I'm not really sure about this. Milk might add more cals/fat to the shake, but water won't. Just my opinion on it.

I don't drink a protein shake. I do drink a fair amount of milk though. Between me and my two toddlers we go through a gallon in about 2 days.

I have a pretty good appetite, so I get over 300 grams of protein with no supplements

I can drink the hell out of some milk too. We go through two gallons a week between my wife and I, easy. We have a little boy abut to turn one who's going to be adding to our usage. I may want to have a tank installed, and have the milk dropped off in bulk instead of buying by the carton.

So if I do drink my share of milk, it'd be best to take the shake with water, huh?

Well, I use it with water after my workout. The milk takes a while to digest, and if your whey is absorbed in the milk really good, it'll take longer to absorb, or so I'm told.

The vanilla isn't bad with water, but the chocolate sucks if you're not taking it with milk.

But, I take it with milk in the morning and at night so it's slow absorbing throughout the day.

Oh, and BTW, I, by myself, probably drink close to 1/2 or 1 gallon of milk a day. It's hard for me to get my protein because my parents really control my nutrition budget, but they're anxious to buy more milk, so it's my best source of protein.

Water here, and it tastes just fine. You see, I got myself started on water, and grew to love that. So in the rare occasion that I have it with milk, its so creamy and tasty, a nice little treat as opposed to those who HAVE to drink it with milk. :D

I think it depends on your caloric needs. If your looking to gain weight and the extra calories from milk fit in calories for the day...then I think it would be fine to drink milk. I normally drink water though...because I don't want the extra calories. Although...I have heard that calcium can help you burn fat.

I usually alternate between the two. But strawberry protein shake + milk = mmmm soo good. Plus on some days I need the extra calories and theres some protein in the milk as well.

Water here and it tastes great I think. It's quite a treat ;-)

I prefer banana flavour but like both chocolate and strawberry too. Not tried vanilla yet but I will one day. I take mine with 1 Pint of water so I could not imagine having it with a whole pint of milk each time. Some days I may take two shakes for convenience more than anything and I wouldn't want to add 1-2 pints of milk PER DAY to my diet.
