Not in the chest but in the legs

Well my partner didnt show up so i did it all on my own and mixed it up a little and did today on a treadmill. Now does this make a difference?

Let me tell you about todays run first though

I did the reg 2 mls.

I picked a pace that felt good. I jogged the first .15 and then walked the next .15. Now saying that, It felt great, I was going at a pace where i was doing a lap in around 3 min mark. I did this for a 1.5 miles. My legs NEVER HURT. They started to feel a little something in the last 1/2 mile of 2. This felt great, I got the 1.5 ml done in 18:10 which was :40 fast than my best so far.

So my question, is the tread any different than running the track? THere are the obvious, but is the distance the same? If so then it is a matter of finding my pace then right?

One last note, the shin thing; I watched myself running and made sure that my heel was the first to hit and get full motion. NO shin probs this time so i think we found the prob...thx for the advise.

The distances are the same, a mile is a mile. However, you tend to run faster times because the belt is propelling you along. The treadmill is probably the best surface to run on if you are having joint or shin problems (if you decide to continue to run). The shocks provide a nice give to the board making it easier on your body.

Ran today on the track.

20:51

ran 1/2 walked 1/2

all of them.

My legs were killing me, It has to be the difference in the surfaces.

My time had to have slipped as the laps went on cuz the first lap was under 3 minutes and it got worse as the laps built. On the tread mill i always ran the same pace or i would fall on my face so how do i make this so on the track....

Feeling kinda discouraged.....

well hmmmm...thought i would hear from someone by now...

Today i did it in 21:00, my legs are killing me....especially my right front shin....I can barely walk on it...my wife gave me a rub down on it and it brought tears to my eyes.

I think i'm going to take it easy tomarrow and just walk out the soreness, but it is so hard for me to not run. I am so dedicated to this work out and test....UHHHHHHHHHHh

Ummm....maybe it is best to sit low for now. When you say you were sore, what kind of sore is it? Where you might have an injury, or you just worked a muscle hard type of sore? As much as you have been running(I am assuming 3-4 weeks nonestop), it does'nt hurt to take a couple of days off. But it is good that you are so dedicated. As far as trying to maintain your pace like on the track, I think that that is just going to take some heart. If you want it bad enough you can do it. Well, what helps me is I get a budy that is about as fast as me, and we push each other. Don't get discouraged. Everyone has their bad days. Just be patient with yourself. You'll get there. Just keep on trucken.

I think it is more sore than injury, It goes away after a day or so. Like yesterday, man i was gimpy all night. Today i just walked 2 mls and then swam a few laps. It felt good to work out some of the soreness. I have always taken the weekends off. Seems that every good day i have is on Mon. after my weekend break. So I am taking the weekend off and going to push it on monday and see how it works out.

I am just wondering what is up w/ the surface thing. I am wearing NIke running shoes, but it is obvious that the tread mill is so much easier than the track for me and the soreness. Is there a better set of shoes out there for me. I have my test on Mon, Nov 3rd so i could break a new pair in but i think the ones i have are fine. Any thoughts?

Tell me about this test. What are you going to do? Well, it is always good to try and find the lightest shoe. My bud trained in shoes that weaghed a ton. When he went to go get a new, lighter shoe, he flew. His time inproved 40 seconds in the 3-mile from the getgo. I'm not saying everyone will drop that much time, but your time will drop. On the other hand, if you think the pair you have is OK, then it should be OK.

Just go to my first post here and there is the explination of the test and how it will

work.http://training.fitness.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=184

The shoes are just what i picked up to run in, I dont know how much they weigh or anything. I never thought about weight, how do i find that out other than weighing them.

I dont think that my grocier would appreciate my shoes in his vege weigher...lol.

Do you have a shoe suggestion.

^^
lol
Thats a biiiiiiiiiiig test, but you can do it. As far as the shoes, just take your running shoes up to any store and hold both shoes in your hand. As far as what kind? N-balance has always been good to me. I literally put about 400 miles on them. I have Sketchers now. Just experementing with other shoes. They are OK, but I think N-balance slightly edges them out. Cleets(with spikes) are really light, but I would'nt buy them for just this test because it sounds like you run on hard surfaces the whole time. They would only use them a couple of times then.

Yea...no kidding, now u know why i have been so dedicated and determined. This is like a 2 1/2 times what i make pay raise and a major goal accomplishment.

I am in for it though, i didnt find out about the test till the first of Oct. but man have i been training and it is paying off. I am right at the line w/ 60.6% but it can only get better as long as i am smart about it.

I will check out the shoes this weekend.

I never made it to the mall, so rather than take the chance of wearing and breaking in some some shoes couple of days before the test i thought i would just stick w/ what i got...

Still having calf pain?

Just checking your posts and thought maybe I could give some advice. Just like you I've experienced similar calf pains and these two rehabilitation excercises really worked for me:

*1st: Walk on your tip toes for about one minute
switch
*2nd: Walk on your heels for about one minute

Do this 3x's each day.

I hope this helps. Good luck on your test!!! Ü

So, your test date is coming up.... you feel confident about it? I think you'll do well. Are you going to continue exercising even after the test is over??

Yea....Monday

I am getting excited and axious....the track here has been flooded so i havent been able to run as much this week as i wanted to but that may be God telling me to back off...I was hurting pretty bad last Thurs.

I was going to push it Mon. but the weather wasnt working and both treds were Out of order in the gym.

Its sunny today so maybe there is some drying going on and i can run it out today. I want to give it one good go before i go.

I think i am going to do fine, its going to be close but i like it that way...LIAR...under these circumstances that is.....I have really strengthen my bench and am hopeful.

Oh yea...

Of course im going to continue....

Some things are going to change a little....I am only doing BP's and running....i will go back to full body workouts on MWF and Cardio on TT...but yea....starting to see the change in my body and my sex life...lol...gotta love that...

Well the track was semi - dry and i pushed it today. 18:30.....I have done that on the tred but not on the track....I am in dier pain now and my chest is killing me. Its getting really cold here so i think that is the chest thing. My legs are killing me...Should i still be hurting like this after every run?

Well, if you are pushing youself as hard as you can go everytime, then ya. You are doing a good job. Keep up the good work. Oh ya. You probably know, but incase you don't, don't train too hard the day before the tst. Maybe just jog a mile.

I maxed my bench today and have upped that 30lbs in 30 days....i jsut walked 2 miles today and planning to just lift some of the sore out and walk another 2 and get some treatment from the AT and sit in the tub for a while.

Thx for the advice and will let all know how it goes....

So, your test is the 3rd or the 5th if I recall correctly? Have you been icing after your workouts? Let us know how it goes!
