Sport Protein with milk or water?

Sport Fitness
I have some Wheybola Extreme 60 and was wondering if it would be better to take it with milk. I've always used water but i have heard good and bad things about taking milk with it. Any suggestions?

Whatever floats your boat. Do you digest milk well? If so, you're splitting hairs.

when milk is cheap and esp. if you're on a bulk, milk helps you get in the extra calories to add lean mass.

IMO a good shake should taste good in either.

I've upped my protein intake so I've added milk to one of my protien drinks. So I'm adding protien but have to keep a close eye one my total cals for the day.

Doesn't much matter, but if you're taking it PWO, then I'm all for milk. I think even milk by itself is awesome PWO, so I would say stick to that. If you're worried about calories and/or like the taste, water is fine.

Mixing protein powder with water is horrible! I hate milk too and so I have to mix it with grapefruit juice or make a smoothie out of it just to be able to tolorate the taste. When is the day coming when they can make a protein shake that really tastes like the lable says, "minty chocolate" or "tangy orange"? They all taste like chalk.

That's probably because you mix it with water and grapefruit juice.

Anyway, killerangel, how exactly can milk be bad when mixed with protein?

I have no idea. But the problem might be that i read it off of Yahoo Answers. They were talking about digesting problems and all kinds of things like that

I don't think so. It's because I'm used to real food and the taste of protein powder is gross. You are not actualy defending the taste are you?

Milk contains casein which is regarded as high quality protein, so it will only benefit if added. Regarding the digestive problems associated with milk, so it will only occur if someone is suffering from "Lactose Intolerance" which is much more common in asians. A person usually knows about his habit if his stomach gets upset with milk or not. If not, then milk is always good

Of protein powder? Absolutely! I love the way mine taste. I don't know what flavors or brands you got, but you're missing out :). Being used to real food has absolutely nothing to do with the taste of something else. There are real foods you don't like the taste of too I'm sure.

^^ Not sure about the Asians thing, but yeah. The only digestive problems you would have would be due to lactose intolerance, in which case you may want to switch to Whey Protein Isolate instead of Concentrate also. Anyway, milk is awesome if you don't have that problem. And it's about 80% casein and 20% whey to be exact.

Hey what protein are you using? I mean I had some that tasted alright but it was no UDF shake or anything

Man, I've tried tons of different protein shakes, and most of them tastes like total crap.
I mean, I had to pinch my nose, drink the stuff, then continue pinching my nose, and then drink some apple juice, to make sure that it wouldn't start tasting.
I've tried with both milk and water, water is totally freakin discusting, milk is the only way.
It also seems to taste better with low-fat milk compared to fat-free milk.
Right now I'm using gold standard by optimum nutrition, and it's the only protein powder I've ever tasted that tastes kind of like real chocolate milk. I'm actually kind of looking forward to drinking it, which is a good thing

I've tried a bunch. ON has a lot of great tasting ones, but I liked Cytosport Complete Whey's Vanilla and Chocolate Mint too. Right now I have Cinnamon Bun from Muscle Gauge and it also tastes very good in milk. Naturally, most of them are better in milk. If you're really worried about it tasting like a milkshake or anything like that, though, Chocolate flavors are probably your best bet.

yeah like i've tried a wheybola extreme 60 chocolate in water and it was pretty good. It was like a sample 1 serving thing i got at GNC. But i just got a 3lb thing of wheybola extreme 60 cookies n cream because it was like 30$. When normally they are like 50$. But there was strawberry, banna cream, and cookies n cream for a sale. So i just chose the flavor that I like best but it's not as good as the chocolate. Not even close. But ill have to try it with milk and see if it makes a difference. My family always buys skim milk. Will that make a difference or anything?

Any milk you like is fine. I love the taste of skim milk, so I was used to that. However, I'm getting used to 1% and 2% because I just had jaw surgery and I'm on an all liquid diet for 8 weeks. Point being - I think it's better in 1% or 2% because it's a little thicker, more filling, and you're getting close to that whole "milkshake" feel. Ultimately, just try them out and see what you like :)

PS: Stop going to GNC. That place is a total scam. Buy your products online, where you can get them from cheaper sources that don't try to drag you into buying a bunch of things you don't need.

I don't have a credit card... (Only 15) and my parents don't let me buy stuff online. And GNC is very convienient because its in a mall right behind my neighborhood so i only need to walk like 200 yards to get to it.

Yeah, you have to use what you got. I might start buying online but right now Bodyfortress at Wal-Mart tastes good and is cheap 12.95 for 2lbs
