protien shakes..are nasty

Instead of protien shakes lately I bought this special kellogs K packs that you add into a 20 oz bottle of water. It gives you 5 grams of protien. I usually drink 5-6 bottles of water a day, do you think I can quit drinking protien shakes..

Does it have any carbs or fat?

5grams of protein..is not enough..to even replace a protein shake.

...

here...
30 calories a serving (20 oz bottle of water)
total carbs = 6
protien = 5

and I said I have like 5-6 bottles of water a day. 25-30 grams of protien isnt enough? plus all the other stuff i eat

The point of a protein shake is to get a considerable amount of protein that can quickly be absorbed almost immediately after a training session. If you are drinking 5-6 small bottles with5grams of protein, ok, but it's not a protein shake anymore and couldn't be used as a PO shake effectively.

The typical specifications for a protein isolate are:

Protein 90%
Fat 0.5%
Lactose 0.5%

The typical specifications for a high quality protein concentrate are:

Protein 80-85%%
Fat 5-8%
Lactose 4-10%

What brand protein shake did you try that was 'nasty'?

cuz I've had some pretty effing gross protein, and I've had some that tasted like candy.
In particular, I like vanilla Nitrean because it tastes a lot like vanilla ice cream with a little butterscotch or carmel flavor. It also mixes really well and is a whey/casein blend.

Optimum Nutrition also makes quality whey, in some interesting flavors. i've heard cookies n' cream is good, and the chocolate mint (shudder). their chocolate's pretty good, but i would stay away from the rocky road...not from personal experience but others' comments.

My 'shake' is whey protein powder and water.

I've recently changed it up. Now I add 1 tsp of cocoa powder to go along with an ounce of whey protein powder (and maybe a dash of vanilla to the whole thing).

If you like stuff with all the sugars or artificial sweeteners, you probably won't like this. But I'm happy with keeping it just this simple.

Way to little bro !

Yah 5 grams of protein is way to little .. if you want to gain any weight or maximize your time at the gym by recruiting the muscle fibers that were torn .. you should require at least .7 - 1 gram per pound of body weight .. 5 grams is def . not enough .
Cheers !
Oh and by the way .. Muscle Milk is amazing , go for that .. you get plenty of protein with your essential fatty acids mixed with a bit of carbs for your muscle to synthesis . Oh and Taste great ! chocolate peanut butter or just straight chocolate is what i take .

My main protein is actually still ON's Tropical Punch. Its the only stuff that I can drink everyday and never get sick of it.

I used to use ON's for ages, but wanted to try something new and my trainer suggested the range cause of the 97% whey WPC/WPI formula and they also taste way better.

New scientific clinical data suggest that Nitro-Tech may increase protein synthesis, muscle size and strength more effectively than regular whey protein. Nitro-Tech is the world’s first nitrogen delivery technology that brings visible results fast.

Try it out you will be glad you did

I drink it as well and it's actually pretty tasty.

My protein powder is pretty tasty. I don't normally need it, so my wife and kids drink it more than I do. My kids call them "daddy milk shakes" LOL
