try mixing it with a tablespoon of peanut butter and putting it on a rice cake. buddy told me about it and it sounds odd but i have choc flavor and its pretty amazing

{i usualy put the powder in a shaker with some suger (or Dextrose when I have it) and mix it with water after I lift. Theres now milk at the gym though and if there were thats what I would use. In theroy because Milk protein (whey protein is actualy milk protein) does absorb slower and the mix of the two keeps protein in your system a little longer.} SP? lol

The calcium in milk is not good - better to use a good, natural supplement. And I haven't heard about the fat thing - anybody else?

What is wrong with the calcium in milk?

I've heard about the calcium helping with bodyfat. My nutrition instructor sent out an email with a study or two about it a few years ago.

I take my PWO with milk. I've tried protein powder in water but I just can't get used to it. If you're really concerned about digestion I suppose the fat in milk could slow down the digestion a bit but if that's the case then use non-fat milk. I really don't think it makes enough of a difference to warrant the change to water though.

hi james.

iv been muscle building and crossfit training for three years now, and have carried out alot of university work in the subject.
all current evidence suggests the best time to take your shake is directly after your workout and an hour before you go to bed. that way you are gettin enough protein to heal straightaway and to carefully knit the muscle back together overnight.
i would recomend taking your shake with water, as it will get into the system alot faster because it isnt digested unlike milk which could take upto 3 hours once ingested to begin taking effect. also with milk, your taking on excess fat and calories which should be avoided after a workout.
if you hgave grown used to taking your shake with milk, a good technique to ween urself off it is too drink it with half milk half water, and gradually add more water and less milk untill u grow used to the taste.

good luck with the training (Y)

Does the shake directly after a workout and again before bed if:
A. I'm working out at 5 am?
B. I'm trying to lose fat?

I drink quite a lot of milk, semi skimmed mostly, and besides that, water.

I am no expert in nutrition and stuff, can anyone tell me if it is good or bad to have let's say, two big cups of milk a day? I'm English and grew up with milk and never stopped XD
