New Years Resolutions 2008

Step One
Be realistic by setting achievable goals. Winning the lottery, for example, is out of your grasp.
Step Two

Describe your resolutions in specific terms. Instead of "I don't want to be lazy," opt for "I want to exercise regularly" or "I will cut down on my television watching."
Step Three
Break down large goals into smaller ones. For instance, commit to losing weight by resolving to join a gym and improve your eating habits.
Step Four
Find alternatives to a behavior that you want to change, and make this part of your resolution plan. So you want to quit smoking but you smoked to relax yourself? What other forms of relaxation are available to you?
Step Five
Above all, aim for things that are truly important to you, not what you think you ought to do or what others expect of you.

It's almost that time of year again, where we go all out and make our resolutions for the new year to do something, to be something, to improve our lives... usually to fall off the wagon by February 8... Looking at my 2007 resolutions,, the only one I really achieved was the one I had a definite plan in place for and had some belief in... the rest - kind of fell off...

Some people are just so perfect :) that they don't bother with resolutions, or at least don't use New Years as the excuse to make a change - but -eh - it's a fresh start for a lot of people.. so are you planning resolutions - what are they - have you set a plan to go about getting them?

2008!

Morning,

Last year, I made the New Year's Resolution that I would get down to 135 pounds and get healthy. I'm very proud of myself to realize I've accomplished that.

This year, I've learned sooo much about myself and what I can achieve that I'm currently debating about my 2008 goals. I now know I have the fortitude and ability to do, well, just about anything I want....the challenge is to zero in on something.

So far, I'm debating between:

* Earning a black belt in Karate (okay, that's a given).
* Learning Brazilian Jui-Jitsu
* Excelling in Kendo
* Excelling in Aikido
* Tackling the P90X workouts

I'm pretty sure my personal resolution will be one of those.

Enjoy,

Barbara

I don't usually make resolutions, because I hate the disappointed feeling when I let myself down. So I decided to only make ones I WANT to keep. LOL! A few years ago my resolution was to try a new hobby, scrapbooking. Now it's still my hobby.

My resolution this year is to get in shape. I've been losing weight, but once I reach my goal, I actually want to get in good shape...be able to do more than half a dozen push-ups, work on toning and strength training while I watch and see if my tummy skin firms up AT ALL. lol!

:smilielol5: I hear ya's I always make resolutions and never do what I PLAN to do I did however lose a little more weight this year,I was 192's last year and I am sitting @ 178 right now so I have maintained and lost 14 lbs not too bad.

My 2008 RESOLUTION IS TO GET TO MY IDEAL WEIGHT AND DOING THIS BY EATING AND MAKING BETTER CHOICES IN FOOD.I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO START JOGGING IN THE 2008 ,SOMETHING I HAVE NEVER DONE TO LOSE THE WEIGHT AND GET AND STAY IN SHAPE.LMAO I WOULD SAY RIDE A ROLLER COASTER BUT NNNNNNNNNOOOWAY ON THAT RESOLUTION HAHAH MY KIDS LUV EM!

I haven't completely gotten them written out yet but...

1. Improve Upper body strength so that I can do at least one push up and pull up. but preferably more than that.. I'm working on my plan for this to happen, just never realized how weak my shoulders and back were.

2. Chicago 2008 Marathon in October-Walking it in the time limit given is a no brainer, I want to do better so running it is it.

3. Waist size below 29 inches.

Pushups and pullups (or chinups) are utterly awesome to do! My kids and I are the only ones in karate class who go "Yay!" when the senseis say, okay, pushup time! :)

has some really good info on it as well.

Best wishes,

Barbara

My 2008 resolution is to become Superman. I think I can achieve it if my father actually lived on another planet, sent me to earth as a baby, and now the "yellow star" gives me super powers...

but seriously, I don't like making resolutions. I don't like making them, but I usually do anyway, secretly. If you don't tell anyone, then there'll be no one to ask you at the end of the year if you kept it :D

No soda.

It's a short and sweet resolution. I've done this one before and have made it throught an entire year twice before. So this year I think I'll start early. As soon as I finish the orange soda in my hand the resolution begins. Glug, glug, glug...

I started my new health routine BEFORE 2008 just because I didn't want it tied to the whole "New Years Resolution" thing. I needed something new and exciting, and I've used the "I'll start after Christmas" excuse way too many times.

In other news, I'm not excited about the gym being packed the couple weeks after the new year, when everyone decides to give it another go. :p

my new years resolution is...

Work on building muscle, and dropping body fat a bit more
start boxing classes, i really want to box!
work hard in school
feel good about myself

I write out insane New Year's resolutions.

I'm not even kidding...they include attached administrative sections and an appendices to operationalize terms.

'Tis fun!

I want to:

graduate from college
get into a good grad school
lose 41 more pounds (so i'll be 135)
save a little bit of money
run the country music 1/2 marathon and of course
Be happy

I think my resolutions this year will be:
Lose 50 more pounds
Do well in school
Make new, better friends in Huntington.

This will be the first year of my entire almost 31 years of living that I will not resolve (in my head or vocally or on paper) to lose weight or get in shape.

I have no need to make this a resolution because I'm already doing it.

Resolutions:

Study Russian. Learn to read, speak, and understand Russian.

Resolutions '08

1. Diet
a) No energy drinks
b) No potato chips
c) No chocolate
d) NO BOOZE

2. Exercise
a) 5 days a week minimum (specific days off are immaterial)

3. Class
a) Stop skipping. :)
b) CAN material by Sunday, no exceptions

4. Money
a) Reduce monthly expenses to 50% of income. (Goal was 60% this year, hit 77%, a big fail, but not bad considering my past habits)

5. Avocational activities
a) Read with purpose (Anything worth reading should have accompanying notes)
b) Reading content should involve financial goals or vocational goals and minimize superfluous content.

6) Vocational activities
a) Prepare for article
b) Prepare for working outside a firm once done the Bar exam

That's the resolution list for the upcoming year, tentatively at least.

Michael

My one and only resolution is to enjoy the new year with my family.. and maybe by the end of the year have a new little one on the way to complete our family.

Since hubby just got home last month.. i have been enjoying my family and plan to continue on with that for the rest of my life. Since i have already started the weightloss journey way before the new year.
