Petals diary

I've never heard that one Cate, it's a nice one. I feel like Irish people can hold a grudge like no other. Usually over land. We had an absolutely shocking story about that during the week here. A father and son shot the other son because the mother was going to leave the farm to him and him alone. Terrible stuff.

Great work on cutting down on the screentime, I need to do that myself. I actually feel like I might need glasses again for the computer. Disaster.

Hi there, Petal. Just catching up a bit here - good for you, arranging to cut back on screentime. And you said your weight was down a bit, too - well done! :)
Also, feeling for you and the Irish population generally, with tough new restrictions. As far as I can tell (and we all know the epidemiologists and others will be analysing for years to come on this) such restrictions do work, at least as a way to stave off real crisis.

Thanks for the blessing Cate . Thanks LaMa . That was very sad Em and the father and son shots themselves too so 3 dead men. Bone chilling .

Amy how are you my friend . Lovely to see you .

No gain or loss this week but I am hovering on a drop . Next week hopefully. But on the plus I feel slimmer and fitter and healthier and happier .

Work still crap but hey ho

Yeah, it's a harrowing tale Petal, that's for sure.

Loving all your new ways of describing yourself! You've come a long way. :)

Thanks LaMa , Cate and Em . Between work and forum being down and being tired I haven't been posting too much.
Work is getting better in terms off I am clearing the back log and achieved a lot this last week. I have chatted with the boss and expressed my frustrations. I have had a better few days with them . No doubt about it the run up to xmas will be busy and I'm going to claim for extra time or take it off at xmas . It should be easier in the new year as we close down one area of the business .

Food going mostly ok . Although yesterday we had a lazy food day . Lunch I had a wholemeal wrap with chicken feta toasted almonds spinach toasted followed by a few squares of Seville orange dark choc . Dinner we all had take out . Was nearly as stressful as cooking as we couldn't decide . In the end I had from the Asian restaurant chicken with stir fry veg ( full of veg ) chilli and cashew nut and brown rice . And Asian greens . Only had a spoon of the rice and half the main course so lunch sorted for today if I want it although I suspect kids have eye on it too lol. Husband had roast duck with lots of veg and no sauce . Kids had pizzas . We timed the collections exactly right so no waiting about.

This weekend some cleaning walking and relaxing .
Have a good one all x

Enjoy that weekend, Petal & good for you having that chat with the boss. Make sure you do get a break at Xmas.

That's great Petal that things should calm down in the New Year.

Your wrap sounds lovely - I've never thought about toasted almonds in a wrap before. Fantastic.

Have a lovely Saturday. x

Thanks LaMa, Cate and Em . Yes Em the almonds were nice in it .

I had the remainder of the chicken takeout but again just a spoon of brown rice. Dinner last night was a steak, garden peas and some home-made fries in a little olive and Rosemary done in the air fryer. . Snacks during the day or a banana, teaspoon of peanut butter, and 20 g of cheddar. I am not feeling overly hungry at any point And I have noticed that I don't need a snack before bed. I am about four weeks into reduced sugar and I Do feel better for it.

Had a good walk with my daughter yesterday. It was a nice day

That´s great! I hope to follow you there :) Also you just reminded me that I have a couple of potatoes left in the fridge and I might make airfryer chips for lunch :p

Hey Petal, just trying to catch up with people's diaries and see you are doing pretty well, I know this is a few days old, but it still seems to apply.
No gain or loss this week but I am hovering on a drop . Next week hopefully. But on the plus I feel slimmer and fitter and healthier and happier
That is one of the things about you that really impresses me, your ability to be happy with where you are. I hope one day to be the same, working on it!

The way you and Emily describe Ireland sounds like small towns and places here were most folks still live in the places they and their ancestors grew up. A difference I have observed between the US and what I know of European countries is that people are more mobile here. Many move hundreds or thousands of miles in life, often more than once. That has its advantages and disadvantages, fewer grudges and feuds, but it can leave people without the sense of family and place you are more likely to have. On the plus side I suspect you benefit from being closer to family and long term friends. I have never been to Ireland, so I am just speculating.

Great to see you keeping up your walking and exercise!

You're completely right on in your take on Ireland in my opinion Rob. You really should be happy where you are! But I know it's easier said than done.

Food sounds excellent Petal, you're doing great.

Hi Petal!! I hope all is going well with renovations. I hope things aren't too dusty or in disarray like our house always was fixing it up slowly. Are both your kids staying with you? Nice your daughter walks with you!! It sounds like you are so comfortable with your diet and life now. Lovely to hear how you are doing!!!

Rob yes that can be very true although personally I moved around a lot and only returned to settle in Ireland in my 30s so my friends are spread around the world .

LaMa hope you had your chips . Thanks Em yes I'm in a good place food wise thankfully.

Thanks Marsia . Yes both kids are here now for the foreseeable future. My son has a plan to save as much as possible and buy a house . He aims to rent rooms to help pay for it . He hopes to have deposit saved in a couple of years . We shall see . My daughter is working now and deferred college until pandemic eases off . We are all actually enjoying the time although son does miss his social life .

Work hectic , food ok , I have been tired last 2 days . Think I feel energy back up today . I think it's menopause hitting hard

So nice you have your kids there to help with the remodel and to help them during this time. It sounds like a really good plan to save for a house with housemates, and also not to go to college until everything is safe. Our school has kids from at least 3 different counties, so it's dicey going every other day, but we are letting her go so she has the tiniest bit of a social life. Hope the tiredness passes quickly.

That's cool Petal, I didn't know that about you. Smart move your son planning to get on the property ladder early. It really is a great asset to have.
