 6 kg, cos i live rather far from the damn bus stop.

i eat quite alot, bout 4 normal meals a day. a light breakfast, a heavy recess, a heavy lunch, and a medium dinner. inbetween, ocassionally snacks if im free. i realized, if i i eat only 3 meals and no snacks, my weight does drop, but i hate feeling hungry.

my parents tell me to just exercise, and eat lesser, also try to eat more healthily. they say that if i go on a diet, i may stunt my growth, as im already quite short. boys do grow to bout 20 yrs old.. right? lol. some fit buddies tell me to cut down on carbo for dinner.

any tip guys, i hate being fat.

and yes, i do have a big tummy.

Welcome Singapore! Because you’re still growing, you’ll want to use body mass index (BMI) not weight as your guide for weight control. The American website has a BMI calculator for teens. You can check to see if Singapore’s public health service website has one.

For long-term weight control, it’s best to eat healthy and get plenty of exercise. You want to make sure to get your nutrients because you’re still growing. The here in the U.S. has an online calculator for you to determine how many calories you need to eat to maintain weight. If you need to lower your BMI, you’ll want to eat 500 calories less than the calculation. There are many entries on this forum for you to explore that discuss nutrition. Recording what you eat is a good way to see what and how much you are eating. Check out , a great website that allows you to record your food and exercise.

You’re walking and running, which is good. Make sure to get moderate intensity exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes on most days. (Brisk walking, running, etc.) Adding more weight training and toning exercises to your routine may help.

Best wishes on getting fit.
