Oh me oh my!! Rode with the IRONMEN this morning. I have a whole new respect for those 3 little words "willin to suffer"

anyhow, so i get there and they are ready to go, and there is this one guy talking smack right out of the gate. Then, they ride FAST! so everytime we went into a turn this one guy would complain about the speed, and let's get a chance t warm up and all that. then apparently he got warmed up and started challenging people a bit, and even tried to lead a few times, just to get gassed out fast. finally the big boss told that dude to shut up and ride, long way to go. SO- I shut up! hahahahah

anyhow, that puts us about 30 minutes into a 3.5 hour ride!!! hahahaha what a thing to do.

these guys, and one gal are totally gnarly. We got the testosterone flying at one point and it ignited. Do not mess wth Ironmen. next thing ya know they are bumping back tires, rubbin handlebars, foot bumps (and our feet were going VERY fast)-- it was insane. I LOVED IT!

the girl was new too. i was behind her and told her "give that thing some gear honey" and she snapped back "don't call m honey" but later she told me that was the hint she needed so I can call her honey if i want... so much goes on in the pack. One guy threatened to twist my bars if I blow my nose one more time. hhahaha

Sparrow, "shift alot" saved my bacon this morning. thank you.

We rode just over 70 miles, average speed of 26, and hit a max speed of 41 on flat(NOT FLAT) ground.(EDIT-- my bike max speed was 41, and we had some hills,, Eswardo reviewed my post - Big Brother is watching, and he told me that my numbers were wrong....hahahah)

I could go on and on. But instead I think I will ice my knees.

Damn, you kill me....

I wuss out on a 30 mile ride and you ride a 70 miler and irritate everyone one the ride.......:D:D jk

sounds like a great kick arse ride FF

don't get too impressed. they, or WE-hhaha use a 3 layered drafting which creates a pocket that riders can fit in, to rest. the hardest part was staying very alert, and no wiggling around, FOCUS, for the rotation. I was rotating into the 3rd outside rear position. Has a headwind, but a half draft too. At the events there is NO drafting allowed.

I'm sending a PM to ya to go ride the course next saturday GR8.

FF, that is still very impressive! I sent you a pm and I'll give you a call tomorrow.

I appreciate the invite.

OHHHHHMIIIIIGOOOOOOODNESSSS I do not know what to say:eek2:

FF, I left you a pm and a phone message. I'm in for Saturday - let's go gassed!!!

Yeah, I have a road bike. It is an old school aluminum Klein with Campy Chorus and downtube shifters which are fine for training, but before I start racing next year, I'll have to spring for a carbon fiber road bike with brake shifters and Campy Chorus components.

This li Saturday ride will be all about mind, body an sprit Richard. Equipment shmipment.....

max the body to tap the brain, deplete the brain for spirirual dependance. the extreme athlete. We could stop off at lake whales and throw down a skydive too.

Today:
transition practice- 8 reps. decided I am using my sprint shoes on the bike and my gel bottoms for the run. Gunna go ahead ans wim without shoes.. hahaha

swam 125 meters, rode 3 miles, ran 1/2 mile for 8 reps. Took 3:09, and turned out to be one heck of a workout.

Did the bike and the run outside.

Feeling pretty ready transition wise, but doing it 8 times definately game a new level of confirdence.

swam 1.2 miles in 38 minutes
did a spin class (sprint series)

too tired and too much to do with wifey out. Seven weeks of this- I MISS MY LADY!!!!

so!
good night all.

OK- day before yesterday--

Swam 2.4 consecutive in the lane next to the IRONMAN Eswardo. He spent too much in the first mile, and I had him in the second. but the .4 became too much for me. I had to flip over on my back and pull slowly to catch my breath for a while.

he beat me by 6 up and backs. I finished nearly 10 minutes after him. my time was 1:20 or so.

then he got out and ran- I WAS TOAST! and limped out to my truck. There is a HUGE difference between and Ironman, and a 1/2 Ironman wanna be. believe me. those dudes / and dudettes- piss nails!

yeasterday - triple discipline brick!
swim 750
bike 60 min RPE 7
run 40 min RPE 5-7

Today, light run of 30 min RPE 5. (not done yet) but it will be 3 miles)

Then tomorrow (in case I con;t make it, it 150 min RPE3-5 varying) I have a complete 13.1 measured out.

Then Saturday I am riding the bike course with a member from here. I am very excited about that. Pics will follow Saturday.

well Phate- in better shape than ever before. But not good enough for IRONMAN at all. It is three major events all in a row on the same day. How cool is that??

Tonight I stretched the run out to 11.4 miles 1:49 minutes. I didn't have any water, since I was only planning on going 3. Around the 8-9 mile mark, i could feel the damage starting from no hydration. went on running anyways, planning to do the 13.1 and take tomorrow off, but it was feeling scary in the calves department.. and let me tell you this. 1:49 min on a small 1/3 mile trail, lap after lap is BORING!!

oh well- very good question.

Ironman- you know like "ironman" watches and glasses, and all that, come from an event called IRONMAN.

It is a 2.4 mi swim,
112 mi bike ride (more than a century),
and then a 26.2 mi run (a marathon)

get done within 24 hours and you be IRONMAN!

I'm doing a 1/2 Iron (on my way to Ironman) on the 20th.
I will swim 1.2, ride 56, and run 13.1 in less than 7 hours. that's the idea anyways.

but i can do a handstand too! hehehe
FF

OMG. SWIM 2.4 miles...SWIM?!?
112 MILE bike ride?
And then a 26 mile marathon

doing one of those alone is insane..doing all 3 in one day is Krazy!
Damn that is cool.

Good luck with the ride with Richard this saturday, FFer! :)

KEEP ROCKEN' ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
