Sport Pear Shaped Girls

Sport Fitness
Ok, I am curvy..pear shaped. All the threads about nutrition & weight loss, clean foods etc I read, but I could not find anything on body types. Isn't there certain foods I should be eating or not eating for a specific body type..

The only time I truly lost my pear shaped was by exercising twice a day and eating one piece of fruit for breakfast, one for lunch & a small salad with grilled chicken..that was it. I dropped the weight, but I couldn't take being so hungry all the time! I did research & learned more about what I should be eating, but I still have a hard time believing certain things. For example, my doctor said not to combine protein & carbs together because it's hard to digest. Now on this forum, that's all you see. Which is correct? Is there any truth behind the digestion factor? Suzanne Summers also said not to combine Carbs like pasta with protein.

That's why I need you guys!! Tell me what I have heard is bunch of crap! Every forum I read says one carb & one protein to make a meal. Summersize was a book Suzanne put out years ago. She said to never combine Complex carbs & protein. The worst food to eat she said was one that had fat, protein & carbs mixed..I guess almost like a protein bar? Another book I read way back..the Beverly Hills diet also said not to cmbine Complex Carbs with protein, and the is book also states to eat fruit alone never combined with anything! Where do these people come up with this stuff?

LV.. I thank you for all you info on these boards! You truly are great & very nice person too..you have a lot of patience!

Question: Why not combine carbs with fats? Do you mean like Toast or Oatmeal with peanut butter??

I think the key words were "years ago". There is always new information being discovered. All we can do is the best we can with the latest information available. Ten years from now, there will probably be more information, and we will look back and wonder what were we thinking? But, like I said, all we can do is try and keep up.

No problem! :)

It's ok to combine fibrous carbs with fat as they has little if any impact on insulin elevation. Combining a high GI carb (which will spike insulin) with a fat can and usually will, promote the storage of fat. Everyone is different and I've met a few people that do combine alll 3 macros in the same serving with no problems however the majority of my clients respond much better to the separation method.

I think I need a food combing book for dummies:p

look at it this way: if it didn't used to walk around, or come out of something that used to walk around, then its not protein.

cows, chickens, fish, milk, eggs, cheese (and protein powder) - protein sources

wheat, fruits, veggies, cereal - carbs

butter, nuts, oil - fat

yeah..I always got that part. What confuses me is what to combine with fats. For example I read that fats are not good with carbs. So that means no peanut butter on toast or oatmeal? And fruit, what do you combine fruit with besides protein powder? I thought cheese was not good for you???And, the times of day I am supposed to eat simple, complex, fiberous carbs confuses me too...I have so much to learn, but I find this interesting!

Combine fats with protein. Fruit and chicken, or lean meat. Natural cheese. Almost all of your carbs except for PWO should be complex/fibrous.

On a side not, I love me a pear shaped woman. ;)

Beans are excellent sources of protein, especially soybeans since it has 18 amino acids... I'm pretty sure they never walked around nor came out of anything that walked around.

I've heard good & bad about soy. I heard that it is a great source of protein, but I also heard it can slow down your metabolism.

There are also plant sources of proteins yo.

But they don't contain all the [essential] amino acids, hence why animal proteins are of higher quality.
