New Year's Resolutions

To not make any

How are you going to accomplish those goals?

Goals should be Smart
Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and timely.

What's your plan for said goals... :)

Anyone out there with any fun/unusual resolutions?

Mal, I know what to do, it's just a matter of sticking to it. For example...for weight-loss I'll start with portion control/choosing healthier alternatives with each meal, making adequate time to sleep/ not sleeping every chance I get lol, and making time for some type of physical activity at least 3 times a week.

And for saving money, stop SPENDING! lol...no, I have a gambling issue I'm learning to control. I have a support system I need to actually use.

Like I said...its all about sticking to the plan. I tend to give up when I get stressed. Not ruling out any advice or new strategies but I think I gotta get the basics down 1st.

Sometime shortly after New Years I'll finally be stepping below 200 pounds so after that I want to reach my goal weight (180) which shouldn't take more than a few months and after that I want to find a healthy and sustainable weight I can stick with.

Other than that I would like to be able to run 13.1 miles (half marathon) next year which I think is definitely possible for me. I want to be able to run a full marathon at some point but I think that's a little further away.

I don't know a single person that can run half a marathon! That's so awesome. :D

I hate making resolutions, but I'm always up for trying to be less lazzy/a better person. I'm getting better at it.

1. Become a better dog mom. <3 I need to spend more time with them, and take them for walks instead of just letting them out to pee (fenced in area).

2. Go to school more often so I can graduate. lol.. I hate school, but I really don't want to get stuck going to a community college when I have scholorships to private schools, simply because I didn't graduate on time. EEK.

3. Start doing Yoga daily again!

4. Learn to listen to my body, and try to de-pollute it as much as I can.

I'm starting these before new years but it'd be awesome if I could keep up with them through all of 2009.

I think this is the first year where I am NOT going to have any..I never succeed at them, mainly because I feel forced into trying (whatever it may be).

Although I REALLY have to give up smoking..I know Im not ready yet, and one day I will be..hopefully :)

Good luck to y'all who are setting goals for the new year though.

I don't make resolutions.

I just wish the gym wasn't going to be so full in January with New Year's Resolution people filling it up when they're just going to give it up in February. Let's be honest, 95% of them won't be there in Feb.

Yeah, but that is not really fair though. I was one of those last year that started going to the gym for a New Years Resolution- I stuck with it. It is not about the 95% that go away but the 5% that stick with it that is important.

While I agree with you that it will be irritating for a while- we all needed a kick in the ass to get started and for some of them this is it. It was for me last year.

Not making any resolutions. I used to, and never stuck with them. If I made them now, and failed, it would just make me feel bad and like throwing the towel.

I'll just take things as they come and deal with them best I can, make the best out of my life.

Hmm...maybe that's a resolution after all...to make the best out of my life. But I think that's one I can live with.

And I found that 1280x1024 is better....you might want to give that a try....;)

:)

FUN! I love New Year's resolutions, I like the idea of fresh starts, and in my view, IF I HAVE TO REMEMBER TO WRITE "09" OR "2009" INSTEAD OF "08" OR "2008" THEN THAT'S SOMETHING NEW, might was well add some resolutions to it! You don't agree with me? no problem! Enjoy New Year's anyway, I'll be at a giant party in the Tenderloin of San Francisco that goes on until 6am! Talk about a "fresh start"--HA! :ack2:

1. Get into diet mode and drop the last 5-10 lbs--this is realistic as I've done it before (well, short 2 lbs), in 2007--in time for March's Fetish Ball (hello, latex dress!)
2. Volunteer for the Women's Prison in Santa Cruz (not sure how, but I'll figure it out).
3. Learn to rock climb, and get better at Acroyoga
4. Put cash into IRA account
5. Cook more, for myself, like I used to. Ah, fuck it--cook for others, too. A lot of my friends seem to really enjoy my cooking.
6. Start a Burning Man art project to bring, in September
7. Sew my own costume/clothes for future parties, my friend Chris knows how to tailor and will help me.

What are your resolutions for 2009???

I resolve to be better about keeping track of special days (i.e. birthdays/anniversaries) of those I care about.

To this end, I have calendars that I will pass around to all the adults at Christmas. Everyone will be asked to go through these calendars and mark the special days of their children, spouses and themselves.

I hope if I have all the dates marked on the calendar thatI will be much better about remembering to acknowledge these days with a card, phone call or gift.

Oh...everybody gets to take a calendar home too because BF got a dozen. A picture he took was selected for use in the calendar, so he got a dozen for free. :) My man takes a good picture.

I have a few goals for the new year for myself:

1. Get thru this first crazy semester of school that starts in Jan. and be an excellent student and make friends and learn a lot!!!

2. Make working out and keeping track of my calories a priority and be more accountable with food on here, and with myself. If I want to lose more weight and get fit then that is the only way I can see myself doing it.

3. Be more positive everyday, I want to focus on the positive in all aspects of my life instead of always looking at the negative and paying attention to that. I'm doing better with this already but I want to get really good at it in 09.

4. I'm restricting myself from buying any clothing until May/June 2009. I'm doing this so I can keep a tab on my money better while I'm in school, plus I need to save and always be able to pay the necessities first (rent, insurance, etc...)

5. I'm not sure on a goal weight I want to hit for June 09 but I know I want it to be at least under 200lbs... Preferably 190 or so (that would be my lowest in a long ass time).

So many people let everything go to shit once they start school and get into that routine. I don't want to put my fitness and weight loss on the back burner anymore than I already have. Sure I will be extremely busy with school and work a good portion of the time but I have to get to the gym on a regular basis so I can achieve what I really want.

-Sam

Those are great goals, Sam :)
