I had never heard of the SECA scan before now, so I just spent some time looking at their products. Do you know which machine you used (were you standing or lying down)? Did you follow any specific pretest instructions? Like no alcohol, first thing in the morning, not after exercise, etc.? How long will it be until your next scan? I'm sure in your studies you've come across the fact that BIA machines can have a lot of error associated with their results. I'm not saying they are totally useless, but you have to take the results with a grain of salt.

I used the SECA mBCA 514 which is supposed to be one of the best scans you can get. I wasn't planning on getting the scan so I did not do any specific pre-test instructions but did do it around 12pm (late-morning is recommended) and with no previous alcohol or exercise. Oh yeah, I am sure there is some room for error but it was an interesting read. It broke down muscle and fat composition of each individual part of the body along with intra/extracellular water and more. I plan on doing another scan once my internship ends in about 5 weeks =)

Out of the types of BIA machines out there, it is probably more accurate... Certainly much more than just the scale that you stand on type. As interesting as it is, just remember that it may not be giving you the full picture. But waiting 5 weeks sounds like a good plan! Unless you are able to use it more often to "play around" with it by testing out the results after drinking a bunch of water, after exercise, etc. Could be interesting to see how much your results would change based on your hydration status.

Just popped in to say hi. I just read back over your diary & saw that you have a 31" waist. Wow! I don't think I have had one of those since my early teens. Jealous! :D

Oneunanimous, I'm sorry for jumping in on your diary like that - I was just really intrigued by the whole question, and I'm very grateful for the answers!

I was surprised by the measuring myself! I appreciate that. I guess we all have our own idea of what we want our bodies to look like huh? I don't see a small waist in the mirror lol

My initial plan was to log my food on here daily but I am so used to myfitnesspal (mainly convenience and macro counting. I wish this had an app!) I have not skipped on logging anything since starting this diary.
My weigh-in today was 126.6 which means I lost exactly 2 lbs since my last weigh-in.
Yesterday morning I ran my first 10k ever and managed to train legs in the PM. I may have overtrained this week so I am taking today off. Overall I am feeling happy but still feel I have a ways to go.
I wish eating so strict wasn't such a struggle for me - especially after I train so hard in the gym or run 7 miles I want to eat back those calories because "I deserve it". That is such a bad habit I am proudly breaking myself of.

Cheers to progress not perfection.

Thank you everyone for the support. You guys made my morning.

Today's weigh-in this morning was 125.8. Yesterday morning it was 125.6 and I am beating myself up for .2 lb and I shouldn't be!! I had a goal with a friend to drop 2 lbs this week but that won't be happening for me I guess.
I know I went over my calories yesterday but only 100, if that! I had a couple bites of Halo ice cream after dinner - I have been craving everything but have been saying no, except last night I had to have a couple bites of something. I have junk food all over my house since I temporarily do not live alone. I mean I walk into the kitchen and see chocolate cake and cookies. I look in the pantry and there are chips, candy, chocolate, ect. I want to throw it all away so I am not tempted every second I'm home! Now that I am typing this... I realize that is mainly why I make poor decisions on the weekend. It is easily accessible! I can't remove the temptation because the things aren't mine so I will have to make a point to be home as little as possible. Since I meal plan, I already started preparing my logs for over the weekend and through next week. This will also help me. Cheers.

Could you ask your housemates to keep unhealthy foods (that don´t need refrigerating) in their personal spaces for a while?
Best of luck with mealplanning; I hate it but when I do it helps immensely.

I was hesitant to fill it out so thanks for informing on that! I meal prepped today for the rest of the week so I plan to start logging my foods here in the morning. I already have myfitnesspal filled out for tomorrow.

How has your weight loss journey been going for you? Have you noticed better lifestyle changes since you started using these forums?

MyFitnessPal is the BEST! I do the same, fill tomorrow out today so I have a plan and all my prep done so I know I can stick to it!

I wish - it is pretty scattered everywhere and they are the ones doing me a favor by letting me stay there since the home I was going to purchase fell through. I'm in the process of looking for another place so I don't feel I have the right to move their things. It is temporary though and it is forcing me to work on my will power - looking on the bright side
I have been meal prepping for several years and it is STILL something I dread! Lol but man is it key to eating healthy. I've gotten it down to taking maybe 1.5 hrs to prep all my breakfast lunches and dinners for 5 days though =P

YES IT IS!! Idk what I would do without myfitnesspal. Since I prep for the week I pre-log it out to make sure I am staying in my macros

This is a test of your willpower. It's great that they are letting you stay. I am going to go back to logging in MFP again, starting next Monday. I need to see what I am doing wrong. Kudos to you for meal planning :)

1.5 hours to prep 5 complete days? That's amazingly efficient!
I've learned to be extremely lazy IE keeping it as simple as possible to maximize my time. Rice cooker, egg cooker (life saver), if I'm grilling chicken then all my veggies are getting grilled with it, one pot dishes, ect. Now and then I get fancy but I've found my staples.
