Hey Cary - welcome to our forum!!! it's great to have you join us =)

What kinds of plans do you have for diet and exercise?

Good luck with starting tomorrow! I'm kicking my butt back in gear as well =)

Mostly not eating all the junk I do now, no longer eating out everyday, buying fruit and the like for lunches, eating breakfast everyday, which I never eat now, and stop snacking on every little thing I get my hands on in the evenings. Also going to bed at a decent time, that alone will help me eat less. I did this once before, it worked graet for 3 months, but I changed jobs and was all over the states eating at whatever the local restarunt was, and after about 5 months gained it all back. Here are my rules

* Eat Breakfast everyday.
* Eat Decent foods for lunch, mostly fruit.
* No junk food, no fast food, no soda.
* Do some form of exercise everyday.
* One helping only at dinner.
* Drink water.
* No Eating after 8pm.
* In bed no later than 11pm

Exercise

Because I am over weight right now, doing too much will be too much strees on my back, which I had surgery on 4 years ago for a herniated disk. I am starting with playing raquetball once a week and walking.

Day 1

It has begun. I reweighed myself and I was still at 295 this morning, so no doubt that is my starting weight. I made sure to pack my lunch and eat breakfast this morning, althought I need to learn to get up earlier and take care of that stuff, or I will be running late for work. I usually squeeze as much sleep as I can into a night, but only after I fainlly go to bed. That is why it is important to hit the rack no later than 11. 11 isn't bad cause I get to watch my Family Guy and Futurama before hand.

My goal is to lose at least 10 pounds a month.

And so it begins..

3 hours at a time

I almost forgot, I also am eating something every three hours or so, just an apple, or banana, something. This should hopefully keep my motabelism going and so I won't be STARVING with each meal. This I also did during my last dieting experiement, and it helped a lot. Also, I am eating smaller meals, so it's more like having 6 small meals instead of 2 really big ones. (no breakfast)

Speaking of, I remember a guy in the Navy that was over weight, but still got into the military and actually ate MORE in the Navy, and LOST the weight. Said he only ate 1 meal a day before, now eats 3 squares and then some and actually was fairly thin.

Day 001

Seemed somewhat successful. I followed most of my rules, but let some of them slip.

I drank nothing but water
Ate 2 Piece of toast with (I can't believe it's not) butter for breakfast
2 Apples, Banana, Orange, Sliced Peaches, applesauce during the day
Ate nothing past 8
Was in bed at 11:00
No Junk, soda, fast food

But I did not really get a chance to exercise, or pretty much just put it off
I did have 2 helpings at dinner, but I was hungry, and waited to make sure. However even after that, still ate more applesauce.

This morning I reweighed myself and the scales, which fluxuate all over the place, seemed to rest around 292. I imagine it's just water weight, but hey, it's a start.

Day 002

Well I still didn't find time to exercise. After work we ate dinner and went grocery shopping, which is a 45 min drive to the nearest Supercenter. I also found the wonders of Diet A&W! YEAH, it's doesn't have that nasty diet soda after taste!

The Good
2 slices of toast with (I can't believe it's not) butter
2 Apples, Orange, Banana, Sliced Peaches, Sliced pineapples, applesauce
1 Helping of lasanga for dinner
Drank Water all day with exception to the Diet A&W
I was in bed by 11
I did eat a little after 8, when we were done with the groceries I had 2 rice cakes, so sue me.

The Bad
Of course I didn't exercise, however I did walk from place to place at work, instead of driving

The Ugly

Headaches! I have had a lingering head ache for 2 days. It could be from the racket ball that whacked me in the ear Wednesday, but I really think it is the body not happy with my sudden change in diet.

I woke up this morning with another 2 lbs lost. Again, I am sure it is all water weight. It will probably flux a bit, especially at the beginning.

I have to work today, so it's another bringing my lunch and the sort. Hopefully it won't take me all day and I can get home a t a decent time.

LOL LOL LOL!

I love your humor!

I've really had a rough time with the exercise habit too. For me, if I'm honest with myself and everyone else, I certainly can MAKE time during the day for it (as opposed to finding it). It's just that sometimes (MANY TIMES) my excuses got in the way! :D

I'm solving that problem now by having to pay my hubby 20 bucks every day I miss exercising (goal is to exercise M-F for one hour each day). Now THAT works!

Keep up your fantastic work!

Day 003

The Good
Ate a Bagle for breakfast with the imfamous you can't butter.
regular fruit list throughout the day
Did a lot of walking throughout the day at work, probably 1 1/2 hours worth
No junk food, no fast food, no soda.
Only one helping at dinner
Drank water only all day
In bed by 11 however my son kept me up till about 12:30

The Bad
Didn't drink enough water really

The Ugly
Nothing here really, headaches are going away.

I didn't lose any weight, still about 290

Day 004

Sunday. I spend most of the day aware from home, which is never good for the diet. We went to olive Garden so I had to attempt a decent choice in my lunch. Other than the water I drank at OG, I didn't get any the rest of the day. I did take off another 2 pounds. That's 7 total.
I want to start doing daily push ups & sit ups, adding one everyday. It's just a matter of actually doing it.

