Sport Night Craving- How to stop??

Sport Fitness
It does sound like you could try eating a big dinner. I used to be a 'grazer' cos i just thought that was how I liked my food, but really I just wasn't used to eating large meals. When I started eating larger meals, I just had no desire to snack. I actually ended up eating less than I would have when snacking.

Breakfast choices- wholemeal bread 2x with peanut butter/ 1 yoghurt with 2 hard boiled eggs/ oatmeal ceral with 200ml of milk,

Lunch- 1/2 can of tuna with green lettuce, cherry tomatoes, strawberries Or chicken with tuna/ tuna sandwich wholemeal bread/ fish soup noodles

mid noon- either 1 yoghurt/ milk200ml / 1 banana/ 2 hard boiled eggs

preworkout- either 1 yoghurt/ milk200ml / 1 banana/ 2 hard boiled eggs

postwork- protein shake 20g

You seem to have breakfast and lunch in order with a few snacks in between, however your lack of a decent dinner is probably what's making you snack at night. Also tv can bring on anxiety that will cause you to eat more, at least it did for me. If you're gonna snack while watching tv, snack on healthy stuff like Almonds.

As for the holidays food fest. Try to use common sense with your food choices but don't deny yourself a few small endulgences during this time. BTW, there a whole podcast about holiday eating tips on my last podcast (episode 16). You can check it out at

Happy New Years... ;)

Why do people think it's bad to have a midnight snack?
The longer one goes without food, the more muscletissue will be broken down for energy!

I usually eat half a cup of curds or an egg before bed.

I go through the same feeling. When it gets later in the evening I want to eat the most fattening foods & a lot of it. The only technique that works for me is...

1 Clear your kitchen from everything fattening. Only healthy foods. If you live with someone make them keep a stash hidden if they get junk food. Because if you know there is candy in the kitchen, there will be no stopping. And since it's late at night most ppl are less inclined to drive to the store for a craving.
2 Drink hot flavored tea. The sleepy kind without caffene. This will fill your stomach.
3 Avoid workouts at night, because you will feel more hungry & want to eat before bed.
4 If you must chew on something, like I usually have to chew on something when I study so I can think, keep unsugared gum beside you. But I suggest just going cold turkey & drinking hot tea is best for you.
5 For me, once I enter the kitchen to relieve my tummy of hunger pains before bed, intially I feel I am making the right decision by eating one or two veggies. But if you can't stop yourself at this point & you find you are like me.... reaching for a few crackers, & then some icecream. It is best just to stay away from food all together.

Oddly enough, one trick to stop night snacks that has always worked for me is drinking big amounts of gas mineral water. After guzzling my way through the bottle, my stomach normally feels quite full, so I get the feeling that if I were to eat something on top of it, I'd burst!

I just found this article and although its about weight loss...it does mention about cravings/control of your eating. Hope this helps.

do you usualy give into the cravings? If so what do you eat when you do? If you don't then I at least you can take confort in knowing you havn't done anything yet. If you do, then just try to eat something that won't do to much damage.

Try eating maybe a sweet fruit {cantalope, honeydew, peaches, ect} They do contain some sugars, but I would think the good of the fruit would outdo any of the effects of the natural sugars in the fruit. Besides it's fruit, how bad would it be for you?

you might want to try eating some air popped popcorn.

its quick, and if you eat it plain you can satisfy your 'maunching crave' without too many calories(about 30 in one cup plain)- you can eat amounts of it like you'd eat of chips with way less calories, and it seems like your filling yourself up.

it also has some fibre in there. good luck!
