Nobody's high weight training~! (now with spectacular weekly updates!! =D )

Body building and powerlifting are completely different, and I'm worried because switching over to bodybuilding will cause great declines in my lifting numbers, and the time it takes for me to get back up is nonsense (1-2 months).

Why would that be? I switched from training my 1rm to a more BB style a couple of months back and my lifts are still increasing.

This idea that powerlifting will get you strength but not size and BBing will give size but not strength is bollocks of the highest level.

Anyone know that Arnie was also a champion powerlifter in his youth? He trained as a powerlifter at the same time as doing BB comps.

Haha, good tip tic. The closest thing was a 435 bench, and to think I aimed for a 450x1. LOL. In all honesty though, with a good left ulna, I think I'll be able to progress up to 405x1 by the 6month length.

Thanks for the links wesrman, I always knew of Westsides, but I was always inclined to making my own routines. I'll have to contemplate what I'm doing, but if I decide to change, westsides definately looks like something I'd love to do.

Thank's Hoss, see you've changed your name, what you're not Superman anymore?

Typhon, I can see what you're saying. I remember bench only 135 about 3 months back. Back then, 225x1 was the long term goal. But now that I've hit 315, I reckon I can do 225x10 without a problem, maybe even 275x10 when I get warmed up. I don't know, you're training different muscle fibres in the muscle, so theoretically won't this hinder gains in both departments?

And I want to have a nice body. Well in all honesty the main things I think I need in the cosmetic muscle department is a better chest and shoulders (oddly enough...). Also arms and forearms I guess. Neck too, legs....okay so yeah I need a few improvements.

you know those bench press # are most likely with a shirt, right? So you might be closer than you think.

Becoming a Doctor of Pharmacy and applying for residencies, I'd prefer not to have me saying 'vagoo' and 'moobies' next to my first initial and last name on the .net.. lol.

Bench Press: Ugh, this was frustrating. The bone in my left forearm still hurt, but the difference between today and other days is that I usually don’t feel the bone until workouts POST bench/dip day. At about 275lbs I felt the pressure pain on my forearm. It’s been 3 weeks now. I seriously don’t want to quit lifting for a while because one week of inactivity results in 3 or 4 weeks of training to get back to the point where you left off.
No increase in bench. No progress frustrates me.

Dips: I won’t count the +45 I did as a warmup. It was easy, and I think I could’ve increased to +90, but even from doing unweighted dips the bone again hurt. I decided to call it quits after about 2 warm up sets.

ChinUps: Thought I could pull off 10, weaker than I thought.

PullUps: Nothing in the pullup department. I don't do them because I don't like them and I'm lazy. Pullups are hard.

Curls: Not gonna be curling the bar. From now on if I curl anything it’ll be dumbbells. Hopefully my forearm gets stronger and heals.

Squats: Gonna be feeling it tomorrow…..You know what? ....squats is a bitch of a mistress, but I love her.

Leg Press: Not bad, like this machine more when I do higher reps.

Alright. I'm really indecisive. I read some powerlifting text, and the way powerlifting training goes is completely different from what I thought it was. I was always doing maximal lifts every week, but apparently that doesn't work so well. It really....changed the way I think.

I also am seriously considering going back to bodybuilding a bit. I look really skinny, and instead of knowing that I'm powerful, despite looking like a twig, I'd really like to put on some "cosmetic mass". I'll try what Typhon said earlier. I won't lose all my power, because while before I was never able to put up 225x1, now that I'm at 315x2 I seriously think I could put up at least 275x10. And if I stay consistent I shouldn't lose that strength.

I did legs on a bodybuilding routine today, and I rekindled my love of bodybuilding. Feels great. So I've come to establish that I just love the weight and process itself.

Guys. Wish me luck. I'll try my best with whatever I decide to do.

Good luck brother man. There is nothing wrong with cosmetic muscle man; nothing at all. Maybe that "time-off" from powerlifting will do you some good. I think the only thing that you will have to change is more food intake for your diet, your routine is crazy.