The Good
Bagel and Orange juice for Breakfast
Lunch was a Chicken Caesar salad with very little chicken (not happy) and dabs of Caesar (Always should get that on the side, they drown it.) Stayed away from the pasta. (Boy that was hard)
Dinner was left over chicken, potatoes and stuffing. 1 helping
Nothing to eat after 8pm
In bed at 11pm, however sleep came about an hour later.
No fast food, no junk, no soda (Except 1 diet)
I did have some light popcorn in the evening before 8. It nets a 0 in Weight watcher world.

The Bad
Little water, 1 Diet A&W
No Exercise, again.

The Ugly
Just me.

How are you taking your water? Just going to the tap/cooler whenever you remember it? Personally, I find that if I do it that way, I never get any water! I had to get a big bottle (Evian makes a very nice 48oz bottle here, with a label that comes off cleanly, and a top that makes it easy to port around as long as you have at least one finger free - so you have an idea of what I'm talking about) and I make sure I fill it before I leave the house in the morning so, and whenever I notice that its empty throughout the day. This way, I always have the water by my side and can drink it idly while I do other things. About 4 of those bottles I mentioned is a good amount for the whole day but I've been known to do 5 if I have a good workout in there.

Also, its great that you've lost 7 lbs in only 4 days! Like you mentioned, much of it may be water weight, and it'll probably stableize soon, but doesn't it feel good in the mean time? :D

Well you are on the right path and I hope we all can help you stay on it! Your goals are great!

Quick weight loss

Yeah last time I did this, I lost 25 lbs in 3 weeks, then it started to slow down to about 1-3 lbs a week, which is what i am expecting. But I did just make a drastic change in my diet, I went from drinking 2-3 sodas a day, eating fast food daily, practily no water, no breakfast, and I generally ate till I was stuffed. I ate whatever and whenever I wanted, Potato chips, oreos, all hours of the night, didn't matter. We generally hat choclate around the house. I really have little self control. Inorder to get myself to have any control I have to go all out, and think about just about nothing but weight loss. I'd hate to burn out, but otherwise, I will just shun it off and eat what I want. That is why I like my quote so much. "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels." I really want to know what it feels like to be thin again. Funny thing is, when I was thin, I thought I was fat. (I wish I had a pic of what I look like now, back then)

At work I take a sports bottle around with me, and usually fill it twice during the day, then drink glasses of water (16 oz) at home. I will drink 2-3 glasses.
Problem has been, I generally don't carry around the bottle outside of work, and if I'm not home, don't just drink water wherever I am. It's just a matter of getting myself into that habit.

Thanks

Thanks, but it will all slow down. I usually start off with a lot right off that bat and then it dwindles. Last time I had lost 44 pounds in 3 months, but it was slow going after the frist 3 weeks. I would go sometime without losing a pound in a week. I know that exercise is the key, and I still havn't gotten myself motivated to doing it. But I will.

Day 005

My scales are crazy, you lean to much to one side and I could say I lost 8 more pounds. But really, it looks like I didn't lose any, they hovered around 288 still.

The Good
Ate a bagle for breakfast
had fruit throughout the day
1 helping at dinner (Pulled Pork sandwiches and tots, water)
Nothing to eat after 8
In bed at 11'
No junk, no fast food, no soda (except my Diet A&W & 1 bag of fat free popcorn)

The bad
Drank some water, but still not enough

The ugly
Even as I sat watching the game last night, the boring 42-0 game, I thought, I really need to exersize, and yet, I still didn't.

Day 006

Lost 2 more pounds today, weighed in at 286

The Good
Ate 1 Bagel and orange juice for breakfast
Ate my usually fruit throughout the day (& 1 Diet A&W)
No Junk, no Fast Food, no Soda (other than Diet)
Had dinner, pulled pork sandwich and a baked potato
I ate a little right after 8, only because I wasn't quiet done.
Had a low fat Hot Chocolate
Drank lots of water today

The Bad
Did not get to bed till midnight, however, also did not eat anything more

The Ugly
My resistance to exercise continues. This time, I was lined up to go play racket ball which I do every week, only I forgot to bring my clothes and racket. So I went home after work to get them, and decided it all was taking too long and I wouldn't get to play much when I got there. So once again, I did nothing.

Day 007

Lost another pound today, making the total 10 pounds in the first week. That is exactly what I expected. Probably will continue in the next 2 weeks and start to taper off after that. The large amount of water I will be drinking should really bring off the top amounts.

The Good

I did a little exercise today, started my 20+ push ups and 20+ crunches. Every day I will add one more.
Ate fruit throughout the day
Nothing to eat after 8
Had toast and OJ for breakfast
Went to bed shortly after 11pm
No Junk, fast food, soda
had some left overs, but enough for one healthy helping.

The Bad
Found out I am not even close to the amount of water I am supposed to be drinking a day, I need 104 oz, I was probably drinking around 32 oz

The Ugly
Saw the dangers of losing weight to fast, and the saggy skin it can leave. Now trying to find a decent way to avoid that. Water is supposed to help.
