Weight-Loss No binge, no purge - one day at at time.

Weight-Loss
Good for you LaMa! It does all sound good.
Found this interesting article, Rob. Hopefully, it will get easier for you. After 1 year, weight loss gets easier to maintain - Futurity
Thanks Cate, that is a good article, guess I have a while to go...

No binge today, and while I did have urges they were not so bad as they have been. It was a good day.

Let's not binge tomorrow!

Glad to hear the cravings weren't as bad. I ate a little bit less, calorie-wise, than I normally do and so was a little bit hungry, but nothing crazy. No binge urges.

Hey LaMa, fewer calories without binge urges is great! As good as it gets.

No binge here today, I did have some urges, but not as bad as a few days ago, and nothing I could not manage.

Let's not binge tomorrow!

Was hungry all day today - probably a reaction to yesterday´s lower calories. No binge drive though, which made me SO happy.

No binge drive is good news LaMa! You know I don't feel much difference the day after a lower calorie day, it all seems the same.

No binge here today but I have been thinking about how I have been eating. I am eating more low calorie foods so I can eat more food mass, sometimes it feels kind of like bingeing without the calories. I am not sure its a bad thing, as LaMa has pointed out its better than being obese. I keep on struggling with figuring out if its ok and sustainable, maybe I worry too much. Maintaining is what should matter...

Let's not binge tomorrow!

If your digestion is back to almost normal and your blood work looks good why worry? Normal is what works for you. You've only been in maintenance for 8 months or so, right? It's ok to not have everything fully figured out.

On the prowl. Don´t quite know why. I ate enough, but I really want to eat more. Had an extra 90 g of crackers and half a grapefruit. Which should really be enough. It´s possible that rather than hungry I´m having a slight allergic reaction to the half an apple I ate with lunch but it definitely feel like a need for food. Or at least a strong want. I also want to go out and move but it´s cold and slippery and gross, so the frustration about that is probably not helping either.

No binge is good LaMa, half a grapefruit and a few grams of crackers isn't a bad thing. I have some fresh citrus my brother sent from Florida and I have been eating a lot of oranges and grapefruit the past few days.

No binge here, I did want to keep eating after lunch but managed to resist. Not too hard.

Let's not binge tomorrow!

Good work. I just dreamed I ate two family-sized bags of chips. I felt so gross and yet I just kept eating :puke: I could feel a thin film of grease build up inside my mouth, so I couldn't even really taste the chips anymore but I couldn't resist the urge to keep crunching on. First time I had a binge dream, I guess I'm a real member of this club now!

I have been thinking about high volume, low calorie foods. This is a list of approximately how many grams of some things you can eat for 100 calories:
  • 425 grams of broccoli or cauliflower
  • 350 grams spaghetti squash
  • 340 grams of okra
  • 250 grams of peach
  • 230 grams of low-fat Greek yogurt
  • 200 grams of blueberries
  • 163 grams of full fat yogurt
  • 110 grams of potato (baked or boiled)
  • 90 grams of brown rice (cooked)
  • 63 grams spaghetti (cooked noodles)
  • 50 grams of salmon
  • 33 grams ground beef (70% lean)
  • 16 grams peanut butter
  • 15 grams walnuts
  • 14 grams butter
Not hard to see how I landed on my high veggie diet, lots of food for not many calories.

Hey LaMa, binge nightmares are better than the real thing, but can feel just as bad or worse. Hope you don't have more of either the dreams or the real thing!

No binge here today, was a kind of funny eating day we had a grandkid's birthday party and had the big meal mid-afternoon. Ended up getting my calories earlier than normal, and it has made the evening a bit harder, but not too bad.

Let's not binge tomorrow.

I think it's great that you're going along with life around you, even it that makes it a bit harder to do things exactly right. Life can't be all about our weight all the time forever.

I have been thinking about high volume, low calorie foods. This is a list of approximately how many grams of some things you can eat for 100 calories:
Good list Rob, I added some of my staples:
  • 714 grams of celery
  • 667 grams of lettuce (romaine)
  • 434 grams of spinach
  • 425 grams of broccoli or cauliflower
  • 384 grams of bell pepper
  • 350 grams spaghetti squash
  • 340 grams of okra
  • 323 grams of green beans
  • 250 grams of peach
  • 244 grams of carrots
  • 233 grams of blackberries
  • 230 grams of low-fat Greek yogurt
  • 200 grams of blueberries
  • 192 grams of apples
  • 163 grams of full fat yogurt
  • 135 grams 2% cottage cheese
  • 126 grams of tuna (chunk light)
  • 119 grams of black beans
  • 112 grams banana
  • 110 grams of potato (baked or boiled)
  • 91 grams of cooked boneless skinless chicken breast
  • 90 grams of brown rice (cooked)
  • 80 grams of deli turkey
  • 75 grams beef loin (fat trimmed)
  • 63 grams spaghetti (cooked noodles)
  • 63 grams avocado
  • 58 grams of pork loin (fat trimmed)
  • 53 grams of ground turkey (93% lean)
  • 50 grams of salmon
  • 33 grams ground beef (70% lean)
  • 16 grams peanut butter
  • 15 grams walnuts
  • 14 grams butter

I can't just graze on celery, but I can do things like mix some tuna with avocado to stuff the celery and get a lot more bang for my calorie buck...

No binge today. Kind of hungry but not too bad.
Good for you LaMa!! I doubt I will ever be past having more hunger than I want, just something to learn to live with. Eating more normally may help.
You are right life cannot be all about weight all the time, I know I worry and think about it too much. It is hard finding a sustainable way, if I don't pay at least some attention I am pretty sure I will start regaining...

Hey Err, thanks for the expanded list, we probably ought to find a better place to post it than here, I think its a good reference for folks. I particularly appreciate seeing celery and lettuce, I eat a lot of lettuce. Sometimes I eat a whole head of lettuce like a big apple or something. Celery not so much, but I do eat some. I eat big cucumbers the same way.

No binge today, I was not feeling well. Kind of interesting though, in the morning I could not finish breakfast, then came back a couple of hours later when I was feeling a bit better to finish. At first it was hard, but by the time I was done it was hard to stop eating again, some things never change.

Let's not binge tomorrow!

No binge yesterday, but I did eat a lot of veggies, including a bunch of raw broccoli and cauliflower for a morning snack. Guess I have decided to keep on doing the high volume low carb thing and see how it goes.

Let's not binge today!
