Sport Post workout drink

Sport Fitness
I usually just have a regular protein shake with soya milk. I have also heard of chocolate milk and a few others. What do you guys recommend?

Forget drinks, get some food in you.

if you want a good protein drink that just compliments a meal, I suggest Isopure drinks. They are low in calories, fat and carbs so they can be drinken with a meal and they have 40 grams of whey protein isolate.

the isopures are a good idea and dont taste too bad

PB has too much fat. You want your PWO nutrition as FF as possible.

fat slows down the digestion and metabolism of the protien.

Postworkout is pretty important.

Don't listen to Nobody;) , yeah food is great obviously (as is milk), but a shake is much easier to do and digest in your body.

I would go with whey, dextrose, and whatever else you do...a few grams of creatine or what have you.

Right on, AJP!

or maltodextrin if you can find it. its slightly better than dextrose for PWO carbs, but not enough that you should go out of your way trying to find it.

I know NOW foods has a Carb powder that's pure maltodextrin.

scroll down and check out the ingredients on the sugar free metamucil

second ingredient is maltodextrin. with the unflavored, you could make a decent PWO drink with some whey. probably not as cheap as dextrose, but you have the added benefit of some fiber as well.

just a thought

You dont want fiber in your PWO drink. It will slow digestion and you need the protein/carbs to quickly replenish lost muscle glycogen to start the repair/rebuild process.

Malto is both the best and the cheapest source of carbs for your workout drink(tastes nothing either so dont have to taste the ubersweetness of dextrose). You can find it your local brewery shop.

any idea what the name of that maltodextrin powder is? NOW has like 200 products on bodybuilding.com

Surge seems like a fine product...but for the price of some ON whey, and a tub of dextrose or malto...you'd get way more for your money.

junkfood, I just found it, its called Carbo Gain 100% Complex Carbohydrate. pure maltodextrin from corn.

I think I did 1/3 cup which was 40g of carbs, for a PWO shake during bulking. be warned though...its wickedly sweet...almost gaggingly so to me, but I don't have a huge sweet tooth anymore.

If like me you enjoy a swim and jacuzzi after a workout then you'll know that by the time you've had a shower and got home you've been out of the gym for an hour or so.

Its important to get protien into you ASAP when you finish your workout. but there are not many options for gym locker food, I have a metrex bar (protein - 25g) before my swim and drink at least 2pints of water in the jacuzzi.

I think the whole high GI carbs post workout is a BAD idea for people trying to improve there bodycomposition. Its fine for performance minded trainees.

I just drink down 40g of protein these days.

newf - but what about ur carbs?
