Sport Oatmeal vs. Cereal

Sport Fitness
Sorry for the annoying topics by the way guys.

Anyways, my mother just bought some oatmeal. Some Quaker State or something. Anyways, I look at the nutritional values, and not only is the servings SMALL, but they have around the same, if not, MORE calories and sugar, and sodium than cereal.

Well, does anyone think this will set me back? I have to eat them all. And is it better with milk, or water? Which tastes better?

That depends on your preference. Is it instant/preflavored oatmeal?

Uh....I guess... :p

I just open the pouch, pur the contents into a bowl, add 125ml of water or milk, and heat, I guess that's about it.

You really want Old Fashioned oatmeal, not the instant stuff. Flavor with cinnamon and splenda

And yes, you want plain, unflavored stuff, becasue the "Maple & Brown Sugar" instant flavor does have added sugar, sodium, etc...adn the serving size is smaller too.

Alright, can someone recommend a cheap, widespread oat thing? Someone that is preferrably near the closest food basics, or Fortinos.

I eat the Quacker OLD FASHIONED (NOT INSTANT OR QUICK) oatmeal. I like mine with low sodium salt and sometimes a packet or two of sweet and low. (STAY AWAY FROM EQUAL!). I pour it in a bowl, add purified water, and cook in the microwave for 1 1/2 minutes. Pretty quick to me! And VERY healthy. Instant oatmeal has very little or no health benefits.

If it is the non instant stuff than mix it with some cerial like frosted mini weats or tatal or somthng that wont hurt your diet. Eat raw like it was cerial. Best breakfast on earth.

If it is the small packets of flavored oatmeal then give it to your local foodbank or to a freind. Too much sugar. and it is instant, Blech!

-_-''

I have to eat it all now....

My mother bought 2 packages, since they were on special. Anyway's, I've got 18 more pack's to go through. 18 more day's.... :(

Yes, that is the kind you need! Some people STILL make this kind unhealthy by adding butter, sugar, too much salt, etc... I don't like blueberries, but adding them would be an excellent idea and very healthy - great source of antioxidants. It's ok that you bought the wrong kind, now you know and that's what matters! :)

Yep, your photo of Quaker Old Fashioned Oatmeal is the exact stuff you want. jazz it up with cinnamon, splenda, sugar free maple syrup (made from splenda) and peanut butter.

you can add fruit like berries and bananas if you want. If you like nuts, bananas and almonds would go well in it.

just wandering is it OK to eat oatmeal at any other time other than breakfast, maybe like a bowl at dinner or something?? Thanks :)
Of coarse! I personally am eating it 3 times a day now mixed with frozen strawberries....well they aren't frozen when I eat them but you know what I mean :)

Question;

Do I have to COOK the oatmeal...can't I just....eat it like regular cereal? XD I mean, it sure would taste a whole lot better...

Also, would someone be kind enough as to please state the nutritional value of that oatmeal I gave a picture of above? ;)

Someone wanna please answer my darn question? -_-''

Nobody - I'd sign up for a FREE fitday.com account so you can look up all these nutrition facts instead of waiting days on end for someone to reply to you.

I'm an advocate of avoiding carbs late in the day. after 5pm for me it's protein and fats, with carbs only coming from fiber and veggies.

150 calories per serving x 3 = 450 = not a lot.
I happen to be eating 3000 cals a day now but when I was cutting at 2200 a day I still had the same amount. Oatmeal is argueably the number one complex carb in the bodybuilding/fitness world. But as I'm sure you've heard - not that packaged sh*t. :)

Holy carp. You gentlemen eat 3000 calories? Whoa, I eat like,....2 times less than that.... -_-''

You must all work out around 2 or 3 hours every day with resting days or something.

Nope, we just eat proper. 3000 was his bulking diet, 2,200 cals was his cutting diet.
