I am a teenager and I have really severe depression and anxiety. Over the past few years it has caused me to gain a lot of weight. My weight fluctuates a lot, one week it could be 260 and a week later it is 240. I was on a 1600 calorie diet for over a month a while ago and I didn't lose a pound, recently I have been eating whatever I want (recently I have had a pretty bad depressive episode), and I didn't gain a pound either. I live a pretty sedentary lifestyle because my anxiety makes me terrified to go outside and my depression gives me almost no motivation. Occasionally I will give my dog a longer walk and a REALLY long play time. I often will play with him twice a day for like 10 minutes each, otherwise he plays with my other older dog. I realize that losing weight will really help my anxiety. My overall goal is to lose like 100lbs within 2 years, but hey I am open to losing 100lbs in a month with a "magical diet" too :) (I am just kidding around I know expecting a "magic diet" isn't realistic, I am just trying to lighten the mood) . It would mean a lot to me if you could give me a really strict diet. The other diets I have been on (that didn't work) only said things like "eat under x amount of calories"; It was really tough calculating every calorie of every glass of juice. If you have a really *specific really effective diet for me I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

I think your first step should be to seek counselling for your depression and anxiety. Are you getting any treatment currently?

As for your diet, I'd suggest sticking to six small, healthy meals a day. Use small plates to control your portion sizes. Could you maybe do an at home fitness DVD? I know how much depression cuts into motivation but just doing what you can when you can will help.

The thing that's helping me at the moment is not grazing inbetween meals.

Yeah, I have therapy multiple times a week. Currently I have a diet plan of small meat or rice or salad for meals and things like toast and apples for snacks throughout the day. I really appreciate the responses.
